Just another Drakgo song fic because I can. Ten songs from my shuffle turned into shorts. These were all supposed to be short (written in the length of the song), but some are not so much. The song may have finished and I paused shuffle so I could get carried away ...

Any clarifications or TWs will be below the songs and the quotes in italics. The years beside the songs refer to the year the fic takes place.

Radioactive (Imagine Dragons) – 2005

"I'm breaking in, shaping up, then checking out on the prison bus."

This particular cop car was squished, especially with the officer in the passenger's seat refusing to move up his chair. "Shouldn't have robbed that bank then," he said when Drakken complained.

A quiet thump, and the driver pulled up short. "What was that?"

"Ahh!" Both men screamed as the roof of the car glowed bright green, then exploded. As they ducked away from the Bang!, Drakken undid his seatbelt and reached up, his gloved hand meeting another. His sidekick pulled him out through the ceiling and Drakken grinned. "Excellent timing, Shego."

Flowers (Eva Noblezada) – 2001

"Flowers bloom until they rot and fall apart."

One of her brothers was still talking, but Shego wasn't really listening. Instead, she was examining her gloves, trying to figure out if there was any way to make them more threatening. Claws, maybe?

"Shego?"

"Hmm?" She looked up at Mego, who had called her name. "What?"

"Meeting over." He gestured to the rest of the table. The others were staring at her.

"Oh."

Hego frowned. "Were you listening to anything we said?"

"Uh, no."

He sighed. "Shego –"

Shego got up from the table and walked away without another word. She didn't need this. She still had things to pack.

Unsteady (X Ambassadors) – 2010

"Hold on to me."

*This is the start of the fic lengths getting away from me. TW for death and mention of child abuse. Related to 20 Questions but you don't need to read that first.

"Dr. D?" Shego put her keys on the tray by the front door and slid off her sneakers. "Are you home?" His car was in the driveway. Shego frowned and headed back to the bedroom. "Drakken?"

He wasn't in the bedroom, but the light under the bathroom door was on and she heard retching behind it. She knocked. "Yo, Dr. D, you ok?"

"Give me a minute." She sat back on their bed and waited. After another moment, Drakken emerged, pale and sweaty.

"Damn, you look sick."

"Thank you, Shego." Drakken sighed and ran a hand down his face. "My father died today."

"Oh, wow." She didn't know what else to say. Drakken's father had been arrested when Drakken was 12. His mother had absolutely forbidden him from visiting the man in prison, so Drakken hadn't seen him in … 30 years? Was that right?

Drakken leaned back against the wall. "I just got off the phone with the prison. They're planning on burying him tomorrow, since we don't have any other plans."

"Did you want to go?"

"I'm not sure."

Shego stood. "I'll go with you," she said. "If you decided you wanted to." Drakken shrugged, and then buried his face in his hands. Shego went to him and wrapped her arms around his shaking frame.

Shego handed Drakken his tea and he looked up at her with tired eyes. "Thanks."

She sat beside him on the couch. "How's your mom?"

Drakken shrugged. "She doesn't want to talk about it. You know how she is." He loved his mother, truly. He also knew she lived largely in denial.

"You never told me your brother's name," Shego said, taking his hand.

"Brandon. Brandon Lipsky. He was older than me, but he never treated me like a dumb kid, you know? He was a good brother."

"He would have been proud of you," she said. "I know I am."

They didn't go to bury Drakken's father, but they did go three days later, to see the stone. Besides the prison employees, Drakken and Shego were the only people at the graveyard. As they walked, Shego glared up at the sky. Too sunny for such an occasion. It should at least be overcast.

She squeezed his hand through their black gloves as they arrived at the stone, and he squeezed gently back. "It feels weird, to be sad about him," he said.

"You're allowed to be sad. You have the right to mourn everything he took away from you."

Drakken nodded. "Yeah."

Shego rested her head on his shoulder and wrapped her free hand around his arm. "I'm here for you, ok?"

He was trembling again, and tears slipped down his cheeks. "I know."

Gorgeous (Idina Menzel) – 2007

"And when we are drowning in the noise I'm gonna stop to hear your voice."

Even given the short amount of time he'd been part-plant, Drakken liked to think he had complete control over his vines. But the moment Shego smiled at him the way she did, his plant snaked out the back of his neck and wrapped itself tightly around her, pulling them together.

Nonononono! He grinned sheepishly at Shego and willed the vine to retreat back into his body. Drakken and Shego had been together for a week at this point, had already said "I love you," but they had specifically talked about keeping it between them. Shego especially had wanted not to come out as a couple, and Drakken wanted to respect that. Really. It was just that his vine apparently hadn't gotten the memo.

"S-Sorry," he stuttered. As his plant slowly unraveled – the villains in the audience wouldn't stop shouting at them to kiss – Shego met his eyes and asked, "Do you want to kiss me, D?"

"B-But, you said you didn't want –"

"Fuck that. Do you want to kiss me?"

Drakken's breath caught. "Yes."

Shego wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed him, hard. The villains, if anything, only got louder, but Drakken hardly noticed. His vine was gone, but his hands were on her waist and he was kissing her back …

They broke apart, both grinning. Frugal Lucre was standing on his seat and yelling. On the other side of the room, Mego and Wego looked absolutely stunned. Shego gave him a gentle shove and Drakken stumbled back to the podium. He leaned into the mic and said, "My partner, Shego." The hooting from the villains became thunderous, and Drakken had to wait for them to quiet down before he could speak again.

Beside him, Shego watched as he accepted his medal, thanked the UN for this honor, blah, blah, blah. No, she hadn't wanted to go public with their relationship so quickly, but oh well. She had never really known what to expect when it came to working with Drakken, anyway. But if she hadn't been ok with that, she supposed she never would have fallen in love with him.

Hear Me (Kelly Clarkson) – 2025

"I fall, but I try. I need someone to understand."

*Related to This Is Not A Death Fic.

Kim opened the door a crack, just wide enough for Drakken to peer inside. "Is Shego here?"

"She's not thrilled with you right now, honestly."

"Please, I just wanted to apologize. I … I know I was being selfish. I see that now. I just wanted to see if she'd talk to me?"

Kim glanced over her shoulder to where Shego was sitting on the couch. Shego nodded, and Kim let Drakken in, him sidestepping carefully to avoid Kim's very pregnant stomach. "Shego –"

"Let's take a walk." Shego grabbed her jacket and marched out of the house, Drakken scurrying after her. Kim shut the door behind them and made her way back to the couch, her hand on her stomach as she settled against the cushions. Shego had shown up about an hour ago, yelling and ranting about how Drakken wanted to donate the hydrangea tree in the backyard to some science museum and how he didn't understand why she didn't want him to and didn't she know that this was his dream and blah, blah, blah. It took about an hour to get Shego to admit she wanted the tree there because it had been the only thing she had of Drakken for the almost month she thought he was dead.

Looking back at the front door, Kim smiled to herself. They probably wouldn't be back, now that Drakken had apologized. Most likely, Kim would call the next morning to check in and Shego would tell her everything was fine. Because they were Drakken and Shego. They fought (often), but they also made up (just as often). Usually, just as soon as Drakken realized why they were really fighting in the first place.

Grow As We Go (Ben Platt) – 2007

"You can change right next to me."

"Mr. Drakken –"

"Dr. Drakken."

The UN officer or whatever they were sighed. "I don't think you understand. We're offering you a blanket pardon for all of your crimes –"

"I understand," Drakken said, sitting forward in his chair. "I won't accept unless Shego gets one too."

The UN guy, man, whatever, exchanged looks with his conspirator. "The woman you call Shego is wanted in multiple countries. Grand larceny. First-degree murder."

"No Shego, no plant mutagen." Having said his piece, Drakken sat back and waited.

Drops of Jupiter (Train) – 2019

"Did you make it to the Milky Way to see the lights all faded? And that Heaven is overrated?"

"I don't understand," Professor Hernandez said. "You don't want to go into space?"

Drakken shook his head. He and Hernandez were the last ones left in the lab at work discussing GJ's upcoming scientific exploit. "Nope."

"But this is the chance of a lifetime!"

"I'm good," Drakken reiterated, smirking to himself. "You go ahead."

If only this guy knew.

Demons (Imagine Dragons) – 2005

"Don't get too close. It's dark inside."

*TW for explicit mention of sexual assault and trauma. Related to 20 Questions.

Drakken woke from a deep sleep to the dulcet sounds of his hungover sidekick throwing up in the bathroom. Quickly recalling the events of last night, he hauled himself off her bed and followed, holding her hair back as she retched again. Eventually, Shego sat back on her knees and spat the taste into the toilet. "Ugh." She turned to Drakken with bloodshot eyes. It hurt to move her eyes, and all of her muscles ached. "What did I drink last night?"

"Er … You said vodka and absinthe. And you said you were on cocaine."

"Where the fuck did I get cocaine?" she mumbled. Her eyes went wide and she seemed to realize which room this bathroom was connected to. Or, more precisely, that they had both been sleeping in her bed. "I – Did we –"

Drakken shook his head. "Oh, no. No. You, um, I came in because you woke me up at about 3 a.m. with your music. You just ranted for a while before you fell asleep."

"Oh." Shego frowned, studying her shaking hands before curling them into fists. "Did I … rant about anything in particular?" Shego didn't remember much after showing up at the bar and ordering six shots of vodka. She did remember though that she'd gone out in the first place because she'd wanted to forget about the day's events. Reuniting with her brothers. Nearly taking all of their powers. Given that, she could have told Drakken anything.

"Well, you mentioned your parents. You said they were addicts."

Shego took a breath. "Surprise! The evil sidekick comes from a broken home. Continue."

"You said you grew up mostly in foster care. And …" he trailed off before quickly saying. "Yeah."

"Did I … talk about any particular foster home?" Her stomach clenched, knowing before Drakken said it that she almost certainly had.

He averted his gaze. "You talked about the one before you moved into Go Tower. You mentioned your foster father. And, um, mentioned that he, um …"

"You can say 'rape,' Doc." Suddenly, Shego leaned forward again and retched, and Drakken scrambled again to grab her hair. She heaved again, but nothing came up this time, and she flushed the toilet. "Fuck. Sorry."

"We don't have to –"

"No, I want to know. What else?"

Drakken sighed. "One last thing. You mentioned a woman named Teresa. I think she was your girlfriend?"

Shego's whole body tensed. "Yes."

"And that, um, she died. On a mission. With Team Go."

Shego locked eyes with Drakken. "She died because a villain called The Bomber held her hostage. And then he blew her up when we wouldn't give him what he wanted."

"I'm sorry."

She sighed and leaned her head back against the wall. "I'm sorry you had to listen to me drunk-whine at you for however many hours until I passed out."

"Shego, I know you're a private person, and I understand that. But I want you to know you can trust me if you want to. I promise, anything you told me last night doesn't leave this room. Or your bedroom. Those two rooms."

"Hmm." She closed her eyes. "I have such a fucking headache."

"I'll let you sleep it off. Do you need anything else?"

Shego shook her head. "No." She heard him stand, heard him step over her legs and start to make his way out of the room when she opened her eyes again. "Doc?" Drakken turned back, and she said, "Thank you."

He gave her a small smile. "Anything for you, Shego." And somehow, she believed him.

Prepared (Georgia Stitt) – 2043

"Nothing compares to the silence, erasing the life we shared."

*Oh look now I'm sad.

Kim lay the flowers on the grave and stepped back into Ron's arms. She rested her head against his chest and wrapped her own arms around his waist. At last, she said, "He couldn't live without her."

"Well, we always knew that." Ron kissed the top of Kim's head and sighed. A week after Shego's death, Kim had gone to check on Drakken and found him still, not breathing. A heart attack. No history of heart problems.

"I hope wherever they are," Kim said, "they're together."

Still into You (Paramore) – 2010

"Some things just, some things just make sense and one of those is you and I."

*Just going to finish on some fluff ...

For weeks, Shego's birthday loomed over Drakken's head like a particularly frightening shadow. When Drakken turned 42 several months ago, she had gathered everyone they knew for a surprise party/BBQ in their backyard. Now, Shego was turning 30, and he had no idea what to do.

"She won't like a surprise party," he mumbled to himself. He was sitting at his lab in the former backyard shed, hoping that he would get an idea in the place where he had most of his ideas. It wasn't working.

It had to be big, right? It was Shego, and he loved her, and 30 was a big number. The thing was, though, that Shego didn't like many people. There was him and Junior and sometimes Mego and … that was probably it. He sighed and lowered his head onto the desk. And quickly rose again, a sheet of blank paper stuck to his head. That was it!

The morning she turned 30, Shego woke to the smell of pancakes and the sound of her favorite MC Honey track coming from the other room. She rubbed her eyes open and ventured into the kitchen, where Drakken was putting blueberry pancakes on a plate. "Good morning, Shego."

"'Morning." She sat at the kitchen counter. "Is this all for me?"

"Happy birthday." He kissed her on the cheek and placed the plate in front of her. "After breakfast, I was thinking we could do some shopping, just the two of us, wherever you like, and we can go to Isle's for dinner. How does that sound?"

Even though it was her favorite restaurant, they rarely went to Isle's because it was so expensive and, well, they weren't robbing banks for a living anymore. But he wanted to go for her birthday, for her. Shego grabbed the front of Drakken's shirt and pulled him in for a real kiss. When they broke apart she pressed her forehead to his and said, "That sounds perfect."
