A/N: Ok, well, here's the eighth Liz and SG-1 story entitled 'Leaping Into the Future'. Basically similar to what I did with 'Returning Home' in that this has a prologue (which you are about to read), and it also leaps forward in time. This leaps from season seven to season eight, not so difficult, I know. So, please enjoy the prologue: Changes.

Once the rest of Drake's beloved family members died off, the only remaining link to the past leadership could be found on Earth, First Lt. Tucker. She was appointed queen of the Laknee people.

As queen, she set up a new government under herself that could take care of matters when she wasn't there, and they could contact Earth if they needed her. She was not much of a 'visible' queen, allowing her friend Lanna to sit in for her on the many days she was on Earth instead.

The Laknee-Earth Alliance was formed, and trading of knowledge and technology commenced, created a strong friendship between the two peoples. The humans of Earth now were working on reverse-engineering several devices provided by their new friends, and the Laknees were working with small groups of scientists and military personnel to gain insight into the human way of life, and what they had to offer.

However, a small uprising had started at the beginning of this exchange. The 'Old Ones' activists wanted to get rid of the Earthly influence, fearing it was destroying their people, and may welcome another attack from the old rulers, the so called enemy goa'ulds.

How could this planet remain safe if their technology was being passed on to a 'lesser' group of people? They did not see the good that was coming to the land, and they sought to stop and destroy the government, including the queen, who had been given a new name, Lizaba I. She had no husband to bare children from, so there was no heir to the throne; how easily she could be overthrown.

On Earth, the Atlantis team was headed by Doctor Weir, and they launched their mission to the Pegasus galaxy. O'Neill, Carter, and Hammond were all promoted, leaving Jack in charge of the base. Carter was now in charge of the team, and Hammond was somewhere in Washington.

Almost everyone around the base close to Elizabeth teased her about being queen, mainly Jack. It was really no laughing matter, but when you get a request from your ascended husband, it was something that could only really happen on the base.

Missions however continued the same throughout these new months, and the friendship was strong between the planets, although a little…awkward, at times. No one on Laknee appreciated Jack for being the liaison to Earth, and vise versa with Elizabeth.
