At the request of Maiden of Mystery, I've started a Princess Nine story that I hadn't really thought about posting up before. ^_^ I hope you like it; it's short, but I'll continue depending on the amount of people who like it or not.R+R please! =)

-=Chapter 1=- Despair

Koshien. It had been her wish to be here, right? Her dream? If that was all it was, to be here at Koshien, why was she suddenly feeling bereft? Ryo Hayakawa stood on top of the pitcher's mound, a hurricane of feelings barraging her as the echoes of loss filled her mind: Relief that it was over. Hating herself for feeling that way. Happy that Hiroki had been the one to hit her Lightning Ball for the win, but resenting him for it. Disappointment and an utter sense of failure swept iver her as she stared at the ground beneath her feet.
"It's all over." Her own voice sounded final, even said so softly, surprising her out of her reverie for just a moment.

She was moving too slowly. IT seemed as if she was running through water, or if her vision had suddenly slowed in time. She saw the ball; far away, but certainly close enough to just catch with her glove. She reached out her glove - slowly, too slowly! - and for an instant she, along with her teammates, hoped against hope to just...win. Then time seemed to abruptly catch up with her, and the ball slipped out of her grasp. It was gone. Her fault. Yuki relaxed herself away from the fence out of reflex, and just stared at the fence that had been a barrier, feeling...empty.

The crowds had quieted, shocked. Two things at once had happened - the Lightning Ball when the pitcher seemed wiped out. Now the miracle slugger had hit the winning home run - off a Lightning ball that shouldn't have been thrown or touched. Then everyone erupted into roars and cheers for the teams of Koshien. It was something that would exist forever in memory; an unforgettable spectacle. A lone spectator, seated and hidden among the crowd, watched with a touch of a smile on her lips, feeling the excitement and joy of the crowd.
"You haven't seen anything yet," she said to no one in particular. A promise...a challenge...a threat? No matter, her words were lost to the cheering fans as the teams exited the stadium. She gazed at each of the Kisaragi Girls High School's players with an unreadable expression her face before murmuring, "There's much more to come."
