Gifts, Games and Interruptions

Disclaimer: I don't own anything and if I did...then Heero, Duo, Wufei, Trowa and Quatre would be in my room right now and I'd never share them with anyone...but if you've seen all the fanfics about them, then you'd know that it doesn't work that way. Plus, they would be on really late having fun together and I would be able to die happy...unfortunately not happening so don't sue, it's not worth it!

Epilogue

Heero paid no attention to the sound of the door opening and closing in the distance. It was obviously Wufei with Duo but Heero felt no need to go and greet them. He wondered if this was how Wufei had felt the entire time that Heero had been paying attention to Duo during the earlier parts of their relationship. Jealous that the other would rather pay attention to someone else instead of them. It was crap but Heero wouldn't go down there to snap at Wufei and Duo for spending time together.

Obviously the mission had done exactly what he and Une had hoped it would. It had brought the two of them together, though it was never supposed to get as dangerous as it had in the end. Who knew that Wufei and Duo would have discovered how to get in there that fast? Who would have thought that Wufei would have gone in there alone? That sounded so much more like something that Duo would do, and Wufei was always there to make sure that Duo didn't do that.

Heero shook his head, if he hadn't ever brought his idea to Une, then this would have never happened. Duo wouldn't have ended up hurt and Wufei wouldn't feel the need to spend ever waking moment that he could by Duo's side.

Heero could understand why Wufei felt responsible for what happened to Duo because it had been his misjudgment that had landed Duo in that spot but still...

Wufei could at least attempt to pay a little bit of attention to Heero.

Wufei had been home for three weeks now. It had been two weeks since Duo woke up and Wufei had only showed affection towards Heero once, that day that Duo had woken up. Heero knew that if he closed his eyes he could still taste the way that Wufei had tasted that day. He hadn't brushed his teeth since he came back, that much was obvious but he also tasted of sweat and spices. Heero wished that he could taste it again but he didn't want to push it. Plus he felt kind of weird just going up in front of Duo and kissing his boyfriend.

Not because Duo didn't know, but because he didn't know how Duo would react this time. It was obvious that in the past they hadn't gotten along due to the relationship and Heero really didn't want to see it this time.

So Heero stood, staring out of his window while he heard Duo and Wufei climb up the stairs and go to Duo's room to get him settled in. Heero tried to concentrate on Trowa and Quatre weeding the garden to keep himself from turning towards the sound of Wufei's voice that was so close, closer than it had been for days now.

But Heero didn't go to Wufei. Eventually though, it was too much for him and he left the room, headed downstairs to go outside and help Trowa and Quatre.

Quatre saw him first and waved him over. "Come on Heero, you can help us weed. These damn things don't want to leave the ground. Your superior strength might help."

Trowa glared at Quatre mockingly. "So what, you don't think that I'm strong enough to pull weeds out of the ground?"

"I didn't say it." Quatre pointed out, holding his hands up. "You did."

Heero smiled, reached for a root and pulled it out of the ground.

"Wufei's here." Quatre said. It wasn't a question, it was a simple fact, as if both of them knew why Heero had to get out of that house.

Heero nodded simply and pulled out another weed.

"You know that he will eventually get back into his normal routine. Pretty soon you'll wonder why you were miserable that they weren't fighting. They'll be at each other's throat every second of the day." Trowa exclaimed.

"And then Wufei will open his eyes enough to realize what you did while he was on vacation." Quatre whispered as he pulled out a weed himself.

Heero nodded as he looked up at the house that they were planting the garden around. It wasn't really that big of a house, Heero had been working on it for as long as him and Wufei had been going out. Just at a different location. When Wufei had gone out to a mission, Heero had had the house transported here and they had started to set up the electricity and the water heaters and such.

He had always wanted it on the same land that he had lived with the others with forever because he didn't want to be that far away from his friends at any time. These people were his family and moving away from them would be too big of a thing to deal with. Besides, with Quatre and Trowa away all the time, to move far away would be to leave Duo all alone half the time and Duo would never be able to deal with that. Which is why Heero had located the house just a hundred feet away from the back door of the main house.

"I don't know how Wufei can miss it." Trowa grumbled as he yanked on a weed a couple of times to pull it out. "It's not like it's hidden."

"He's been half asleep whenever he comes back to the house." Heero said in defence of his boyfriend. "And it is kinda hidden. You can't see it from the road or the front of the house. You have to go to the back of the house to notice it."

"Wufei's bedroom has a perfect view." Quatre muttered in a tone that told him that he was disappointed in Wufei. "And the driveway to the back is definitely new."

"Just leave it." Heero snapped. "He'll notice it when he does."

Trowa and Quatre nodded and all continued to weed in silence for at least five minutes before Heero spoke away.

"Look I'm sorry guys, you're just trying to help. I think we're all just annoyed right now. I know that once Wufei stops being completely preoccupied with Duo, he'll notice. Right now, he just has more important things on his mind." Heero said calmly and smiled at the two of them.

They didn't say anything but Heero knew that both of them were wondering how anything could be more important than the person that they were in love with.

Heero didn't have a response for that. After all, pay back is always a bitch.

"Where do you think Heero is?" Duo asked softly as he sat down on his bed and watched Wufei put his stuff down on the floor. "I figured that he would be at the front door, ready to help us inside but he's no where in sight."

"And he hasn't been in the hospital for the last week." Wufei replied.

Duo shrugged. "I don't care that he's hasn't thought that I was so bad off that he had to check in on me everyday. I'm just curious why he hasn't come along to say anything to me yet."

"Maybe he just has more important things to do."

"Maybe." Duo stood up again and grabbed his crutches. "Come on,. lets go look for the big lug. He's probably off pouting somewhere."

"Can you actually imagine Heero pouting?" Wufei asked, his eyebrow raised.

"No." Duo shrugged and made his way out of the room. "But hey, that doesn't mean he can't. Right?"

Wufei shook his head as they walked to Heero's room and flunt open the door. Heero wasn't in the room but Duo made his way in anyways. Duo looked out the window, his eyes widened. Wufei's eyebrows creased together and he went over to the window and gasped.

"Do you see what I see?"

"Are we refering to Heero or the house?" Duo asked quickly as he watched as Heero worked in a garden in front of a house that certainly hadn't been there the last time that Duo had been at this house.

"Both?"

"Then yes."

"How..."

"Not important!" Duo replied quickly. "But if you don't get your ass out there and hug him or something I'm going to do it for you because that looks like it was a lot of work and something tells me that it isn't for Quatre and Trowa's benefit."

Wufei didn't hesitate and he ran out of the room and Duo could hear him running down the stairs. Mere seconds later, Wufei was running across the lawn and he tackled Heero, who had turned when he heard Wufei running.

Duo watched as Heero fell into the mud but didn't even seem to care as he wrapped his arms around Wufei and held him close. Duo watched with a warm feeling taking over him.

He wasn't going to lie and say that it wasn't jealous of both of them for having the other one. He wasn't going to lie and say that on Valentine's Day he wasn't going to give Heero a bigger gift than Wufei gave Heero. He wasn't going to lie and say that he wasn't going to do what he could to tease Wufei in their own little games. He wasn't going to lie and say that he wasn't going to interrupt the two of them when they were about to get hot and heavy.

After all, what fun would it be without gifts, games and interruptions?

But as Duo looked out at the two of them, he knew that they would live through it all. Even if Wufei was going to act like he couldn't.

They were perfect together. Completely, totally and forever. And nothing Duo could ever do would change that.

But he sure as hell could try to annoy them as much as possible.

With that in mind, Duo turned around to follow Wufei outside.
