Chapter 6: Little Recognition(2)

…Holy Shit.

I, for one, did not expect to see a monster which could potentially make [Attack on Titan] a disappointment. That might be derisively exaggerating, even insultive if stated in an offensive manner. However, I have every liberty which can reinforce this statement of mine.

"Fear me humans for I am the supreme monster Ogre King! My clan has been hiding in the undergrounds for over a millennium and now it finally has a conscience. You feebly mammals have been on the surface for so long that my kinfolks are getting anxious for mayhem! And now…" The giga being barbarically smashes a building with extreme brute force, further enough to searingly pulverize its surroundings. "We are claiming this land once again!" The being repeats its actions, albeit more forceful than the previous one making the ground intensely shake even at our current distance.

A monster, which heights around more than two hundred meters, is wreaking havoc not far from our current location. Its body was more than a hundred times broad as even an Olympic wrestler would be, with clearly defined muscles that bulged under the thick green skin. Indeed, the skin was more akin to armor than anything you see on desultory fantasy books. Its lower region is only covered with a thick ragged brown cloth which is surely enough to cover its remaining dignity. And finally, a crown made up of giant bones emplaced on top of its head to finish its appearance.

Truly, an ogre king.

"But not until I eradicate all humanity first!" Its voice boomed across the city landscapes, screams of individuals squall throughout the metropolis. Their raucous voice of abetment screeches on my ears once more as several people begin running away from the catalytic destruction.

I can sense it, emotions of indefeasible fear and horror stenches the abhorring atmosphere like a blatant book, seemingly comparable to that of a spreading disease. The terror of reverential awe of fear that causes intense aversion and repugnance to people is discreditable. Fear is the shackles of every living being, fear similar to a knife in the gut slowly being twisted. When fear comes, walk with confidence right past, because like the ghosts of children's nightmares…

Fear is an illusion.

"V-Valerix…" My hand is being enveloped by Chisa's grasp as we continue staring at the deliberate act of destruction beholden unto its onerous presence. I look down, staring at Chisa's frightened expression. "W-What are we g-g-gonna do?" She asked, her voice staggered in perplexity at the situation at hand.

Varieties of variegated emotions began amalgamating in my mind just by simply looking at the child's uncertainty. This is the sort of scenario where I fear the most. The moment where I finally put my resolve to the test and see what manners of results would become evident with its precipitate outcome. Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run than outright exposure. The fearful are caught as often as the bold.

Which is why I am not running.

"You need to find a place to hide." I answered, my voice showing abstruse composure and collectedness. "I suggest following the civilians. If I presume correctly, they're going on an evacuation center in times of disasters similar to this." I kneel down on her level then began patting her head with utmost delicacy. I simply stare at her, in which she stares me back. At that moment, I tried my best to ignore whatever casualties happening in the background for the sake of engrossing the child from what I am about to say.

"Follow them." I said, almost commandingly yet placated. "You're strong, so I doubt you'll get in the crossfire." I meant that for two reasons; one, for a ten-year old she is quite matured in terms of survival unlike any other children I've come across. Two, is simply because I want to encourage her self-esteem to come into view. And as expected, Chisa's eyes narrowed in shock.

"B-But what a-abou-" I restrain her sentence midway by creating a white sphere around her body. Chisa's shocked expression augments as she looks at the sphere then back at me. "V-Valerix?"

"I can only transport you to the place we've recently gone." I stated, letting a small smile plaster across my face. "Use that opportunity to search for the evacuation." Without any further unnecessary talks, the psychic energy imploded around her shrinking in size but with the energy building up in an upsetting climax. Then in the very next second, Chisa's form is gone.

"Now that's been settled." I look above the rampaging titan, my expression going slightly bland. "Time to make an entrance."

I am fully aware of the resulting consequences once this escapade of mine fully executes itself throughout the world of media. It was bound to happen at some point I suppose, just not expecting it to be today. However, this can be a big opportunity to gain the Hero Association's attention because I literally had a week before the real canon starts.

'Once that happens, well, I'll leave it up to fate." I flew above, passing through buildings that were thrown around the landscapes of the city while simultaneously putting barriers around the civilians who got caught in the catastrophic destruction then transporting them to random locations, which Chisa and I recently went onto. I would thank [Spiritual Awareness] for this, not only it works for spirits but also for any literal beings who have an existing soul within them, that explains why I can sense various people and animals and somehow manage to put a barrier at them even if not seen at my current distance.

"Hoh? What's this?" The giant being scornfully looks up at my floating form. "A representative to defeat me? How foolish."

Here I stood in the air, arms folded as I watched the so-called Ogre King fully turn its attention on me. Despite its size and intimidating aura I remain unmoving on my position, my gaze solely fixed on the primary monster who caused so much destruction in such little time. I am honestly impressed by how ridiculously big this monster is, comparing my own size to the monster is like comparing an ant to a human.

"Will you try to oppose me? It's futile weakling, I am the-"

"Stop." I said having enough at this point. "Just stop and fight me." While hearing speeches similar to this are initially interesting per say, it may soon grow tiresome at some point. "If you keep boasting the same damn thing then that just confirms that you really aren't appreciated." I experience things like this from time to time, and it is alarming when you think about it. However, showing off is a fool's idea of glory, but unfortunately in my case, it was needed.

"H-HOW DARE YOU!" It seems that I hit a nerve right there. For the monster to rage like this, it just furthermore proves this case. The titan roared a scream of rage before dashing forwards at an insuperable speed. Well, to others at least. The monster's body stiffened, shackling the being from its position. "W-What!? I-I can't move my body!"

Apparently, even giants can be restrained by my psychokinesis. I suppose it simply depends on the strength of aura regarding the essentiality of an individual. Aura in the [One Punch Man] universe is generated not just through the physical representation of strength that certain beings can see, but it could also be a manifestation of will-power that grants protection from...well, everything.

[Aura Bending]; the ability to manipulate aura and its will.

So if I thought about twisting it…

"GWAAH!" The monster's body literally twisted, bending its physical organs in the most torturous way possible. It's gruesome, but it was not enough to make me puke my food. I raise my hand, lifting my index finger as the titan hovers above the atmosphere. Its size alone shadowed the city, trumpets blared in the distance as I looked down to see a good amount of people gathering up like a horde, seemingly in awe at the action display. I forced a laugh, it astounds me that these people prefer to watch something up close which can annihilate them over an instant rather than taking precautionary actions and just run to a safe distance in advance.

'On the good side, I'm getting recognition.' I return my gaze over the titan above the sky. "I wasn't intending on showing myself to the public yet but I suppose it can't be helped." A hail of whirlwinds flashes through the titan's form, removing its internal and external organs followed by a scream of pain from the monster itself. "You, Ogre King, will be the perfect opportunity for my debut."

"Y-YOU INSOLENT HUMAN! I'LL-" Apparently, the monster cannot say anything else since everything that functions throughout its body has been removed entirely by the whirlwinds above the firmament. I watched the scene passively as I waited for the calamity to completely disintegrate the being's organs. And yes, everything.

With a snap of my fingers, the whirlwinds disappeared in an instant. The sky returned into its original form in just mere seconds. The breath of sweet nature plays in the blue, a beauty in which dappled by the clouds. I let my eyes gaze upward, enjoying the nothingness of the summer breeze. However, it lasted for a very short time as the spectating citizens began shouting in cheers as I forced my gaze back at the people down below my distance.

"Thank you!"

"Can I get your autograph!?"

"Kyaa! He's so handsome!"

'Huh, it actually feels good getting recognized.' If I was an attention seeker, I would have probably gone down and accepted all the praises I can get. But the thing is, I am not into those kinds of things. Popularity is not an indication of quality, neither fame nor greatness which is something that I will keep in mind til in the near future. Without sparing them second glances I flew off to China's location.

Heroes Association HQ

The Heroes Association, an organization that manages all heroes through C to S-class. Their main motive is to ensure the protection and safety of the citizens and operate independently without the heed of government agencies. It was founded by the multi-billionaire himself Agoni due to the incident of his grandchild getting attacked by a monster and was saved by a passing man. But that was three years ago, now it has been passed by the staff members of the organization.

"Any reports regarding the monster from City-Z?" A man with a bulbous nose asked one of the operators.

Sitch, also known as one of the high staffs of the Hero Association, and also one of the very few who take their positions very seriously and actually plans for tactics in times of cataclysmic disasters. His clothing consisted of a black business suit with a white shirt and red tie. His grey hair neatly parted to the right, showing a cosmopolitan appearance.

"The monster was defeated sir." The operator stated which made Sitch sigh in relief.

"As expected from Tatsumaki. I believe the monster was around Dragon-level correct?" Sitch asked, wondering if the monster was really that strong. If so, then he would congratulate and thank Tatsumaki's help later on, even knowing the consequences that is.

The operator room was settled deep inside the Heroes Association heart, the building itself was very futuristic. In rows, other operators sat before their holographic screens and keyboards. Each of them working diligently, accepting requests and redirecting them to other heroes with their fingers never stopping even for a single moment.

"Yes. Due to its size and capability of destroying a large fraction of the city, it was immediately labelled as a Dragon-level threat." Sitch nodded at the explanation, satisfied that a monster like that has already been taken care of. "But…" The operator returned to his screen then began typing. "It wasn't Tornado of Terror who dealt with it." Sitch was taken aback at the statement.

"Then who?" He was certainly sure he sent the request on Tatsumaki to deal with the monster. 'If it's not her then who? Another S-class hero perhaps?' Maybe King? Whoever it is, it must be one of the S-class heroes who are coincidentally on the spot. He looks at the operator who seems to be focused on his current work.

With a final click, the screen came to life showing the recovered recording. Sitch remained silent as he watched the Dragon level monster obliterating the city surroundings with a swing of its fists. Seeing the destruction made him sweat at the thought of being there. Then he spotted a small line flying towards the monster, later on revealing it to be a man around his teens with silver hair and clothes that mainly focuses on black.

"Is he a hero?" Sitch asked. The operator shook his head.

"No sir, we attempted to search his appearance on the Hero list, but we couldn't find any." The operator said, making Sitch surprised at the fact that a non-hero is facing off a monster like that.

"I see." Thinking about it, most S-class heroes were promoted not because of him but because of his colleague's choice. While he does admit that he was a part of it, occasionally he would rebuke them at the thought of using heroes as money-tools for their selfish deeds. He shook his head at the thought then focusing back on the screen. Then, his eye begins to widen at the next scene portrayed.

"P-Psychic powers?" He muttered, trying to comprehend the scenario on the screen.

The silver-haired man raised his hand as the monster rose up from the ground, then its body began to twist in the goriest way possible followed by a massive hellstorm up in the sky. The monster collided with the calamity as its organs got ripped from the spiral storm.

Sitch was taken aback when Tatsumaki was not the one who killed it, but he was completely caught-off guard when a man, not even registered as a hero, had defeated a Dragon-level Threat with ease. And what is even more surprising is that this man has the power similar to the two known psychic sisters.

"Notify the higher-ups. Send a team to find the man's location and bring him here."

"Yes sir." The operator begins to type, then finishes it with a loud click. "And if he refuses?"

"If he declines, don't force him." Seeing the video clip was enough to make him shiver at the thought of pissing him off. "If possible, search for further information about this man."

"Yes sir." Sitch gave a tired sigh. Looking back at the screen, he looked at the man's expression. It was cold, devoid of any signs of solicitude emotions. He is used to seeing such expression, Heroes tend to act edgy and unfriendly due to their pride and high ego, which is understandable considering that they are the ones with superpowers and such. He pinched the bridge of his bulb-shaped nose, trying to comprehend this sudden development.

"Just who is this man?"

A/N:

Yup, I know it's too short. I have shits to do in my life right now so I don't really have much time writing within this month. Well in time, I'm definitely gonna continue this.

That said, stay safe and see ya in the next update!
