Chapter 1: Arrival

Adora was out with her five-year-old child Finn. They were exploring The Whispering Woods, sticking close to the side of Bright Moon. It had been ten years since the downfall of Horde Prime. In those years, she and Catra had managed to get married while Glimmer and Bow tied the knot as well. They had only been married five years when little Finn had come into their lives.

Finn was racing around the forest, climbing trees and hanging upside down on branches. A smile came over her face as she watched the joy spread out from her child. After the madness that was the war between the Horde and the Princesses and then the danger from Horde Prime. It was nice to finally be able to chill out and experience life. Her role in Bright Moon had pretty much stayed the same – a member of council for the Princess Alliance and a soldier for Bright Moon. Her role as She-Ra had changed though. Now that there weren't many threats to Etheria, She-Ra wasn't need as much anymore. However, that little card was still kept up her sleeve. Who knew when they may need it again?

As they moved through the forest, voices and the sound of footsteps could be heard. That's odd, Adora thought. There shouldn't be anyone around in these woods. People didn't often come into The Whispering Woods. They preferred to stick to the nearby city of Bright Moon or one of the villages that were close by. Finn darted forward. A curious expression on their face. It looked like he wanted to explore further and see what those noises were.

"Finn," Adora whispered sharply and pulled him back.

There was something familiar about the way those footsteps sounded a lot like marching to her. Mother and child hid behind a tree just in time. What passed by was clearly a legion of soldiers. They were dressed in black jump suits and the one at the front had a silver pin that looked like the one she used to wear back in the Horde. They were moving through the trees in the direction of Bright Moon.

"Mama," Finn started to say when the legion of whatever those people had passed them by. "Who were those people?"

"I don't know, love," Adora responded, "but I am determined to find out."

"What do you mean a new invading force?" Glimmer exclaimed.

Adora had raced back to Bright Moon as fast as her feet were able to carry her. Once she was back at the castle, she made sure that Finn was safe in the day-care part of the castle before calling an emergency meeting in the war room. Bow, Glimmer, Catra, Scorpia, Mermista, Sea Hawk, Frosta and Perfuma had all come to see what was going on. When Adora had told them of what she had seen in the woods, they had all stared at her in disbelief.

"That was what it looked like to me," Adora nodded her head. "They were definitely were troops marching."

"Towards Bright Moon you say?" Glimmer clenched her fists. She looked over at her husband who exchanged a worrying look with her. "Well we know what to do then. Prepare our defences," she added to her general who nodded.

"If they want a fight, they came to the right place," Mermista said with a smile on her face.

A week later, with their defences prepped, the Best Friend Squad had decided to figure out what they were facing. When night had dropped around them, they had headed back into the woods to see if they could find something and find something they did.

Moving through the trees they came to a clearing and in it were several tents set up. It was campsite and judging by the army symbols it was an army camp. There was a strange symbol on the flags – one that Adora had never seen before. Her eyes narrowed. Who were these people and what were they doing here?

Using Melog's cloaking abilities allowed them to get closer. Upon entering the camp, more of those flags were posted everywhere. A frown came over Adora's face. If they weren't sure it was an invading force, they were sure now. People were walking around the camp, saluting superior officers as they walked by.

"Long live The Seventh Children!" they would say, raising their hand in a saluting way.

So, these people were called The Seventh Children. Numerous questions formed in Adora's mind; where were they from? Why did they come here? Who is their leader? What do they want? It seemed like they wouldn't get the answers they wanted just walking around the camp cloaked.

As they head back to Bright Moon, Adora got a rather bad feeling about these people. She didn't know what it was, just that it was bad.

Two months later

Adora was once again in the war room with the other Princesses, Bow and Catra. Catra had her hand resting on her knee while Adora had placed her own on top of it. They were all concerned. Over the past two months, the bad feeling that Adora had gotten before had been proven correct. The Princesses had tried the diplomatic route but it didn't work. Adora had a funny feeling that these people couldn't be talked to no matter how hard they tried. That hadn't stopped Glimmer from trying though.

Over the past two months, war had also gripped Etheria in many places. Bright Moon had been the subject of a few of these battles but they had managed to put a stop to the invading force of The Seventh Children. However, with each passing battle, The Seventh Children were learning and they were learning fast. It was becoming harder and harder to fight them off. Several villages across Etheria had already fallen to them.

"New camps have been set up," Glimmer said pointing at Alwyn on the map that was laid out on the table. "We will need someone to scout them out and make sure we know what they are up to. It could be dangerous as we don't know what they are doing there and we have very little intel."

"I'll do it," Adora said.

"No," Catra spoke rather suddenly and when she realised what she had said, she blushed. "I just don't want you do unnecessary dangerous tasks."

"Relax Catra," Adora took her hand and held it against her heart. "This will be a piece of cake. I'll be back before you know it."

That was one of the last things Adora said to her wife.
