Tonight was the Jellicle Ball and it wasn't going well. Already Macavity showed up. Twice actually. But even after we had secured the area, he showed up again. This time he captured Old Deuteronomy. However, Macavity's not the kind of cat to just capture someone; no… he just had to come back for a fight…
Munkustrap, being Deuteronomy's son, stepped up to fight him. To tell you the truth, he's not much of a fighter. It wasn't long before the ginger took over the tabby. Of course I had to take over then. That's my 'job'. I'm the one who protects this tribe. But even after I beat Mac enough that he retreated, I wasn't the one to get any acknowledgment. They were all surrounding him, tending to him. Even my dear Cassandra was huddled over him. It made my sick to my stomach.
I walked away towards the small enclosure I dubbed my home. I only stopped once on the way. The moonlight reflected off of something, the cure to my problems. The object that I hold on my paws right now.
I look outside and sniff the air. Good, no one's near… I test the object on my palm, pressing the sharpness into the soft pad. A line of red flows down and stains my white fur, matching my wounds obtained just a short while ago.
I position my cure and breathe deep. Well, it's now or never.
My ears perk up. The sound of footsteps. Someone's coming!
"Alonzo?"
Cassandra? She came looking for me? Maybe she truly does care... She pokes her head inside as I hide my cure behind my back.
"There you are. You should get back. Misto brought Deuteronomy back and he's going to choose who goes to the Heavyside Lair," she informed before leaving quickly to get back.
That's it? No 'Are you alright?' or 'I was worried.' Oh Cassandra, you have no idea how much you've hurt me just now. I sigh. Maybe I should go. Maybe I'll be chosen and save them from having to clean up after it; not that they deserve it. But if not, I know my cure will be here when I get back. I gently place my cure under my blanket and leave, not even bothering to clean my fur, cause I know that they won't even notice enough to care.
