History Repeats Itself

3rd Person POV - Tikki

Tikki was growing worried for Marinette. She was under so much stress, and she wasn't dealing to well with it. Lila's lies were getting worse, and they tore a rift in her friendships, a rift that grew with each lie, each day. Marinette didn't know how to deal with it, and she was becoming depressed. Anyone could see that if they looked, but no one did.

Hawkmoth was getting stronger, too. His villains were getting increasingly hard to beat, and there had been countless injuries, that, although healed instantly with the ladybugs, were becoming problematic, and Marinette knew that before long one them could end up dead, or they wouldn't be able to defeat the villain and Hawkmoth would win.

Tikki was mostly worried though, because history, as it often does, was repeating itself. She had once had a Ladybug who was strong, and powerful, and in so many ways like Marinette. That Ladybug had destroyed herself. She became so overwhelmed with everything and it tore her apart, and she was akumatised. Following that, she committed suicide, so overridden with guilt and stress. She was one of Tikki's favourite Ladybug's, as is Marinette, and Tikki couldn't deal with another Ladybug destroying herself through the power she has received.

1st Person POV – Marinette.

I couldn't bring myself to get out of bed that morning. Yesterday, Lila had made up yet another lie, and it was destroying my relationships. She claimed that I had said some choice words about her to someone else (and couldn't name who that person was, because she couldn't see, conveniently), and so that resulted in me getting sent to the principal's office and 2 weeks of detention. Before Lila, I had a perfect record. Now that record was ruined.

Her plan of taking all my friends was working. People had very little trust left in me, and even Alya and I were being forced apart.

I knew that today Lila would create another lie. Soon, her lies are going to destroy everything.

I don't know how to deal with any of this. Its so hard. And piling all of Ladybug's responsibilities on top of that, I know I'm going to be crushed. I'm trying to find much that is positive about this situation, but its so hard to be optimistic, like I used to be. The only bright spot is that I have Adrien. He sees through Lila; he knows none of it is true. This situation is bringing us closer, and Lila can see it. I know that she will use it against me eventually, and I know that she could even take Adrien away if she were to try hard enough. And she will. She has a way, and she will do it.

3rd Person POV – Lila

As Lila made her way to school that morning, she was thinking of ways to ruin Marinette more. She was almost there, she knew it. She just needed to place the cherry on top and destroy everything completely.

She also needed to think of a way to take Adrien away. She knew that Adrien saw through her, but that would change soon. All she needed was the perfect plan and Adrien would be hers. Of course, she also had Hawkmoths help, so she had little to worry.

That's when an idea clicked in her head. Hawkmoth. Of course. And she knew what she had to do to destroy Marinette.

1st Person POV – Marinette

When I walk into the classroom, everyone is looking at me. Well, not quite looking. More like glaring.

"What have I done now?" I ask, taking a seat in the back. Lila had spun a lie so that she could sit with Alya, and so that left me stuck in the back. Alone.

"How could you work with him?!" Alya fumes. "I'm Ladybugs biggest fan, and you work against her, with her biggest enemy! How could you?"

"I-I don't know what you mean…? I'm not working with Hawkmoth. Why would you think that?" I know immediately what's happened. This was just what Lila needed to do. If she could make everyone believe that I was working against Ladybug, their biggest hero, then I was done for.

"Why would I think that? Maybe because of this video that Lila showed me, that clearly shows you talking with Hawkmoth, agreeing to some terrible plan. And about Lila, no less!" Alya says, thrusting her phone in my hand.

On the screen, I see me, talking with a man who has his back turned to the camera. You can easily tell, however, that 'I' am talking to 'Hawkmoth'. He has on his distinctive mask and the same suit that we have all seen a few times when he has shown himself, and he sounds exactly like the man himself.

The fake me is talking with him, agreeing on some horrible messed up plan. Then he mentions Lila, and I smile, evilly, and laugh.

'Don't worry. That little bitch won't know what hit her. I'll be done with her soon.' Then I walk off, and the video ends.

"How could you say do this, Marinette!?" Lila says, sobbing into Rose's shoulder.

"I didn't, I don't - I…I didn't do this…"

"I heard you with my own ears, Marinette! I saw you! We've all seen you!"

"Hang on a minute, Lila. Why would you even have a video of this? And where did you see this?" Adrien. My guardian angel.

"Be-because…Well, I couldn't confront her, and Hawkmoth was right there! I he had of seen me –" She starts to cry, seeming scared of what could've happened, which is bull-crap. "I saw them behind the school. You can see. I took a video of it so that I had proof. I've sent it to the authorities, by the way." She looks at me, and I can see the smirk in her eyes. She knows she's won. I know she's won. Adrien knows she's won. There's no way to get out of it.

Suddenly we hear police sirens, stopping in front of our school. Then, with principal Damocles, they come into our classroom and head straight for me.

"Marinette Dupain-Cheng, you are under arrest for conspiracy with a terrorist." One of them says.

"But, I-I didn't do anything! She's lying. She's always lying! Why does no one believe me!?" I'm hysterical now. She's going to get me arrested for nothing.

"The video clearly shows that it's you, correct?"

"Y-yes. But that's not me! They just look and sound like me! Please, you have to believe me! Alya…?"

"Marinette…The evidence is all there. After everything else that you've done – to Lila or otherwise – well…"

"Alya…" I whimper. "Adrien, you believe me, right? You haven't been buying her bull-crap for a while now…please…somebody…"

"Marinette, of course I believe you, but…She's won. We both know that."

"No…" Something in me crumbles then. Adrien. Even him. Gone. Tears flow freely down my face. The officers cuff me and take me from the classroom. I don't fight them. I go with them. Because there's no point. I've lost.

...

3rd Person POV – Hawkmoth.

Hawkmoth watches the scene with hungry eyes. Lila had done well. She's crushed this girl's spirit, taken everything from her. She'll be my best akuma yet.

"Fly, my lovely akuma, and evilise this destroyed girl."

...

3rd Person POV – Tikki

Tikki could feel Marinette's destroyed spirit. She was broken. History had repeated itself. There was nothing she could do to help Marinette.

Marinette wouldn't fight anymore. She had given up. She let the depression and brokenness and hopelessness take her over, let it crush her, until the Marinette that Tikki loved was gone. Ladybug was gone.
