A/N: Just something that popped into my head while watching the movie. Hope you like it!

Our story begins on a beautiful day in China. The flowers on the cherry blossom tree were alive in majestic blooms of rosy pink. The house in which this colorful tree associated with, was the home of Li Shang and his wife, Fa Mulan. Here they have lived for almost a year since their marriage. The green of the grass looping up the hill and past the tree, led to a vast field in which the pair trained.

At the moment, Fa Mulan is twirling with the grace of a well trained fighter, and the balance of a house broken wife. The sun started rising, just as Mulan reached the peak of her practice. Her husband was still sleeping, he had just arrived home late the previous night from a meeting with the rest of the generals. As the young women jabbed and twisted, she gradually made her way towards the dummies usually used as 'opponents.'

As she neared the nearest sack made of straw, the lush grass mumered in response to her deliberate steps. Moving to kick and then swipe with the side of her hand, Mulan made her way through her unmoving 'challengers,' refusing to capitulate until she finished the line. Once she finished the line of opposers, she turned to examine the view. What she met, however, was a warrior on horse-back making his way to her.

Clad in the usual uniform of the army, the man slipped off and strode towards Mulan. "General Shang-?" Looking back at the house, she interrupted. "Is back at the house, sleeping." Nodding, the officer only handed her a slip of paper before saluting her with a fist to his palm. Then turning, he remounted his horse and rode off back down the hill.

As she watched him leave, Fa Mulan knew that this scroll in her hands was important. As the soldier who delivered it, was one she didn't recognize. Looking down, she unrolled the paper.

'General Shang and Fa Mulan, you both are to report at the training camp in a week's time. Both of you are hereby in charge of the training of the incoming men for war.'

The young wife had to read the scroll twice, before she made her way back toward the house. There her and her husband would figure out their situation. Two days later, the couple would pack their horses, and set off for the camp in the early hours of the morning. Straight into another adventure, and straight into more quarrels to come.

A/N: Just a little random fanfic. Hope it wasn't terrible. And thanks for reading. -NR17
