Happy Birthday, Deku!

Also, contains some spoilers from the manga!

How Could We Forget?

Izuku grumbled to himself as he turned off his alarm. He rolled over to his side as he rubbed his tired eyes. Hero work had been crazy for him lately; bad guys were crawling all over the streets. He barely had time to sleep! He looked through the messages on his phone: there was only one new one from early this morning.

Happy Birthday, my sweet Izuku! Be safe out there, and come by here when you get off work! I'll have you a big dinner and a cake ready!

The greenette smiled at the message before finally getting out of bed and texting her back a thank you. Taking a quick shower and grabbing an extra set of clothes, he quickly headed off to his hero agency. Once he made it to his office, he changed into his hero suit and began filling out paper work from the previous few days.

"No new calls so far," All Might spoke as he entered the room. When Izuku looked up from his screen, he smiled when the older man handed him a cupcake along with a small box. "Happy Birthday, young Midoriya."

"Thank you, All Might!" Izuku smiled happily, hugging his teacher.

"Its not much, but I hope you like it," Toshinori smiled. Izuku opened the small box. It was a figurine of himself and All Might standing side by side with fists raised to the sky in victory. Izuku looked over the small figure with gentle hands, tears pooling in his bright eyes.

"What do you think?" All Might asked nervously.

"Where did you- how did you- All Might! I love it!" Midoriya cried. "Thank you so much! I'll treasure it forever!"

"I'm glad," the elder smiled. "So, do you have any plans for tonight? Going out with your friends?"

"Nah, mom said she was cooking for me! Hopefully Katsudon," Deku said excitedly.

"Ah, that's right. She told me about that earlier," the blonde remembered.

"Are things going well with mom?" Izuku chuckled. "Its crazy, my hero is dating my mom!"

"Things are great, actually. She takes really good care of me. If I'm not careful, I'll start gaining weight from all of her cooking!" All Might blushed, patting his stomach.

"You're both great for each other," Izuku smiled, longingly.

"Don't worry, my boy," Toshi spoke, putting a hand on Deku's shoulder. "Yours will come soon."

"Right," Deku smiled, nodding his head. Just then, Deku's cellphone rang. The pro hero answered and quickly jumped into action.

"A villain attack, a couple blocks away at a hospital. I've got to run," Deku quickly spoke, placing his gift on his desk. "I'll be back! Thanks again All Might!" the greenette smiled big towards his hero before jumping out of the nearby window.

"Why can't he just take the elevator?!" All Might groaned before exiting the office with a slight grin on his face.

Deku was the first one on the scene. He quickly spoke with police officers to catch up to speed. Apparently, a drug addicted villain with a super strength quirk had broken into the hospital so that he could steal high quality pain medication and sell it on the market. Izuku nodded before running inside and heading for the area of havoc. After the first five floors, he finally found the villain, hording vials of medication, foam drooling down the male's chin.

"You're pretty gross looking, aren't you?" Deku mused.

"Puny hero, you won't stop me!" the villain jumped, running straight for the greenette at incredible speed. With one swift punch towards the air, Deku used a rush of wind to send the villain flying backwards into a wall, knocking him unconscious.

"No way, that was it?" Deku wondered aloud, binding the villain and leading him towards awaiting officers. Izuku shrugged to himself while making sure that the villain was secured in a police car. Once the car was out of sight, the greenette decided to begin his routinely patrol down the streets. Making a turn at a corner, he heard a woman scream.

"Purse snatcher!"

"What's with these petty crimes today," Izuku huffed, sprinting towards the thief. "Don't worry ma'am!" Deku ran and was able to catch the other before he got too far. With a jump, he landed in front of the snatcher, scaring him so badly that the snatcher passed out with fear. Izuku rolled his eyes and picked up the fallen villain and the purse. He took both to their rightful places before returning to his patrol.

Deku would stop every so often to take pictures with his fans. Every single one of them wished him a happy birthday and some even tried to give him gifts. Of course, he couldn't accept them on the job, but he told them that he would gladly allow them to be dropped off at his agency.

He also would pullout his cell phone occasionally. No new messages other than his mom checking on him and informing his agency of recent events.

"Maybe they are just busy today," Deku reasoned with himself. Without realizing it, he had wandered a different path, towards the park. Suddenly, he heard a small cry for help.

"Mom! I'm stuck! Mommy!" a small girl cried when she realized how high in a tree she had climbed. Deku looked towards the mom, a wheelchair bound woman with a baby in her arms.

"Hold on honey!" the mother tried to calm the child.

"Don't worry!" Izuku chanted, running and jumping up towards the child. The mom sighed with relief. "Because I am here!" the greenette smiled bright as he quickly pulled the child from the tree and brought her down safely towards her mom.

"No way! Mommy! It's hero Deku!" the girl shouted excitedly, hugging and holding onto the greenette.

"Thank goodness you were here," the mom smiled, wiping her eyes. "I can't thank you enough."

"I'm just glad she's okay! You be more careful when you're climbing trees!" Izuku grinned, poking the little girl's nose.

"What do you say to Mr. Deku?" the mom asked.

"Thank you Deku! You're my number one favorite hero!" she smiled before leaning forward and kissing his cheek. Izuku smiled, blushing slightly. "You're welcome!" Izuku waved goodbye when his phone began to ring once more.

Izuku quickly rushed to the sight, a small restaurant close to his apartment: Gloria's Goodies. A crazed woman with a precision quirk was holding the owner hostage at gun point. Deku had frequented this café several times, so he was familiar with the lay out of the building. With a leap, he made it to the top of the building and entered through the second-floor bathroom window.

Quietly, he made his way down the stairs and towards the kitchen where the hostage situation was taking place. Using a pair of heat vision glasses, he noticed where the owner was being held. The hostage was sitting three feet from the woman holding the gun. Izuku quickly rounded the corner and flicked his fingers, sending a gust of wind towards the woman, knocking her back. He pushed Gloria behind himself when the woman fired a shot. The bullet grazed Izuku's arm, burning and cutting open his skin.

"Don't get in the middle of this!" the woman threatened. "I've been making perfect foods for this place for years, and she still hasn't bothered to give me a raise!"

"That's it?" Izuku asked, extending his blackwhip along the shadows of the restaurant. "Don't you want to be better than this?"

"Better than what?!" the woman shouted, keeping the gun raised, staring at the greenette. Izuku smirked, activating his blackwhip to restrain the woman, forcing her to drop her gun.

"Better than some shitty extra who doesn't even get a name in this story!" Deku huffed. While making sure the shop owner was okay, he managed to get the crazed woman to the authorities.

"Oh my," Gloria spoke, touching the injured arm. "Wont you let me patch you up? It's the least I can do really."

"Its fine, no need to worry!" Izuku insisted, rubbing the back of his head.

"I insist, young man," she smiled, leading him to a seat. She left and came back with a first aid kit. She dressed and cleaned his wound. "All better."

"Thank you, ma'am," he smiled.

"Take this," she offered, handing him a hot cocoa and a small coffee cake. "Its supposed to get colder this evening. I can't have the number one hero falling ill on my watch. Especially not on his birthday."

"Thank you, ma'am. That's really nice of you!" he smiled, giving her a quick hug before leaving the building: beginning the last of his scroll that evening.

Izuku began to grumble to himself as he made his way back to the agency. Not a single post on any social media plat form, not a single text or phone call. None of his friends remembered his birthday.

"Even people I don't recognize know its my birthday," he muttered, going into his office to change. When he opened the doors, he spotted all the presents and gift baskets sent by his fans and fellow employees. It made him smile a bit, that so many people wanted to celebrate with him. Izuku changed in to his normal clothes, a sweat shirt and jeans with red shoes, before packing up a few of the items and heading to his apartment to drop them off.

When he got to his apartment, he half expected there to be a surprise party for him, but he wasn't exactly surprised when his apartment just appeared empty. He smiled bitterly, putting away necessary items. He picked up his wallet and keys before locking the door once more and heading to his mom's house.

"At least she remembered," he told himself. He drove up to the small house, spotting his mom's and All Might's vehicles in the drive way. He climbed out of the vehicle and rang the door bell before entering.

"Mom, I'm-"

"Surprise!" a collection of voices shouted in sync. Izuku's eyes grew big when he spotted all the members from his home class room and a few others inside his mom's home. There was a big cake and decorations everywhere. Food covered the kitchen, overwhelming the greenette's senses. Izuku's breath caught in his lungs as he fought the tears that were coming to his eyes.

"You guys, really…" he mumbled, smiling so big. "You did all this for me?"

"Of course!" Uraraka smiled, jumping towards him alongside Iida and Asui. They each hugged him tight before his mom came and hugged him.

"What do you think?" All Might asked.

"This is amazing," Izuku smiled big. "I had though everyone had forgotten about me." He wiped his eyes.

"How could we forget?" Iida asked. "You're a very special person to all of us, Izuku!"

"Here, here!" Many of his former classmates agreed.

"You'd better appreciate it, Midoriya," Kirishima smirked, slinging his arm across the greenette's shoulders. "After all, we all took part in planning this!"

"Can it, shitty hair," Bakugo huffed, kicking the redhead off. "I'm the one who planned it."

"Yeah, but the rest of us put a lot of effort in," Kaminari interjected.

"Right!" Mina replied, "We had to work extra hard today to make sure no major events would happen today that would take away from your day."

"Kacchan planned it?" Izuku asked. "Wait, so you guys were behind me doing petty stuff all day?"

"Yep!" Momo smiled.

"I think the cutest part was seeing that little girl steal a kiss from Izuku," Todoroki chuckled.

"Ah?!" Bakugo huffed. "What were you doing spying on him?"

"We were in the same area is all," Todoroki replied.

"Enough talk, lets dig in!" Kirishima butted in.

"Yeah! Plus, ultra!" the crowd cheered before digging in.

The sky grew darker as the evening passed into night. Many of the guests already left save for Bakugo, Kirishima, Todoroki, Uraraka, and Iida. Izuku made his way to the front porch, a big smile covering his face. He sighed happily into the night air. He plopped down onto the stairs and watched the twinkling stars above. He heard the door open behind him, but paid it no mind. He looked to his side when he saw his childhood friend sit down beside him, hooking his arm under Deku's before placing a firm hand on his knee. Todoroki came to his other side and rested a hand on his head, putting his own head on the greenette's shoulder. Ochaco and Iida joined on Todoroki's side while Kirishima laid across Izuku and Katsuki's laps. They each gazed at the stars together, but not a word was spoke among them. The sound of chirping crickets filled the night. Glancing back, Izuku saw his mother and All Might dancing in the kitchen while finishing up the dishes. He looked towards each of his friends.

"Thank you all for making this a birthday to remember," Izuku spoke, smiling big. They each nodded and smiled in return, except for Bakugo.

"Ack, this is getting too sweet and mushy for me," he grunted, trying to escape.

"You're not going anywhere!" Izuku chuckled; he and Kirishima quickly tackled him to the porch followed by a giggling Uraraka and Iida.

Not only had Izuku realized his dream of being the number one hero, but he also had accomplished something even more important: friendships that would last lifetimes.

(A small tease, read if you want!)

(The next day)

When Izuku woke up in his apartment, he was alone in his bed, still wearing his jeans and sweat shirt. One of his shoes was on the floor, the other still on his foot. Izuku rolled out of bed. Once he stood, he felt something crinkle under his feet.

"Huh?" he asked aloud, bending down to pick it up. "A note?" he asked. He unfolded it and sat on the bed, allowing his eyes to refocus before he began to read the note.

I know this is probably not the ideal way of saying this, but here it goes anyway. I've had a crush on you since we were in our second year of school. You're helped me more than I could admit, and I don't think I'll be able to repay you for it. I've not been the best friend sometimes, but I still getting better at that. Anyways, the point of all this. I wanted to confess to you last night, but we did drink a bit, and I know that you are a light weight.

So, I wrote you a note. Cheesy, huh? I'm confessing to you through a note. This is so lame. I was too scared to do it to your face anyway. Respond when you're ready.

Meet me in that café you like so much today when I get off. I'll see you there.

Happy Birthday, Izuku.

Sincerely-

"No way!" Izuku blushed bright red when he read the name at the bottom of the page. "Holy crap!"
