Thalia's POV

Driving in the car her rapid breathing is the only thing she could hear in the silent car. Until a bomb exploded behind, blasting the car into the air as the door was ripped off its hinges and she was thrown out the vehicle by an invisible force.

A second explosion shook the ground next to her missing her by a hair. A very small hair. The car burst into bright orange flames singeing her dark hair as she scrambled to her feet dashing through the forest.

It'll make it harder for them to find me she thought. The forest around her growing darker until his hands would've become invisible if it weren't for the night vision she'd only discovered she had. She knew she couldn't outrun them, no matter how fast she was. She could see but they were fast.

Her only chance at making it out of this alive was to hide. She could climb a tree or hide in a close-by cave, she wasn't picky, how could she be.

But how could she hide without them seeing her, without them blasting her with the freaky guns they carried around with them like a second limb.

Then it hit her like a slap in the face that shook the sense into her scrambled brain.

They couldn't see her. They wouldn't see her because she was the one with the night vision. They were relying on their ears, listening to her mad dash through the trees. She immediately made a conscious effort to stop making so much damn noise which proved difficult with his sprained ankle. (a/n I tried so hard to not include the word dam instead of the normal damn, it helped that my sister was looking over my shoulder and giving me that look that says 'i know what you want to do so don't do it.' She slaps hard.)

She had to climb that tree or find the cave or it'd be the last thought she'd ever have. She came to the foot of a witch-like tree, that seemed almost impossible to climb.

How am I going to get up there?

She thought she could hear their thundering footsteps getting closer and closer and closer until she felt like they were right behind her. She felt paralyzed with fear and panic. Her body seized up and she shot through the air. The girl felt like her face was peeling off because of the speed she was now flying at. She had somehow flown up so that now she was floating above the trees. she suppressed the urge to scream in terror because they'd hear that, and no matter how much she was afraid of heights she wouldn't allow herself to be killed by them.

she had to fly lower, for more than one reason, and with that, she floated down slowly until she was standing on the top branch of the tree." still too high" she muttered to her self

The bare tree offered no protection and she knew that if they could see she would've been dead ten times already.

She would have to stay hiding here until they left, or maybe she could fly away, really low though. She closed her eyes and tried to think of herself flying. She opened her eyes.

She was still on the tree, and it looked like it would snap if she didn't get off it soon.

well there goes my plan on staying in this tree she thought.

then for the second time today, it hit her.

She hadn't thought of flying, it had just happened. Her distress had done it for her. Instead, now she thought about how she would die if she didn't get off the flimsy branch that people called a tree.

She opened her eyes a second time praying she was in the air. She looked down and miraculously she was. She was floating. 2 days ago if someone had told her she would be able to fly she would have laughed at them and referred them to a psychiatrist

But too late she realized that they could still get her. They could see her now. The cursed moon was saying " hey look I found her for you, you can kill her now", how she hated that moon.

She needed to get away, but where could she go. There was no mum or dad to go home to, to fix her ankle and to kiss it better. They were gone, killed by the very same people who were here to kill her.
