Chapter 1-Tommy's Discovery.

Tommy was on his way back home from a trip to the Gotham City Gamestop. It was chilly that night, unusual for a summer night.

"Man, sure wish that weather would make up its mind." Tommy said as he read the case of Super Smash Bros Ultimate. Suddenly, as he walked by a nearby trash can, he saw it shake and he could've declared he heard something in it.

"What's that?" he asked. He walked closer with caution and opened the trash can. He saw nothing before a furry face with big eyes jumped in front of him. He fell back in fright before he slowly got back up and looked at the creature. It was a small creature about the size of a three year old that had brown and white fur, big ears, tiny three-fingered hands, and eyes about the size of golf balls. It looked at him as its ears rose. It made a sound of interest.

"What are you?" Tommy asked as he picked him up and took him out of the trash can.

"Mogwai." the creature said.

"What?" Tommy asked as he looked him over, "How do I know you're not some kind of gizmo or something?" he said before the creature started to make a sound like giggling.

"What's so funny?" Tommy asked.

"Gizmo." the creature said.

"Hmm?" Tommy asked.

"Gizmo. Gizmo." the creature repeated.

"I guess you like that word, right?" Tommy asked.

The creature nodded.

"I've gotta show you to my friends." Tommy said before he wrapped him in his coat and took him back to Wayne Manor, where the rest of his friends were waiting.

"Man, when's Tommy gonna get back? We can't have our Smash Bros All-Nighter without him." Jon asked.

"I'm sure he's probably on his way back." Lisa said.

"He better be." Rex said.

As if on cue, Tommy walked through the door.

"Hey, Tommy, what took you so long?" Andy asked.

"You guys won't believe what I found!" Tommy said before he started to show the creature, only for it to start going, "Light bright! Light bright!"

Tommy took the hint and quickly dimmed the lights before he slowly brought the creature out.

"Awwwwwwww!" Lisa, Katie, and Chen went.

"What is it?" Mark asked.

"It said Mogwai or something. I just call him Gizmo. I think he likes it." Tommy said.

"Gizmo, huh?" Rex asked as Gizmo was wandering around.

"Where did you find him?" Cole asked.

"In a trash can. I think he was looking for something to eat." Tommy said.

"Huh." said Chen as she watched Gizmo walk around.

At that point, Alfred came in with a plate of sweets and noticed Gizmo.

"My, what an unusual creature!" Alfred said.

"Hey, Alfred, do you think Mom and Dad would let me keep him?" Tommy asked.

"I don't know, Young Master Tommy. Perhaps you'd better ask them yourself." Alfred said.

"Well, before we do that, how about we analyze him in the Batcave?" Andy said.

"Good idea." Tommy said.

About an hour later, at the Hall of Justice...

"So it's agreed. We can have our post-victory celebrations when we feel we've really earned them." Flash said.

"(Sigh) Yes, Flash, but post-battle festivities are not the top priority here." Hawkgirl said.

"I know. Just saying." Flash said.

"More iced tea, anyone?" Lois asked as she brought them a tray from the kitchen.

"Thank you, Lois." Martian Manhunter said.

Suddenly, the Justice League heard a knock at the door.

"Mom, Dad, can we come in?" Tommy called.

"The kids?" Wonder Woman asked.

Batman brought up a screen that showed the kids at the door of the Hall of Justice.

"Is it something urgent, Tommy?" Batman asked.

"Well, not really. We just need you to have a look at something. By the way, can we have our Hall of Justice privileges back?" Tommy asked.

"Kids, don't you remember what happened the last time you came here when we left you alone?" Superwoman asked.

(FLASHBACK)

"Hey, guys, come on! Look at what's happened!" Andy said as he looked at the destroyed conference room. Mark and Katie had tried to race around the Hall of Justice with Tommy on a Super Speed Board and Rex flying as fast as possible. Lisa, Cole, Chen, and Andy had tried to convince them not to do it, but they didn't listen. Now, this had happened.

"Oh, man, now we've done it!" Tommy said.

"AHEM!" everyone jumped. They looked to see their parents with annoyed expressions.

After that incident, they thankfully weren't grounded, but, well, as Wonder Woman said...

"Until you kids can behave alone better, the Hall of Justice is off-limits to you."

(END FLASHBACK)

"Right, but honestly, we didn't think it would get that crazy. We should've listened, though. We promise next time that we'll be more careful. We'll stick to the running room like you said." Chen said.

"Does that mean you won't be causing anymore trouble when we leave you here alone?" Black Canary asked.

"No, it'll never happen again. We promise." Tommy said.

"Okay, then, consider your Hall of Justice privileges reinstated." Wonder Woman said before she pushed a button and the doors opened.

About 2 minutes later, the kids walked into the conference room, where Lois brought them all cups of tea.

"So, what is it you kids want us to look at?" Batman asked.

"Tommy found this strange creature in a trash can and we only figured out its species name. We thought maybe you guys could tell us more." Lisa said. Tommy then brought Gizmo out of the box he had him in, seeing how the room wasn't brightly lit.

"Well, look at that!" Hawkgirl said as they looked at Gizmo.

"What is he?" Kara asked.

"He said he's a Mogwai or something." Mark said.

"Mogwai? Also, he can talk?" Superwoman asked.

"To a degree. We scanned him on the Baggage computer and all it told us was that the Mogwai is a creature of unknown Chinese origin." Katie said.

"Hmm, he doesn't look dangerous." Green Lantern said.

"We don't think so either. By the way, we call him Gizmo. It's what Tommy named him." Lisa said.

"Gizmo, huh?" Wonder Woman said as he wandered around the table.

"Hey, Dad, didn't you go to China a few years ago? Mom said you went there after you met her." Chen said.

"You are correct, Chen. I happened to hear some things about the Mogwai." Martian Manhunter said.

"What are they, Mr. J'onzz?" Tommy asked.

"Firsthand, it requires much responsibility. Especially due to three rules required. First, keep him out of bright light. He doesn't like it, especially sunlight. That will kill him." Martian Manhunter said.

"Yikes." Rex said.

"Second, don't get him wet. Don't give him any water to drink, and no matter what, don't give him a bath." Martian Manhunter said.

"Well, what about this, then?" Tommy asked, holding his cup of tea.

"I believe it was just water he can not have. Any other beverage is fine. But there is one more rule I have heard. Apparently, this is most important." Martian Manhunter said.

"What is it?" Tommy asked.

"No matter how much he cries, no matter how much he begs, never let him eat after midnight. Not until morning to play it safe." Martian Manhunter said.

"Mr. J'onzz, I understand the first rule, but what about the other two? What happens if you break them?" Tommy asked.

"I cannot say for certain." Martian Manhunter said.

"Well, that pretty much answers our questions. Except one." Lisa said.

"What's that?" Batman asked.

"Who gets to keep him?" Lisa asked.

"Well, that should be obvious. Me, of course. I'm the one who found him." Tommy said.

"But, I was the one who led us here!" Lisa said.

"I got our questions answered!" Chen said before both of them tried to pull Gizmo out of Tommy's hands, only for him to struggle.

"No more arguing, kids." Wonder Woman said as she walked over and took Gizmo.

"Now, listen, Tommy is the one who found him and named him. He is a responsible person. Gizmo is his." Wonder Woman said.

Tommy smiled widely before he rushed over and hugged her, "Mom, thank you! You're the best!" he said as she smiled and hugged him back.

"Well, kids, if you want to have your All-Nighter, you'd better head back to Wayne Manor. But, if you make a mess, clean it." Batman said before he sent them back via teleportation.
