Author's Note: This poem is written about a character from an original story that my best friend and I are working on. Please tell me what you think. The angel in the poem is the Archangel Gabriel. I know he never fell from grace, but he's different in our story so just work with me.
Lament of an Archangel
Beyond the world of mortal men,
Beyond the breath and sight.
Lies paradise, an eden grand,
Bathed in holy light.
For countless time we dwelled in peace,
But so it was in ages past.
Little did we know it then,
Eternity would never last.
With heavy heart and crippled wings,
The heavens weep as I descend.
True reason cannot sway my kin,
His will to mine shall never bend.
From this new home upon the earth,
I search the stars for eden gone.
Yet bleeding skies reply to me,
"Abandon hope, ye mighty one."
