Benedicte

Summary: Juliano's letter to Robin.
Rating: PG, I suppose.
A/N: This piece has specifically Christian themes. The italicized text is from the Commital, at the end of the Burial II rite in the Book of Common Prayer.

My Robin, child of my age and daughter of my heart, I have ordered your Hunt.

I do this, not because of who you are, but because of the power you carry. I do this to spare you from what you may one day become. I do this, because your soul is still pure, and you will fly straight into the arms of God.

I do this, so that you may be granted the blessing of dying prepared. And of dying with love.

My daughter, please forgive me. In any case, Solomon would not have allowed you to live, and … I could not bear to know that you should be hunted like an animal, by strangers.

Solomon considers you a witch, but I know in my heart that you are a beloved child of God. Return to him now, and I beg of you, forgive me.

In sure and certain hope of the resurrection to eternal life through our Lord Jesus Christ, I commend to Almighty God my daughter Robin, and I commit her body to the ground; earth to earth, ashes to ashes, dust to dust. The Lord bless her and keep her, the Lord make her face to shine upon her and be gracious to her, the Lord lift up his countenance to her and give her peace. Amen.

Your grandfather in the flesh, and your father in Christ,

Juliano Coeligli
