Hello! Anyone who knows me knows that I like alternate universes, and that's one more. I don't own the characters, it's just a fan-to-fan story. I hope you enjoy it. Thank you for reading.

Steve dressed and looked at himself in the mirror. He was elegantly dressed in a suit tailored for him.

"Wow! Such elegance!" Danny said as he entered Steve's room.

"Danny, I wonder if I did the right thing. I think I regretted it," Steve said while still looking at himself in the mirror.

"Well, I don't have that answer, Steve. But you can't go back, you are the new Governor of Hawaii and your tenure begins in half an hour."

"You're right. Come on, It's in God's hands," Steve replied and went with Danny and Junior. Tani, Quinn and Lou would meet him at the Government Palace.

"Steve, is the new Governor and Danny the task force chief. I didn't think I would live to see this happen one day," Junior said while they were in the car.

Steve arrived and the rest of the team was there.

"Boss, don't forget, what we all hope is that you will improve the lives of those who need it most, the most vulnerable," Tani told him.

"I will try to do my best, Tani," Steve replied.

"Good luck, we are with you," Quinn told him.

"Don't forget: You are the guy!" Lou said and hugged him.

The government secretary came into the room to announce that it was time for Steve to speak and receive the post from the previous Governor and introduced him to his bodyguard.

"Mr. McGarrett, this is your personal bodyguard, Lincoln Cole."

"Bodyguard? I don't need a bodyguard!" Steve replied.

"Steve, don't start screwing things up," Danny told him.

"Not that I have anything against you," Steve told Lincoln.

Lincoln smiled. "Okay, but I need to go with you wherever you go, this is my job."

"Okay. Let's make this speech," Steve replied.

Steve survived his first day as Governor of Hawaii. He refused to live in the official residence and preferred to continue to live in his home with Danny and Junior. Lincoln accompanied him to his home and then left.

"I can't believe you refused to live in that wonderful house, Steve," Danny told him.

"My home is here, Danny."

"How are you feeling?" Junior asked him.

"Strange. It's like it's not me, do you understand me? And having to walk with a bodyguard all day behind me is very unusual. But I liked Lincoln."

"He looks like a nice guy," Junior replied.

"Yes," Steve answered.

"Brooke asked about you today when I picked up Charlie from school," Danny told Steve.

"And Emma also asked about you when I took Eddie to the vet's office as you asked," Junior said.

"I don't have time to think about women right now," Steve replied. He wished Junior and Danny good night and went to his room to rest.

The next day, Steve went to work on his new routine. He was in his new office when the secretary announced that his bodyguard had arrived.

"Okay. Tell him to come in," Steve replied and was reading some papers and the agenda that were on his desk.

Steve heard the door open while he was still reading his meeting schedule.

"Sit there and do whatever you want, Lincoln. Play some game on the phone, read a book, send messages. I only have a meeting with the vice governor this afternoon," Steve said without taking his eyes off the agenda.

"Lincoln is off today. I'm Catherine."

Steve finally took his eyes off the agenda and looked at her. "Are you also my bodyguard?"

"Yes, sir."

Steve laughed and Catherine didn't like it.

"Some problem?" She asked.

"No, no. I'm just not used to it. I'm sorry, I didn't laugh at you, I laughed at the situation. I got used to protecting and not to be protected."

"Okay," Catherine replied and remained standing.

"Sit down, please. I'm nervous to see you standing looking to me."

"OK, I'm going to sit over there by the window," she replied to him.

Catherine sat by the window and kept her eyes watchful.

Steve continued to work while she was sitting there. She looked upset. "Maybe she's in trouble at home," he thought.

"I'm going to order coffee. Do you want to?" He asked her.

"It would be nice," she replied.

When an employee brought the coffee, Steve sat next to her and offered her a cup of coffee.

"Thank you," she said and smiled. "So, I have a question."

"Say," he replied.

"Why does a Navy Seal, head of a task force become Governor?" She asked.

"I was tired of crime scenes, deaths, and adding that to personal problems, I decided it was time to change. But I wanted to continue serving my country and helping people, and then the proposal came and I accepted it. I think which was a long shot, and now I'm not sure if it was a good choice. "

"But think on the bright side: you have a choice. Not everyone is privileged to have a choice," Catherine said and was talking about herself, although Steve didn't know that.

"It's true. Welcome, Catherine. I haven't gotten used to this bodyguard thing yet, but I liked Lincoln and I liked you too."

"Thank you, Mr. Governor."

"No, Mr. Governor no. Call me Steve when we are alone," Steve said and drank his coffee.

Catherine looked at him with a sad look. Something was bothering and saddening her. "Okay, Steve."
