Disproportionality

I don't like rain. My glasses get misty and my hair goes in my eyes.

I can't see anything. And now is a rather inopportune time to be wet. I

squint, trying to make out the runes on the cavern wall through the small

amount of light. It seems to be rather old: stringy dark brown vines cover

some of the markings; reddish leaves half-coving something I believe means

fury… or something like that. The message seems to be explaining some sort

of a flood. The-

         "Anything interesting?"

"Well, uh…" What was I saying? Right. "There seems to be a…"

Must remember Jack doesn't understand Egyptian much. You know, these

signs resemble hieroglyphs. "resemblance to" The cave is near an ancient

riverbed, like the group we encountered recently on Seltha'at. Their writing

seems rather close, and there was a legend about some people disappearing

through their gate. "To some, ah" Hm, which civilization on Earth? Ah, yes.

"Mesopotamian-like civilization we encountered a while back." Now, as I

was doing earlier. Where was I? Ka'yel? Hm, that was the god. Which glyph

was that? Mm, right.

         "Why do you do that?"

Wha? "Do what?" I really should talk to Jack about distracting people

while they work.

"You always trail off halfway through saying something, like you

don't know what you're talking about. You should have more confidence."

         "Sure."  I'd ask, but I doubt it's very important. Besides… "I need

to" 'At sunrise the fury of Ka'yel had descended upon us. Water spilled from

the river in stormy billows and we cannot-' "finish translating this?" 'cannot

escape to rejoin the others.'

"…I'm going to go see what Sam and Teal'c are up to."

'This shall be our wat'ry tomb.'
