Alrighty then! With most of the hassle told from the disaster that was my second year at Karasuno, I suppose it is around the time that we go to my third year!

The fateful year where everything happens, the year that Karasuno became known to Miyagi once more.

We were going to take everyone by storm!

Just… you know, as soon as Shoyo and Kageyama stopped fighting.

"Are you sure you two are siblings?" Suga asked me mere seconds after Daichi threw the bickering duo outside the gym. "The personalities couldn't be any different."

I laughed. "Yes, Shoyo is very much my little brother. Though I can understand the confusion."

At that moment, Yamaguchi and Tsukishima entered the gym. Looking a bit startled.

I waved over to them. "Hey there, are you two going to join the club as well?"

Tsukishima nodded.

Yamaguchi actually spoke up. "Ah yes, nice to meet you. I'm Yamaguchi Tadashi."

I gave him a sunny smile. "Hinata Ren, nice to meet you two. What's blondie's name?"

That made Tsukishima acknowledge my existence, by glaring at me. "Tsukishima Kei."

Ah, such a tsundere.

"We'll have to wait a little bit until the other two get over themselves but then we can start with a tryout match to see on what level you play." I told them.

Now, I know that Takeda would become our coach now but well, he didn't know anything about volleyball quite yet. It didn't matter to me too much so I just designed the training plan for our new first years.

Suga spoke up, reminding me that he was still in the gym. "A few of us will be joining you, but we'll have to wait a bit for Daichi and the other two first years."

Tsukishima scoffed. "How did they already mess up on their first day."

I shrugged. "Old grudges or something. They'll get over it though."

"They'd better." Daichi said, walking into the gym. "The principal is coming soon to watch us, something about making sure that we're not wasting time in here."

Ah, right. The fucking principal. The man that was impossible to discuss with. He seemed dead set on the fact that our club was a waste of time and space.

He could go fuck himself.

Good thing I knew that he would get a volleyball to the face courtesy of one Hinata Shoyo. I would have to try my hardest not to laugh then, I didn't want to make things harder on Daichi.

I could laugh about it later.

Eventually Shoyo and Kageyama returned to the gym. Not arguing anymore so that's a plus.

It took Shoyo all this time to notice me inside the gym. "Hey Ren! I made it!"

I laughed. "You sure did. Good to see you here."

I playfully ruffled his hair. "No more fighting with your teammates now okay?"

He pouted. "I know that."

"You two are brothers?" Tsukishima asked, unknowingly causing a little flash of unease to spread through my chest.

Shoyo also picked up on it and frowned. "No, we're siblings."

"That's the same thing idiot." Kageyama mumbled, carefully making sure that Daichi didn't hear him.

"It's not." Shoyo's voice started trembling with rage. "Ren is my sibling. Not my brother."

"Okay!" I interrupted loudly. "Let's start those try out matches shall we?"

"But they're-"

"Shoyo, I haven't told them." I whispered into his ear. "So drop it for now, okay?"

He nodded swiftly. "Gotcha."

The others gave us a few odd looks. I distracted them from the matter.

"Hey! I said that we'd do those try out matches didn't I? Tsukishima-kun and Yamaguchi-kun on one side, Shoyo and Kageyama-kun on the other. One of our second years will be joining each time for a three on three match. Get going!"

Knowing when not to ask, our new club members got ready for the little match with the third years observing the match. They each gave me an odd look, which promised a private conversation after practice.

Yay… looks like I get to come out to the team. Great…

At any rate, the match went the same as in canon. The super quick got developed, Takeda, bless his heart, was introduced and the principal lost his wig.

So really, it wasn't that bad of a day.

And then… practice ended.

Which left me with the other third years to finish cleaning up.

Even Ennoshita and Tanaka decided to stay behind.

Oh boy.

I know the signs of a confrontation when I see them.

I sighed deeply, mentally preparing myself for the worst. "Okay, out with it. I know you want to say something so say it."

At least they had the decency to look sheepish.

Daichi started the conversation, as I had expected. "We're just curious about what Shoyo said earlier this afternoon."

"What did he mean with that?" Suga took over. "You're his sibling, but not his brother?"

"Yeah, pretty much." Okay, the sooner I get this over with the sooner I can get home and scream into my pillow. "Have you guys ever heard of the term genderfluid?"

"Huh, whazzat?" Tanaka unintelligently let out. "Is it edible?"

Ennoshita hit him over the head before Daichi could. "No you idiot."

"I've got to confess I don't know what that is either." Daichi said, a visible look of confusion on his face.

"Well, to explain it in the most basic of terms." This was done so that even Tanaka understood it, hopefully. "I am neither a boy or a girl, I sort of, switch? On some days I feel more masculine, more like- like a guy I guess- and others I feel more feminine. Like a girl. If that makes sense."

Suga nodded slowly. "I think I've heard of something like that before… I think it was called non-binary."

I felt a smile spread over my face. "Yeah, it's kinda similar. The difference between non-binary and genderfluid is really hard to explain. Just… just know that sometimes I feel more feminine. Or more masculine."

Tanaka gained a look of understanding. "So basically, you change uh, by the day?"

"Yeah, if that's what makes you understand it."

"Cool." Daichi said that so nonchalantly I did a spit take.

"It's… cool?"

"Yeah."

I narrowed my eyes in suspicion. "You guys, don't have a problem with it? Like none?"

"Nah, if anything I'm surprised it took you this long to come out." Suga waved my concerns off. "You're not exactly subtle with your sexuality after all."

Ah, yeah. That's true.

"Wait," Ennoshita spoke up, "what even is your sexuality? You're not one gender, so being homosexual doesn't feel like it fits with you."

I grinned, feeling a lot more at ease with everything getting out. "I'm pansexual, which basically means that gender doesn't matter to me at all. And uh, because I don't qualify with just one gender I also use different pronouns."

Ennoshita nodded. "You use they and them, right? I've heard of that before."

I nodded, happy that they were being so understanding.

Daichi tried to ruffle my hair, but I avoided him with practiced precision. "I'm happy that you trust us with this information."

"You really don't have to go full dad on me, Dadchi."

That made him groan. "I swear, if the first years start calling me Dadchi I'm killing you."

I smiled innocently, Tanaka mimicking my expression. "You're a little too late for that."

"Okay, that's it. Time to die you two!"

Suga and Ennoshita just laughed as Tanaka and I tried our hardest to escape a mad Daichi.

All was well.

Then, canon happened. The announcement of the Seijo practice match.

Oh joy.

Being the unimpressed bastard that I am I immediately texted Iwaizumi.

RenBitch: Iwaizumi

RenBitch: Care to explain?

Iwazilla: Blame Oikawa, it was his idea

RenBitch: Alright, I'll do just that for making one of my friends feel insecure about his ability

Iwazilla: You sound mad

RenBitch: Do I now?

RenBitch: Can I kick his ass?

Iwazilla: Only if you let me record

RenBitch: Sure

"Hinata-san, who are you texting?" Kageyama asked me, curiously looking at my phone.

"A friend." I simply answered him, this blueberry didn't have to know I was friends with one of his seniors.

"I feel bad for him then, because you were glaring pretty intensely at your screen." Tanaka pointed out.

I shrugged. "My friend's on the Seijo team. So I was asking some things."

"You have friends outside of the club?" Suga pretended to wipe away a tear. "I'm so proud of you."

"If you don't want me to call you mom, don't act like one." I pointed out.

He was right though… pretty much the only friends I had were in the volleyball club. I didn't care though, these guys were the only friends I needed.

"Oh, you mean Iwaizumi-san?" Shoyo, my adorable little brother with no filter, mindlessly said.

I could see the gears turning in Kageyama's head. "Yep, that's him."

"You know Iwaizumi-san?" Finally Kageyama put it together.

"You know him too?" Yamaguchi asked. "Does anyone else know him?"

The others shook their heads.

"Iwaizumi-san was my senior back in junior high." Kageyama admitted. "Together with.. Oikawa-san. Who probably asked for this match."

I nodded, grimacing slightly. "Yeah, I just got confirmation of that."

I crossed my arms. "Oikawa's also the one that wanted Kageyama to play for the match. The bitch-"

"Language Hinata!" Daichi scolded me, I ignored him.

"- is going to get one hell of an ass kicking when I see him. Don't worry, Iwaizumi said it was fine."

"Just because his teammate says it's fine doesn't mean you should actually do it!"

I ignored Daichi again. "He even said that he would record the entire thing. So I guess that's something to look forward to."

Suga chuckled. "Just because I don't get to play, you're willing to attack a fan favorite player?"

"Absolutely." I looked Suga right in the eye. "He won't be a fan favorite anymore when I'm done with him. No one will be able to recognise him."

Takeda decided that was the ideal time to speak up. "Hinata Ren. You will not attack the captain of a team, no matter what. Do you understand?"

I pouted. "Not even if-"

"No."

"But-"

"No."

"Fine. I guess I can play nice."

Takeda glared at me, a sight almost as scary as a mad Daichi. "Do you understand?"

"I understand." I hung my head in defeat.

Tsukishima was laughing at me, the prick. "I guess even our seniors can't defy the teachers."

You want to laugh at me glasses? Two can play that game. "I think someone's forgetting that I still decide what we do during practice. Would you like to run some extra laps?"

"That's an abuse of power, Hinata-san. Don't you want to give a good impression on your underclassmen?"

"No. Now perish."

Fortunately for Tsukishima, Daichi decided to stop me before I could tear him to shreds in the form of extra drills. I'd get him next time.

So, a few days passed by. With me mostly working hard to make sure that Shoyo doesn't die from his nerves. Kid gets those far too much if you asked me. Not that it mattered, he was my little brother. Nerves or no nerves.

Let's just hope he doesn't throw up on any of us…

Well, aside from Oikawa being a prick I was excited to play. Mostly because I would also get the chance to see Iwaizumi again. There's no way I could ever get enough of him.

That sounded desperate…

The others on my team were more apprehensive. Probably because they weren't looking forward to this all too much. It was a bold thing to demand a starter to sit on the bench, no matter what team you were on. Frankly, it was just bad manners.

So no, the others weren't stoked.

What was funny though was that I stumbled across that intimidation scene starring Tanaka, Tsukishima and Kageyama.

Yep, that scene's the best.

"Don't say such things Tanaka-san," Tsukishima gained the most sarcastic grin I had ever seen, "look, you've scared those poor elites. I feel sorry for them now."

Tanaka smiled as well, teeth fully bared. "You're right, we should reserve the bullying for the match."

I snorted, before quickly getting myself back together.

"Oi, you two." I called out to them, relishing in the fact that they both stiffened up at the sound of my voice. "What are you doing?"

"Nothing…?"

I sighed. "You're not supposed to answer that as a question. Get inside before Daichi figures out what you're up to."

I made sure to smile completely innocently. "And you know what he does to rude teammates."

Well now, that made it seem like Daichi was a tyrant. He wasn't, not even close, but Kindaichi and Yahaba didn't need to know that.

Nope, I said all that for the sole purpose of those two getting the wrong idea.

From the looks of things, Tsukishima had picked up on my plan.

"Understood Hinata-san, I'd rather not face another one of Sawamura-san's-" Here Tsukishima shuddered for dramatic effect. "-punishments."

Oh yes, this is fun.

"You know," I aimed my gaze at the two Seijo players, "there's something I noticed."

Kindaichi got the courage to speak. "What is it?"

His tone did not sound too friendly, but given the show we just had… it was understandable.

I waved it off. "I couldn't help but notice that your actual setter seems to be missing. What's up with that?"

So what if my tone got a bit more hostile at the end? I just wanted to tear Oikawa apart for demanding that Suga stay on the bench. Fucking rude asshole.

"A-Ah- well you see…" Yahaba stumbled to get the words out. "He's got a… doctor's appointment and will be late?"

My smile expanded, which apparently made me all the more intimidating despite my short stature. "Oh my? He's late? How rude. Especially after he went out of his way to put in that ridiculous demand."

"Hinata Ren." Oh, is that Daichi's borderline mad voice? It is.

I cheerfully waved at him. "Heya Daichi, you need anything?"

He tapped his foot on the ground, not saying a word.

"...Okay I get it, let's go."

If Daichi noticed that Kindaichi and Yahaba flinched when he spoke he didn't comment on it. Perfect.

I waved goodbye to the duo and walked with the rest of the team, that was watching with no lack of amusement, inside of the gym.

Once inside Daichi gave me a lecture about proper manners when dealing with an opposing team, it went in one ear and out the other.

Seijo also decided to grace us with their presence.

Whilst the rest was intimidated, or glaring at them, I waved at Iwaizumi with a happy smile.

He returned it.

I swear my heart skipped a beat. How dare he be so handsome!

"Yo," He greeted me once he got a bit closer, "it's been awhile since we could talk like this."

I laughed. "Too true, did you punch any more trees whilst you didn't see me?"

Apparently that was the wrong thing to say as Iwaizumi got visibly ticked off.

"Did you have to remind me of that?"

"Yes."

We didn't get the chance to say anything more as Iwaizumi was called away to warm up, with me doing the same thing.

I shall not mention the first part of the match in order to spare Shoyo some serious humiliation.

So… uh. Let's get to the part where Oikawa entered.

His arrival was signaled by the severe amount of squeals coming from the constant girl hord that followed him.

"He's here." I all but growled. "The prick."

"How do you know?" Daichi asked, not believing me at all.

I glared at the stands. "You can hear it from the mindless banshees following the pretty face around. Won't be a pretty face when I mash it in."

If looks could kill I would be a pile of ash on the ground. Who knew that Takeda could be so intimidating?

Iwaizumi probably heard me judging from the amused snort he let out.

I will not describe to you how the rest of the match went because we all know. Shoyo and Kageyama are awesome for getting that ball so close to that asshole's face. Small joys.

They should've hit him, it might've cost us the match but it would be so worth it.

...Maybe that's why Kageyama didn't toss to me, because he knew that I would break Oikawa's nose.

"Iwaizumi." I drawled to my friend after the match. "My coach says that I can't hit Oikawa, I don't suppose you're willing to do it for me?"

Iwaizumi blinked twice before gaining a devilish smile. "With pleasure."

He immediately spun on his heel and made a beeline for his friend. I watched with unhidden amusement as Iwaizumi kicked Oikawa right in the back.

I even let out a laugh at the sound Oikawa let out.

Oikawa glared at me.

I waved cheerily, purposefully badly hiding my contempt for him.

Let him know that I don't like him. Fucking trash boy.

I used to like him so much when my life was still an anime. But now that I had befriended everyone on Karasuno… well demanding that Suga stay out of the match was just plain insulting and I had to stand up for my friends. Even if that meant getting angry at one of the most beloved characters in Haikyuu.

Worth it.

Ahem! When both teams left, or were planning to leave, I decided to search for Iwaizumi. He and I hadn't had the chance to talk face to face since the day we met. So this was a precious opportunity.

I ain't about to waste it.

Fortunately for me, Iwaizumi seemed to have the same idea.

"Not going to punch any trees this time?" I teased, knowing what reaction I would get out of him.

As expected, that pissed Iwaizumi off. "Shut up! Do you have to bring that up every time?!"

I nodded seriously. "Absolutely, it is my duty as your friend."

"You're the worst."

"So I've been told."

All previous tensions faded away at that and we exchanged grins, bumping fists.
