In the Firelight

Softly the tongues of flame dance,
A sensuous dance of love
Dare I take this chance?
Place a tender kiss upon your palm.
And so we begin a sweet romance?

Reflected in your eyes,
Soft golden heat.
Whispers and sighs.
A tender moment of refuge,
From a world filled with secrets and lies.

Shy glances, reflecting the fire
Upwards the sparks fly.
A burning desire.
To dance with the cool blue flame,
Leap into the sky. reach even higher.

With your tentative caress.
My heart's walls come tumbling down.
Oh, the exquisite tenderness!
You have laid bare my soul,
And left me no egress.

Your touch leaves a trail like flame.
Your presence has become like oxygen,
And I can no longer remember my own name.
When I place my hand over your beating heart,
I know my love, that you feel the same.

Swaying to the music's strain,
Born anew in the flame of your love.
Upon my upturned face your kisses fall like rain,
A benediction upon my weary life.
An ending to the legacy of pain.

Voices in the wind of this cold world beat upon our door,
But your arms are my refuge now,
I don't know what's instore.
You have captured me beloved,
With the sweet smile I so adore.

So strong we'll stand against the night,
The wind doesn't stand a chance against the flame.
Kisses that stoke the fire to burn ever bright.
Bodies clinging in a passionate embrace,
Shadows shift and fall - in the firelight.
