The Choice

by October Breeze

Yuffie bit her lip hard, clenching her fists together. Her palms were moist, and she felt a bead of sweat drop down her back. She had to make a choice. If she didn't, time might run out...

Damn it! Hurry up, before...before...

She glanced from side to side, feeling nervous. The muscles of her stomach clenched and unclenched, rolling over and doing flip-flops around her stomach. Only she could make this decision.

"Hurry..." someone murmured.

"I-I can't do this! Don't rush me!" she stuttered. If she was rushed, she might make the wrong decision. That just made her more nervous. A loud moan of agony escaped her lips. Time was running out.

This was crucial. Only two choices to make. One was the right one, and the other was wrong. Very wrong.

"I-I...I choose..." she said, taking a deep breath. "Iwantthespearmint!" Her words came out in one big rush, afraid she had made the wrong choice. The line of people behind her let out a long sigh of relief.

The cashier grabbed a pack of spearmint gum and set it down on the counter.

"Will that be cash or charge?"
