Summary: Eagle is about to wake up fully recovered from Hikaru's wish. What's going through his mind
as he does? Takes place four years after the ending of the Manga.
Author's Notes: This is just a little one-shot I came up with when I was going home on the bus. Since it
was a spur of the moment thing I hope it turned out okay. It's kind of repetetive, but I tried to do that for effect, whether I suceeded or not is up to the reader's POV. Are there any readers out there? Are there?
Well if there is, don't be too harsh, its my first fanfic ever!

Musings of a Sleeping Soldier
By Lightning_Storm
It was near. The sandy-blonde haired man's heart pounded as he thought of it. Finally after four years, four years of darkness and emptiness, he would awaken. Four years where the only joy he had was the few times his friends were able to visit, and only then, only then could he hear their voices. No longer though, his energy was nearly at its peak, and soon he would be able to face the light again. He would be able to see the strong soldier with his navy colored eyes, and the angel with her fiery mane once more. And for once he would be able to see what it was truly like to live.
No longer would he have to live with the constant threat of pain and death hanging over his head. Rather, he would finally be able to do all the things his previous disease had stopped him from. But most of all he would finally be able to consider this magical world his home. He would finally be able to consider its people, his people. He would no longer fight against them, but he would fight with them and protect this mysterious land. And he would be able to do it all because of her...
Hikaru, his red haired angel...
When his death was eminent, she would not give up until she managed to overcome his fate, and keep him alive. When he said he would have to defeat her in order to reach his goal, she did not care. When she had found out he was ill, she had been worried for him. And when she found out he would have to die after she defeated him, she did everything she could to keep him alive. She was the girl with the fiery mane and beautiful crimson eyes. She was the girl who had managed to take his heart over these past four years. But alas, She was also the girl he could never have, for her heart only belonged to one, and that one was not he. It was the strong soldier with the navy-blue eyes, his best friend Lantis.
However, he would accept it. He was determined to accept it and become strong. He would watch over them from afar, and protect their relationship though it may be painful for him to say the least. He would do this because he knew it was best, and because it was the one thing he could do to thank his angel for this second chance of life. He would do this for his friend, who never gave up on him although he betrayed him. He would do this for Cephiro, so he can reconcile them in his presence. And finally, he would do this for himself, so he could be happy and live on with no more regrets. (Just as his angel had said)

and remember, don't be too harsh! It's my first fanfic, as well as completed story, ever! Don't expect
it to be excellent!
