No More Darkness

Enfolded by sunlight
he rests in eternal slumber.
High atop a bed of wood.
Soon to be blanketed
by a flaming veil.
He looks so noble,
calm and peaceful.
Sunshine upon his
green cheeks.
No longer tormented
by advancing shadows.
Into flames he vanishes,
morning star melting into sunrise.
Free of the choking
darkness at last,
his spirit takes its
last journey to the sky.
The fire burns low.
And then he is gone.
His ashes litter the ground
like memories of days past.
Traveling on the wind
to places never seen.
He lives on forever.
