Kazoos, Happy Reeds and Broken Mallets

Hi Guys!

I'm new to this section of and I'm already in love with it. In ready all of you guy's fabuloso stories about band, I felt compelled to write my own. This story covers my history as a musician. From the first time I picked up my violin, to the day I walked into my high school band room. This story is true. Everything in it happened to me. All the names have been changed. I guess that if someone from my band read this, they might realize who I am, but that's not that big of a deal I guess. sigh the title will totally make sense after a while. You'll just have to wait and see what Kazoos and Happy reeds really are. Mwahhahahahahahhaha I know and you don't! Heh heh. I'm really hyper right now. Sorry for the unusually long Author's note!

Please review! I love reviews they make me feel happy!

"Mom, I want to play the fiddle!"

Oh god, how can I ever accept the fact that those words came out of my mouth? I was young and naïve and didn't know better, but....still. The ironic ness of it all is almost too much for me to stand. I was in the third grade and my school had just had one of those clinic thingies where people that played musical instruments come in and play for you. I had seen this guy that was really good at violin playing and I had been inspired. I had found my instrument. I wanted nothing more than to play like he did. Sure, I had just said the one sentence that I had latter pledged would never come out of my mouth, but it was still a monumental moment in my life.

"Okay Kayley dear, if you're really sure about it, we'll sign you up for some lessons at the music store on Third Street."

My eyes lit up with the pure joy that only a child's eyes can hold. I was going to play the fiddle! (A.N. gag).

"Hi, my name is Chandra! I'll be you violin teacher. What's your name, sweetie?"

"Kayley," I said, shyly.

"Kayley, Well, that's a very lovely name! Are you going to learn how to play the violin, Kayley?"

I nodded.

"Awwwww, Your daughter is so adorable!" Chandra said to my mom. "Would you do me a favor and run down stairs to the Suzuki book one for me? Kayley will need it for her next lesson and there are some things I would like to show her in that book."

My mom went down stairs to get the book. When my mother left I was overcome with a wave of sudden shyness.

"Alright Kayley, first we're going to learn all the strings names. I'm going to teach you a song to help you remember them." Chandra picked up her violin. She plucked each string that she was talking about in the rhythm to the song that she was singing.

"See, Each separate line begins with the letter of the string on you violin! Before I see you next time, Kayley, I want you to have all of the string memorized. Do you think that you can do that?"

I nodded, meekly.

I was going to learn how to play the violin! I was already on my way to becoming a great violinist! I already knew all the names of the strings! I practiced the Ant song every single day until my next lesson.
