Hi everyone! This story came to me while I was watching Scandal and I couldn't shake it so I had to write it down.

This won't be a very long story, I think this will be about 10 chapters long. I'm posting this as soon as I've finished writing the first five chapters so I hope that I can finish this quickly and give you guys what you want quickly.

As I do in every story, I warn you that English is not my native tongue. I speak it regularly and write in it but I am a Dutch speaking person and it is possible that I will make mistakes (grammatically or vocabulary wise)

This is an AU where the rebels were not present at the proposal and Maxon did ask Kriss to marry him. Due to circumstances, there was no rush wedding and nearly a year after the selection ended, the two aren't married yet. The King and Queen are still alive.

I hope you enjoy!

"Miss Singer, there is a visitor for you." Celeste spoke over the intercom.

I frowned, pressing on the button and spoke, "Celeste, I am busy. You know this. Get one of the others to deal with the client."

She chuckled and pressed, "No, America, this one you're going to want to meet with yourself. Trust me."

With an even deeper frown, I pushed the file I'd been working on to the side and stood up. As I stood up, I took my phone and saw that I had a notification. I wanted to look into it but remembered the client I apparently had waiting on me and who for some reason, I specifically needed to meet with.

Who the hell could it be?

Who was this important?

I got my answer as soon as I walked into the foyer, "Well, f*ck me sideways."

"It's nice to see you again," the visitor smiled, "lady America."

Quickly I turned my head to Celeste who smirked, "I told you that you'd want to meet him yourself."

"Maxon..." I breathed before turning back to the crown prince in front of me. "What can I do you for?"

"I heard about this person who popped up out of nowhere and could fix things, even make it disappear if necessary... Imagine my surprise when I found out it was you. But here I am, because I trust that you will fix this for me. For Illéa."

"Come to my office and we will talk about this case... whatever it is." I turned to Celeste, "Give the Nikson case to Grace. I have a feeling I'm going to be very busy with this case."

"Yes, ma'am."

"Good." I led Maxon to my office and offered him a seat and a drink which he declined. "What do you need me to do?"

"I need you to break off my engagement with Kriss."

I nearly spit out the drink I'd just had, "I beg your pardon?"

"My engagement with Kriss... It needs to stop, to end. It's over... Sadly my father disagrees and won't let me end it."

"Why does it need to end?" When he didn't answer, I sighed, "Look, Prince Maxon, I really want to help you but I won't help you if I don't know why. Why does it need to end and why come to me when I'm pretty sure you have a chief of staff or another minion who can fix it for you... So, why?"

"Because they work for my father and not for me."

"Okay, that is one question answered... What about the other one?"

"It's a mistake."

"A mistake?" I chuckled dryly, "You want to end your engagement because it's a mistake? You want to taint your reputation because you've made a mistake?"

He frowned, "Why are you angry about this? Yes, I've made a mistake but I want to fix it. Not just for me but for this country as well."

"Maxon! Wake up! You are the crown prince and you've made a decision. I'm sorry if it's not the one you want right now but you made up your mind back then! You made your bed, now lay in it!"

"No, I won"t. I will not marry Kriss Ambers. I'd rather revoke the throne than marry her. I made a mistake and I need you to fix it, because that's what you are, isn't it? A fixer? How did Nicoletta call you again? A gladiator?"

"Gladiator in a suit." I supplied. "She calls us gladiators in suits."

"Right, so fix this mistake for me. Please."

"Your eyes... they will be the end of me."
