'You put that down.' A stern voice commanded. 'How many times have I told
you not to do that?'
'But it's just a ......'
'Do I have to keep my eyes on you for every second of the day?'
'Gil, it's just a bag of groceries. It's not that heavy. I just wanted to help.' Catherine protested.
'No. You just leave all that to me. I can get it done. You just sit down and relax all right?' Gil said, leading his wife towards a chair and making her sit down.
'You're just so bossy, you know that?' Catherine complained as she sat down. 'Were you born this domineering or did you get that way growing up?'
'Come on Cath, you just recovered. Besides, when will you ever get to be waited on hand and foot like this ever again? Why don't you just make the most of it?' Grissom said affectionately as he gave his wife a light kiss.
'You know as well as I do that I hate feeling useless and dependent on others. All this relaxing and not doing anything is starting to get on my nerves! It has been three weeks since I came out of hospital but I am still being treated like an invalid!'
'I nearly lost you. I felt guilty for sending you out on that case alone. So I can't help it if I am a little overprotective.' Grissom gathered his wife into his arms and held her tight.
'Gil, it was not your fault. You couldn't have known that the suspect was armed and dangerous. Besides, I'm all right now, and that's what's important, right?'
'Yeah, I guess. But I still feel that I'm not doing good enough in my job of protecting you.'
'Good grief Gil, if you were any better, I would be wrapped up in cotton wool and not allowed out of the house! Don't be so hard on yourself please?' She said as she unfastened a button and slipped her hand inside his shirt, drawing a heartfelt sigh from him before he took the subtle hint she was sending him.
He kissed her thoroughly before sweeping her up into his arms and into their bedroom. As he looked down at his wife who had snuggled close to his chest, he made a silent vow that he would do anything in his power to prevent her from getting hurt again.
***Well, how was it? Just a short bit of fluff that sort of popped up out of the blue. Tell me what you think! ***
