Alone
The silence is deafening
As I sit alone in my home
No one is here to hear about my day
Or care that I am in a very rare good mood
No the only greeting I hear is silence
As I try to cheer myself up by talking to myself
But it is not the same
The hunger is still there
The hunger to hear happiness in another's voice
As they greet me and ask how I am
To have someone to talk to
And laugh with
To have someone to hug and kiss
Without seeing terror in their eyes
Someone who wants to hold me
And tell me everything is going to be all right
But as the clock on the wall ticks away
The insatiable hunger deepens
And tears caress my face
Glorious tears of sadness and comfort
For they are the closest I will ever come to companionship
As I go through my life miserable and alone
The silence is deafening
As I sit alone in my home
No one is here to hear about my day
Or care that I am in a very rare good mood
No the only greeting I hear is silence
As I try to cheer myself up by talking to myself
But it is not the same
The hunger is still there
The hunger to hear happiness in another's voice
As they greet me and ask how I am
To have someone to talk to
And laugh with
To have someone to hug and kiss
Without seeing terror in their eyes
Someone who wants to hold me
And tell me everything is going to be all right
But as the clock on the wall ticks away
The insatiable hunger deepens
And tears caress my face
Glorious tears of sadness and comfort
For they are the closest I will ever come to companionship
As I go through my life miserable and alone
