A/N:  If you haven't seen The Chronicles of Riddick yet then I don't advise reading this, as it will ruin the ending for you.  For those of you who have seen it you will immediately see what I changed…

Also, for those of you waiting on a sequel to Catch a Falling Star, don't worry it's coming.  This was just something I needed to get out and felt like sharing.

Summary:  This is just a quick one shot for how I would have liked the movie to end….

What if…

Riddick held Kyra in his arms in the silence following the Lord Marshal's death.  Her eyes were closed and her breath shallow.  The Lord Marshal had slammed her against the column hard and he knew that spike had, at the very least, grazed her. 

"Are you with me Kyra?" he said quietly, oblivious to the stares of the people around him.  There was no response and her breathing slowed to an undetectable level.  Riddick held her still body to him and fought back tears that were never supposed to fall.  The Lord Marshall had taken everything he had ever cared about from him.  There was nothing left for him.

"I've always been with you."  The voice was quiet and weak, but he had not imagined it.  "Now let go of me you big oaf, I can't breathe."  Riddick held the girl at arms length and saw that her eyes were now open and a weak smile played across her face.  "I told you I didn't want to die."

"We need to get you some help," he said in low tones as he gently picked her up.  She was alive, and he would see that she stayed that way. 

As he stood, he finally took note of his surroundings.  The Necromongers were all staring at him, shocked looks still plastered on their faces.  Vaaco still stood in the spot where he had expected to end the Lord Marshal's life with his ax still in hand.  Riddick wasn't sure what to make of the look on his face.  If he were to attack Riddick now it would put Kyra in danger again, and he couldn't have that.  But, to Riddick's surprise Vaaco dropped his weapon.

"You keep what you kill," stated Vaaco plainly as he dropped to one knee.  The rest of the assembled followed suit and dropped to their knees as well.  Riddick looked out across the rows of lowered heads in disbelief.  He could barely take care of one girl and these people wanted him to rule their empire, there was something seriously wrong with that.  But first things first he thought.

"Is there a doctor in the house?"

A/N:  Like I said, super quick, but it made me feel better.  That was my one beef with the movie, that they killed Kyra, well that and the fact that they didn't use the actress that was in Pitch Black.  Okay, I'm done, thanks for reading, and if you feel like it leave a review.
