NOTES: I was thinking about this story, so I decided to write it.

Maggie was shocked to learn that it was her father who caused the car accident involving the driver that had gotten Robbie hooked on drugs. And she also found out that a young another kid was dead and two others are in danger. She had gone to talk to one of them but she disappeared. She had found out the name of the dirty cop, Barry Craig, that he was in Mount Thomas, and involved with the case.

As soon as Maggie found out all of this, she contacted Mick. He arranged to meet Maggie at a safe location where he then took her to a safe house. Monica Draper showed up with one of the girls and the girl stayed with her while Monica and Mick went to their hotel room for the night.

The next morning Mick and Monica heard about a break-in over the radio. "That's the safe house!" Mick said and everyone rushed to their cars and headed to the house.

They found the safe house a mess. After going through everything they went back to the station.

Dash got off the phone, "I spoke to Courtney Birmingham's parents, she was never on the bus. So, I was lucky that I was able to contact the bus driver. He said that there wasn't a teenager matching Courtney's description on the bus."

"Then, where is she? Where is Barry?" PJ asked with a concerned look on his face.

"Detective, you're off this case. This is a drug squad case," Monica said.

"What about Maggie?" Pat asked.

"Don't worry Dad, we'll find her," Mick said.

"Come on Pat, let's get out of here," said PJ. They left the station and returned to Pat's hotel room.

"Why don't you have a shower and freshen up."

"What are you going to do?"

"The same thing, I'll be back and we can work it from there."

"OK." Pat got out of PJ's car and walked into his room while PJ went around to Maggie's place to see if she was there then on to his place.

An hour later he returned to the police station and saw that Tom was the only one there. "Where is everyone?"

"There was a phone call from Maggie, they went to meet her."

"Where?"

"My lips are sealed," then he flipped the clipboard over as he returned to his office.

PJ looked at the clipboard then he walked out of the police station. Arriving at his destination he saw the fire brigade hosing down a car. As he got out of his car he recognized the car that had been burning.

"No, No! Maggie!" Ben and Jack try to hold him back as he cried.

"No!" Dash got in front of him as he hugged her then Ben and Jack as well.

"NNNNOOOO, NOT MY WIFE, NOT MAGGIE!" PJ said, screaming causing everyone to stop what they were doing, stunned at what was happening.

When the fire brigade finished, PJ wanted to see for himself. When he did he got down on his knees crying. Mick crouched down next to him putting his arm around PJ's shoulders.

"Why, why Maggie?" PJ moaned.

"I don't know, Mate but we will find her killer, you can be sure of that."

Ten minutes later Tom showed up. Ben walked up to him, "Boss, it's PJ." Tom looked over and saw PJ, then turned to Ben.

"Did you know that they were married?"

Tom was shocked, "Married?"

"Yeah, he said 'no, not my wife, not Maggie'."

"I had no idea." Tom walked over to PJ and Mick.

"Mick..."

"Tom..." Mick got up and then PJ did as well.

"I'll tell Pat," PJ said, then he turned around and walked to his car.

"PJ, it might not be Maggie," Mick said, causing PJ to stop and turn back to him.

"What do you mean?"

"Courtney didn't get on the bus yesterday like Barry said she did. Maggie and Melissa are still missing. Until we have a positive ID of the body, we can't tell Dad."

PJ walked back over to him, "what are you saying, that Barry Craig is a dirty cop?"

"Yes, I've been investigating him, that is why I'm here in Mount Thomas."

"You should have told me at the beginning."

" I'm sorry but I couldn't and until we know who is in the car, we need to keep looking."

"How long will an ID take?" Tom asked.

"Three, four hours or so."

"I want to know one way or the other," then PJ turned around and walked back to his car and drove away.

PJ returned to the station and went to his office. He opened his drawer and pulled out their wedding photo. They were smiling for the camera.

"Where are you Maggie?" then the phone rings.

"Mount Thomas Police Station… yes, Christy… now, ok, I'll be there," he hung up, put the photo back in his drawer, got up and left the police station for the Imperial Hotel where Christy was waiting for him.

"Christy, what is it?"

"Room four," then she turned back to the bar.

PJ went up the stairs, he came to the room and knocked on the door. The door opens and he is shocked to see Maggie standing there. He cried as he walked in closing the door and they both hugged tightly.

"I thought you were dead!" he pulled back and kissed her then hugged her once more as he cried. Minutes later they pulled apart and he cupped her face.

"What do you mean PJ?"

"Your car was at the rest area just outside of town, it was burnt, there was a body found inside, I thought it was you." Maggie was stunned.

"Who's body is it?"

"Well it's not you, thank God. Then it must be Melissa or Courtney."

"Not Melissa, she's in the room next door."

"Then it must be Courtney. Now we know that Barry Craig is a dirty cop"

"What? Are you sure?"

"Who else can it be. What happened at the safe house?"

"A guy showed up. He pulled out a gun, so I grabbed Melissa and we managed to make it to the back of the house and jump a neighbour's fence. We hid as we heard the house being ripped apart. I saw the guy leave, he got into his car and left just as Barry Craig showed up. I saw him go into the house then out again, then he made a phone call. From what I could hear, he said that 'they were gone, someone got to them'. I don't know if he got them or not. Thanks for the tip but I was too late. Then he hung up. He got back into his car and left. Melissa and I managed to make it here and Christy let us use the two rooms. I asked her to call you."

PJ kissed Maggie which became passionate. When they broke for air they sat down on the bed.

"Maggie, tell me everything," as he held onto her hand. "Everything, 'cause from what you just said, something's not right."

"I was thinking the same thing because only two people knew where Melissa and I were."

"Moncia and Mick," PJ said.

"You don't think..."

"I don't know Maggie, so tell me everything."

"Ok," Maggie told PJ everything that had happened. When she finished telling him he looked confused.

"Will you be ok here for a while?" he asked her.

"Sure, where are you going?"

"I have to talk to someone," then he gives her a passionate kiss.

"I love you, Maggie."

"I love you too." PJ stood and walked to the door, he stopped and turned to her. "I'm going to find out what is going on."

"I know you will," she replied. He opened the door and walked out, closing it behind him.
