Prologue: Jin Hyoudou
The City of Kuoh in Japan flickered with the midnight lights from street lamps, stores and billboards along the streets. In this warm summer night, a black sedan was currently driving through the streets of town, with three passengers. A father was driving the car, while his two sons were on their phones in their backseats.
The two sons were nearly identical. It was not surprising however, given the fact that they were twins. The only two features distinguishing them were the eyes and a scar from one of the boys. However, the most prominent difference between the two brothers was the brown-eyed brother's left hand. The two brothers were called Issei and Basara Hyoudou, and were near identical copies of their father, Jin Hyoudou.
Issei was the older one of the two, with longer spiky brown hair with two short locks behind his head and brown eyes. He looked more like his father than his green-eyed brother. He also had pale skin, except on his left hand.
Issei's left hand was quite different from the usual human hands. The fingertips of his were exceedingly sharp, like claws, and almost all of his forearm was covered in spiky red scales with two yellow spikes protruding near his elbow. In the middle of his backhand shone a bright green orb. Though at first glance it seemed like a gauntlet that was used for cosplays, Issei had control over it like a normal human hand.
Thanks to his unusual left hand, Issei had one of the sleeves of his white, black-stripped long-sleeved shirt rolled up. Under the white shirt, he wore a red T-shirt and finished his look with black jeans and white tennis shoes.
Usually, one would expect the older brother to be more mature, well-mannered, quiet and all in all, tame. Issei unfortunately, was none of those things. Those characteristics belonged to his brother.
Basara, the other twin, just like his brother and father, had spiky brown hair, though shorter than Issei's. He also had pale skin and a tall build. However, unlike his brother, his facial features were sharper, more defined and all around more appealing to the eye. Not to mention his unique blue/green eyes. Thanks to this trait, he was quite popular with the ladies. Even the scars on his right cheek and both forearms just added to his allure.
In terms of clothing, he wore similar clothes to his brother. Black shirt with rolled up sleeves over a white T-shirt underneath, black jeans and black tennis shoes.
The personalities of these two brothers were near polar opposites. Issei was quite loud, and outspoken, whereas Basara was more reserved, quiet, and well-mannered. Unless Basara was taken off guard of course, then he could be caught doing stupid things due to his embarrassment.
"Real or fake?" The brown eyed, unscarred son asked his twin as he turned his phone to his brother.
Basara sighed out loudly with a sad smile. The green-eyed boy lifted his head from the screen of his own phone and looked at the picture his brother was showing him with a serious look on his face.
"Hmm… seems fake to me." the green-eyed young man said as he looked at the picture being shown to him.
Issei smirked confidently. "Amateur. They are obviously real." but when Issei tapped on his phone to get the answer to this little quiz, he was shocked to see that they were indeed fake. "WHAT?! HOW?! HOW?! HOW COULD I GET IT WRONG WITH MY YEARS OF EXPERIENCE OF LOOKING AT THEM!?"
Issei shoved his phone as close to his eyes as he could, trying to find anything that would suggest these beauties were fake. Eyes were roaming back and forth for several seconds until… "Seriously! How did you get it?! I have seen dozens of fake boobs in magazines and videos, and they look nothing like them!" Issei turned to his younger brother.
Basara chuckled nervously and scratched the back of his head. "I don't really know. The right one just… doesn't seem right."
"That wasn't very helpful…" Issei sighed out in disappointment.
"Let me have a look, Issei." The mature voice of Jin from the driver's seat said as he held out his right hand. Issei smiled for a moment before giving his phone to his father. While still driving, Jin looked at the phone for a single second and then extended his hand back to the back of the car.
"Basara is right Issei. There is a faint white scar under the right boob. Seems like this woman had one bigger than the other and so she got a small implant in the right breast." Jin calmly said, like they were having a completely normal conversation.
"Really?!" Issei snatched the phone back quickly with his human hand. Immediately he again pushed his face into the phone looking for that small detail he missed and… his father was right! It was nearly non-existent, but the scar was there! "You're right! There it is!" Issei yelled out and pointed at the small white scar. Then, he frowned. "These kinds of trick questions shouldn't be there! One is fake and the other is natural?! What kind of quiz is that! Both answers should be valid!" Issei yelled out.
"Issei, it's a cheap BOOB QUIZ. What quality did you except?" Basara asked, causing Issei to grunt, having no real comeback. Issei loved his brother dearly, his left arm was the living proof of that, but the fact he was better at things, even when it came to boobs hurt his pride quite a bit. At least his father was not freaking out about his favorite hobby, which was… well… let's just call it scientific analyzation and information gathering regarding a women's body shape and sizes for further research. It was kinda weird with just how OK his father was with all of this, but hey, he wasn't complaining.
Speaking of his father, he was quite knowledgeable when it came to many different subjects. For example, this was not the first time his father helped him with this sort of quiz. He seemed like an expert on the female body, and yet, he nor Basara had ever seen a woman enter their house, or even near their father in the last… well, since their birth.
"So, boys. Are you excited for your new school and home?" Jin asked.
Immediately Issei's eyes turned into stars and a wide smile was plastered all over his face. "Are you kidding me dad?! A 95% girl school is the dream! I still have no idea how you pulled it off, but you are the best dad ever!" Issei screamed in excitement, hugging his dad from the back seat.
Jin chuckled at his son's enthusiasm. He checked the rear-view mirror and looked at his younger son. "How about you Basara? Are you excited?"
"Well, I am looking forward to meeting new people." Basara began, his voice turning sour the more he talked. "I just… I just wished that we wouldn't have had to move. I-I-I am sorry. I d-d-d" Basara closed his eyes and gritted his teeth in frustration, anger and sadness.
"It wasn't your fault little brother. We already went through this." Issei quickly interjected, putting his right hand on Basara's shoulder. Issei's brown eyes were looking at his brother, trying to comfort him. However, Basara had his green eyes on Issei's left red, and scaly hand with a sad face.
"Issei is right. If what happened was anyone's fault, it's mine. I should have been more careful. I should have been home. I should have known someone would come after us after what I did to them." Jin sadly sighed.
"Jeez you two. Can you guys stop blaming yourselves? I am getting tired of this. Besides, it's not all doom and gloom." Issei's grin turned lecherous. "I now have this cool hand to which chicks are gonna flock!" Issei declared with enthusiasm raising his scaled arm as Basara smiled next to him.
Jin again chuckled with a hint of sadness in his voice once he looked at Issei's arm. It warmed his heart that both nearly died for one another when times had gotten rough. It was only thanks to that, that both of them are still alive. He had no idea how he managed to raise them into such fine young men, without the maternal love every kid deserves.
"I will be gone the whole day tomorrow. So, I hope both of you will arrive at the school on time and that you two will start moving things into the house when you get back." Jin informed the two.
"I thought your new job doesn't start until next week, dad." Basara raised an eyebrow.
"You are right, it doesn't. But I have to have a little chat with someone." Jin said, his voice calm and peaceful. But the two sons knew all too well, that whatever their dad was planning tomorrow, it would not be peaceful.
A devil of immeasurable power walked towards his mansion, his long crimson red hair flowing behind him, with his crystal blue eyes filled with what could only be described as annoyance. He wore clothes resembling a cross between royal garbs and armor. Four spiked shoulder pads on each shoulder and a black chest pad with yellow engravings. Under it he wore white garbs and a black cape.
The annoyed individual had just returned from the Meeting of Five Great Al-Shaitans. Judging from his expression, it was safe to say that whatever he found out, it was not good news. He sighed. Maybe he should get used to this. There has not been any good news ever since Wilbert died.
Wilbert was one of the Six Great Al-Shaitans who looked over the Underworld along with Sirzechs and was one of the strongest and most respected devils in the Underworld. He was basically the ruler of the Underworld with the other Five Great Al-Shaitans being his counselors. During the time of Wilbert's rule, the Underworld was finally at peace, with him as one of the Six Great Al-Shaitans, even though the Underworld was not in the best conditions after a certain individual killed all the original Six Al-Shaitans along with several Pillar Houses. His havoc kept Sirzechs up at night, as even with all original Six Al-Shaitans combined, they were simply just a bump in the road on this man's path to vengeance.
Zolgear was hardly a sufficient replacement for Wilbert. With Wilbert dead and a lack of a wise respected leader in his place, some stupid High-Rank devil had the novel idea to attack this man's sons. *tch* Like it was not enough when they had taken one of his loved ones. Seems like someone forgot how it went last time when someone took this man's loved ones from him …
"How to quell this fire… How did you keep it under control, Wilbert?" Sirzechs thought as he entered the Gremory mansion, the two butlers at the gates greeted him in respect. Just the front of the Gremory mansion was a massive courtyard, with a wide brown brick path, with fountains, trees and flowers on each side. At the end of this path, a grey and gold 3 story high mansion stood, where Sirzechs' family resided.
Sirzechs was not one to normally be afraid of things, but he had to admit, he now feared for his family's wellbeing. Not only was the Underworld currently in such a state of unrest that an attack on his mansion was entirely plausible, but the fact they may get yet another visit from the Doom Bringer as they call him in the Underworld really unnerved him. And there were very few things that which scared Sirzechs Lucifer.
With his head held high, Sirzechs entered the mansion's front door which another set of Gremory Butlers opened. When someone says Gremory, the first word everyone recalls was the color red. And even though there was some red furniture around the halls, the carpets, walls and ceilings were usually purple, with some grey sprinkled in.
At the end of the entry halls, his wife, ever patiently waited for him to return from his duties as one of the Al-Shaitans. He always had to smile when she bowed a little and welcomed him home. For some strange reason, Grayfia Gremory (née Lucifuge), took a liking to the maid job in the Gremory compound, even though he told her multiple times, that servants were paid to ensure her comfort in the Gremory household. Grayfia told him that she would like to repay the family that had taken her in and seeing the maids and butlers of the Gremory household, she found her means of repaying the warm welcome she received in the Gremory household.
Even though Sirzechs was very delighted Grayfia was doing something that gave her fulfillment, sometimes Grayfia would forget that apart from being the Head Maid, she was also his wife. Grayfia would sometimes even get quite upset when Sirzechs tried to show affection to her in public, resulting in his pinched cheeks. Apparently, she thought that it was exhilarating to hide their relationship, just like they did during the Devil Civil War. The fact everyone knew about them now was apparently irrelevant…
The Gremory House was incredibly lucky, as they came out nearly unscathed from both the Devil Civil War and Doom Bringer's rampage. In fact, The House of Gremory gained more from those events than they lost. The faction Sirzechs was part of had not only won the civil war, but it was where Sirzechs had met Grayfia, where they fell in love, and conceived Millicas Gremory, an heir to the Gremory Clan. The initial problem was, they were on the opposing sides of the war. So, they met in secret, some kisses were exchanged in the forests, some nude baths happened in the lakes and eventually, they first made love to each other in one of the hideouts. Eventually they even married in secret, all the while playing enemies on the battlefield.
Things settled down after the civil war with the victory of the Anti-Satan Inheritance faction, and Sirzechs Gremory became Sirzechs Lucifer, one of the new Six Great Al-Shaitans in the Underworld. Despite the fact the war was over, the question on whether the empty seats at the Al-Shaitans Table should be earned or inherited just ended, nobody really cared about that, since everyone was discussing and gossiping about the secret marriage that had took place, and the fact Grayfia was already pregnant with Sirzechs kid. Not long after the news of her pregnancy reached the public, Sirezchs's and Grayfia's story became so popular in the Underworld that they made a romance movie about their love story called "The Ballad of the Silver Ice Maiden and Crimson Prince of Destruction". It became a mega-hit, and devils in the Underworld now often use the term "Sirzechs and Grayfia" to describe young couples madly in love.
"Welcome home, Lucifer-sama." Grayfia said with her everyday small bow, taking Sirzechs away from his trip down memory lane.
Sirzechs stopped in front of her. One of the prettiest, if not the prettiest Pure-Blooded Devil wore a maid outfit and referred to him as her master. He still was not completely used to it.
Grayfia was a pale, well-endowed young woman appearing to be in her early twenties, with silver hair in a long braid with a small blue bow in the back. Apart from the long braid in the back, she also has twin braids that framed each side of her face, with another two blue ties at the ends. Her eyes were the identical silver color like her hair, and her lipstick was the same shade of her husband's hair.
"Dear. We are alone, you don't have to be formal now." Sirzechs gently said, his voice being calm and relaxing, something to which one would find easy to fall asleep to. Seeing his beautiful wife, Sirzechs nearly forgot about his today's problems.
Grayfia looked around, seeing that they were indeed alone. When the coast was undeniably clear, Grayfia dropped her neutral tone and expression and smiled at Sirzechs. "How was the meeting, dear?" Grayfia changed her tone to a gentle loving tone.
Sirzechs' pleased expression fell when she asked. "Not good at all." Sirzechs sighed. "Let us not talk about that please. Tell me, love, how is Mio, Maria and Millicas?" Sirzechs asked, trying to leave the work behind at least for a minute.
Grayfia smiled at him. "Millicas is playing with Mio and Maria in his room." But just the same as her husband, her smile fell. "Dear, both are good girls, but I have to ask, when will we move them somewhere else? It is getting dangerous." Grayfia asked.
Sirzechs sighed at the tough question. He knew why Grayfia was worried, and truth be told, he was too. The fact that the Gremory clan, in the span of only a few years had gone from one of the less significant of the 72 Pillars, to being one with arguably the most power didn't sit well with other families.
Their rise began with Sirzechs' mother. Venelana Gremory, daughter of Lord Bael and one of his mistresses. Naturally, she was cast aside as she was a bastard child of the Bael clan. They did not throw her to the streets, but she had no say in the matters of the Bael clan and nobody cared about her, except her mother. As Lord Zeoticus Gremory had troubles finding a spouse for his weakening clan, Venelana entered the picture and they understood each other immediately, being the punching bags of the Underworld. Marriage quickly followed their meeting.
The Bael clan realized far too late that Venelana Gremory had a far better connection to their Power of Destruction than any other heir of their clan. Zeoticus had the ability to control shadows, which had been passed down in the Gremory clan for quite a while. A relatively weak power, where you would need a sharp mind to even elevate it to be on par with other families, which Zeoticus at least had. Unlike Hell's Shadow which every Gremory ever inherited, the Bael's Power of Destruction was inherited by very few Baels. And it just so happened to be, that since Venelana and Zeoticus, their children and grandchild all inherited the Power of Destruction which had also merged with Hell's Shadow. Venelena's and Zeoticus' children Rias and Sirzechs both had a great affinity towards the Power of Destruction, even better than Venelana herself. Not to mention Millicas, who was already showing much better control over this power than not only Venelana, but even Rias. Plus, if Millicas starts to show signs of Grayfia's Infernal Freeze, he was undoubtedly gonna become one of the most powerful devils in history.
In two generations, the Gremory clan jumped from a nearly forgotten Pillar, to being in the top 5 most powerful Houses in the Underworld. That in of itself was going to anger a lot of devils. But then there was another thing.
Not only had someone angered Doom Bringer, but someone tried to kidnap Mio Naruse when her father Wilbert Mephistopheles died. Naturally, the devils of the Underworld were angered that the one man that held things together died, and then some other devil attacks his daughter on Earth. Poor Mio was now thrusted into a world she did not even know existed. Wilbert tried to leave his child out of politics of the Underworld and so he gave Mio to two devils in his household who unsuccessfully tried for a child for years, telling them to take her to Earth and live a normal life outside of the mess that was the Underworld.
Now that Wilbert was dead, and the only heir to the Naruse household being Mio, everyone tried to replicate what the Gremory's did with the Power of Destruction and make Naruse's Gravital Force their own. Mio awakened the Gravital Force when devils had killed her adoptive parents. She along with Maria then repelled the attacker and his devil-winged subordinates. And when devils inspected the aftermath of Mio's power, seeing the power Gravital Force had even in the inexperienced hands, everyone naturally wanted it for themselves. Since Wilbert and Mio's adoptive parents died in the same week, Mio truly became an orphan. An orphan, everyone fought over. Sirzechs saw a terrified Mio as devils of all ages fought over the young teenage girl just to get hands on one of the strongest abilities in the Underworld. Everyone wanted to mimic what naturally happened with the Gremory's.
At the Al-Shaitan's table, with his friends Ajuka and Serafall, they managed to decide to give Mio some breathing room and transfer her to Sirzechs' care for a month.
However, since Mio was in the Gremory mansion, a lot of the Underworld was thinking that Sirzechs' was still trying to elevate the Gremory clan by taking Mio in, and eventually marry her to Millicas, creating an even more immensely powerful Gremory clan.
That however was the last thing on his mind. He just wanted to spare Mio the fate that met, or rather will meet Rias. Maybe it is because they looked a lot alike and seeing as another red-haired teenage girl was married over to someone who doesn't love them in the slightest stirred the need to protect this girl. Nevertheless, he needed to find her a new safe home, far away from the Gremory clan and fast. Otherwise who knows when someone will start gathering forces in hopes to destroy the rising Gremory clan.
"I don't know when we will move them. I am still thinking on where Mio and Maria would be safe, dear." Sirzechs replied with a sad smile.
"I am worried. Millicas said to me that others are looking at him with distaste in school and that he doesn't like it there anymore." Grayfia said, her voice giving away the helplessness she was feeling. And Sirzechs understood that feeling all too well, as he too felt uneasy playing with fire like this.
"We can let him stay home until I figure something out." Sirzechs suggested.
"I do not think that is a good idea. What would the others think when Millicas would stay here alone with Mio and Maria?" Grayfia said.
"Ahhhh, you're right." Sirzechs said. Man, this was frustrating. "I'll try to think of something tonight. I can't let Wilbert's daughter continue to be treated like this. I owe too much to him." Sirzechs lowered his head and sighed.
"I know…" Grayfia said, as silence filled the room.
"Anyway, I'll go to the throne room and I'll try to think of something. Be so kind and prepare us something to eat dear, please." Sirzechs said.
"Of course, Lucifer-sama." Grayfia said, entering her maid persona. But as she turned around, Sirzechs spun her back and kissed her. A surprised Grayfia separated from the kiss seconds after, with a light blush on her cheeks.
"You should have expected that. We are alone after all." Sirzechs closed his eyes and smiled at her.
Grayfia straightened herself before clearing her throat. "Thank you, Lucifer-sama. I'll take my leave now." and this time, Sirzechs let his wife go and cook a nice dinner for their family.
Being a little cheered up by his wife's presence, Sirzechs continued on through the mansion towards the Lucifer throne that was built when he became one of the Al-Shaitans.
Sirzechs thought this was going to be a calm evening with him on the throne thinking about everything that was happening in the Underworld and how to solve it. But when his butlers opened the doors into the throne room, Sirzechs immediately knew something was not right. As butlers closed the doors without looking inside, immediately upon entering the chamber, Sirzechs saw someone sitting on his throne.
He at first thought he was seeing things, but as he began to look around, he noticed that maids and butlers alike were scattered all around the room, having been knocked unconscious. Sirzechs was shocked. How could someone sneak in and do this without the butlers outside even noticing?!
Upon taking a better look at the man sitting in his throne, everything became clear. In the purple stylized room, with the grey stone throne in the middle surrounded by grey pillars, sat the Doom Bringer himself, smoking a cigarette and looking like nothing was happening, with one leg over the other with a bored expression on his face. Even his clothes were plain, with a white shirt unbuttoned at the collar, dark grey pants and blue slippers.
"Ahhh, finally. Sirzechs Lucifer. Or would you prefer Lord Lucifer?" the man stood up from Sirzechs' throne walking up to the Great Satan.
Sirzechs shivered at his presence. "Jin Toujou... How did you get in here?" Sirzechs gritted his teeth. This was bad. Very, very, very bad. Before Sirzechs' eyes flashed all the clans that had perished the last time this man visited the Underworld.
"Thanks to you, it's Hyoudou now. As for me getting in here, one of your maids wanted to let some fresh air into your throne room." Jin explained, pointing towards an open window, his voice not giving any hints of anger. Though it did not give any hints of calmness either.
Jin calmly walked down the steps from the throne, taking another drag from the cigarette, filling Sirzechs with even more unease.
"What do I have to do with your change of a name?" Sirzechs asked, rooted in one place.
"Well, maybe not exactly thanks to you, but it was a devil who attacked my home when I was away. And you lead this place now, or am I wrong?" Jin said, his tone getting more serious.
"One of the six who lead this place." Sirzechs corrected.
"Ahhh. Yes. But as with Wilbert, the one with the biggest brain leads the other five. Which is you now." Jin took another drag of the cigarette while continuing to approach Sirzechs.
Sirzechs gritted his teeth more. This was not heading in a good direction. "We are trying to track down the attacker. I assure you, Jin Hyoudou, not a single one of us is trying to anger you." Sirzechs said.
Jin frowned as he stopped in front of Sirzechs. "One of you clearly is. Someone. Went. After. My. SONS." Jin's voice turned dark, raw anger now clearly hearable.
"I know. I am aware and I am terribly sorry for what happened. Trust me, I want nothing more than to get everything under control here." Sirzechs said, trying to dismantle the situation. Jin chuckled, taking the cigarette out of his mouth.
"You are sorry… that's nice I suppose. Though I wonder, what would you do if someone crippled your own son?" Jin ask with an evil smile.
Sirzechs' eyes widened and without a second thought he extended his hands creating a small magical ball of black with a crimson outline, ready to shoot it at Jin. However, Jin took the magical ball of demonic energy, which under normal circumstances, would annihilate anything it touched, and simply crushed it in his own hand, releasing a white smoke from the clenched fist, all the while holding the cigarette in his other hand.
It all happened in the span of a few milliseconds. It quickly dawned on Sirzechs that his impulsive behavior was foolish, but he could not help it. When someone threatens your own son, you do not think, you kill.
"You would do this, without a second thought. Understandable right?" Jin looked at his smoking hand. "Now, why shouldn't I finish what I started here 18 years ago, to eliminate this threat to my sons?" Jin said, looking at Sirzechs with a pissed off expression. "Last time I gave the Underworld the benefit of the doubt, you took her from me. And now, you want to take what she left me too. I hope you understand I am very displeased with that, Lord Lucifer."
Sirzechs could only grit his teeth, falling to his knees. Lucifer, on his knees in front of a man, being helpless to stop anything of what was to come. "I beg you. Leave my family alone… Please. The Gremory's want to live in peace, that's all. Please…" Sirzechs begged on his knees.
Jin took another drag of the cigarette, exhaling smoke afterwards, as Lucifer pleaded at his feet. "I am not here to take innocent lives, nor to rampage." Sirzechs widened his eyes and looked up at Jin.
"You can thank my anger management therapist for that." Jin took a last drag of the cigarette and threw it on the floor beside him, near one of the unconscious butlers lying around. "Though I would not advise trying something like this again. There is only so much I am willing to tolerate."
"And get up dammit. It's weird seeing a guy on his knees right before me." Jin said.
Stunned, Sirzechs slowly stood up as he was still contemplating how Jin played with him. "So… why are you here then?"
"Just let the Underworld know. If it happens again, I will show no mercy." Jin said. "Also. I noticed your family owns the Kuoh Academy, and I want to let you know, my boys are going to attend that academy. Along with some acquaintances of mine. So, I am counting on the fact you are going to ensure my sons are safe, as I will have a lot of work elsewhere."
Sirzechs eyes widened again. Jin To- Hyoudou, transferred his sons to Kuoh? And asked EXPLICITLY DEVILS to keep an eye on those boys?! What sort of sick joke was he playing? Jin hates the Underworld, the Heaven and everything that was not Earth!
"Why?" Sirzechs asked.
"Well, I heard your clan and the Sitri clan have control over the area. In other words, devils who were not stupid enough to get in my way 18 years ago. I want my sons to be protected under strong and smart clans. And if you fail to protect my sons from your own, well, I will visit this place a third time. And it will be far worse than the first time I was here." Jin smiled.
Now it had become clear what Jin wanted. In short, if they will fail to keep an eye on those two, Jin can without regret blame the Underworld and do what he does best. He was basically taunting the Underworld with this move. 'Here are my sons. Dare to hurt them again, and I'll kill you all' is what Sirzechs read between the lines.
"It can be beneficial to both of us. Maybe we can even lure the attacker out." Jin said.
Lure the man out... It is true they would have a bigger chance to capture the devil this way, rather than Jin living with his sons away from supernatural as they did previously. And as absurd as this would seem normal, with this threat, the twins are actually safer under devil surveillance than with no surveillance at all. Quite smart.
If only he was as strong as Jin. He could quite easily do this thing with Mio... Wait a second! This is perfect!
"I accept all of your conditions as I don't have much of a choice anyway. But… is there a chance you would help me with something? I promise, it is beneficial to both of us." Sirzechs humbly asked.
Jin raised an eyebrow. "And what would that be?"
"Even though Kuoh is under our domain, wouldn't it be better if someone lived near your sons at all times? You said so yourself. You'll have a lot of work elsewhere and won't be at home." Sirzechs asked.
Jin chuckled. "How perceptive of you. Yes, it would be better I suppose, but what's in it for you? And how would that work?" Jin asked.
Sirzechs knew that he had to tell the whole truth to Jin, as who knew what he would do if he found out Sirzechs had lied to him. "Not long before the attack on you sons, Mio Naruse was attacked in her home and her foster parents killed." Sirzechs began.
"Wilbert's daughter?" Jin asked.
"Yes. As you know, after Wilbert died, she became the sole heir to the Naruse clan and their Gravital Force power. I took her in, in hopes to spare her from sleazy old devils, but it backfired somewhat. A lot of devils now think I, with the Gremory clan want to usurp the power in the Underworld, and to marry her to my son. But all I wanted was to save an orphaned girl from more heartbreak, so I am looking for a safe place for her to stay in. And nothing is safer than being under the protection of Jin Hyoudou." Sirzechs said.
Jin again chuckled. "Is it? Recently I am not so sure."
"Apart from one high rank devil who did a foolish thing, no one with half a brain would try to do this and anger you. It is still the safest place I can think of for Mio. That way, I can quell the unrests between the clans who are fighting over Mio and focus thoroughly on finding the devil who attacked your sons. Maybe even find the one who attacked Mio." Sirzechs explained.
"So, you're asking me to take Wilbert's daughter under my protection, so that it can help put out the unrests in the Underworld, which will allow you to focus on my request?" Jin summed it up.
"Yeah. Mio and Maria. Mio is inexperienced with magic and her power, but Maria excels and tutors her. And even inexperienced, Mio is very powerfull with the Gravital Force. So, if push comes to shove, they can protect your sons if it comes to the worst and someone attacks again." Sirzechs said.
"And in reverse case, my sons can protect Wilbert's daughter. Or should I say, daughters?" Jin smirked.
"Nothing goes by you, does it?" Sirzechs sighed. "Yeah. As I said, it's beneficial for both of us." Sirzechs said.
"Hmmm… My sons always wanted an Imouto. Well, the younger one at least. The older one wanted a busty Onee-san." Jin chuckled recalling Issei's perverted nature.
Sirzechs raised an eyebrow, confused at Jin's reaction. "Ehm… both are covered. Mio is quite busty, and Maria is a short young-looking girl, almost childlike."
Jin scratched the back of his head. "Well, why not then. As you said, it benefits us both. Though I would advise to withold any attacks on either of them, as I would be displeased the same way I am with the last attack on my family." Jin smiled at him sweetly, though Sirzechs knew this wasn't a friendly one.
Sirzechs sighed. Even when risking things like this, he did not have much of a choice. Hopefully, everything will work out. "When would you like to meet them?" Sirzechs asked.
"Tomorrow at lunchtime would be fine." Jin said.
"Alright then. I'll send them to Tonkatsu restaurant next to the Kuoh park at 12:00." Sirzechs said.
"Good." Jin dusted off his hands and looked around and smiled. "Well, seems like my work here is done. I will see you later, Lord Lucifer, I have a lot of work to do. And don't forget to convey the message to the others." Jin said, and in the blink of an eye, he was out of the window he entered, leaving Sirzechs alone in his throne room with a bunch of unconscious butlers and maids.
In another place six figures sat around a round table with a floating ball in the middle with tons of papers in front of each of them. When looking up, one would think this place was Earth, with clear blue skies and sun above them. However, once you looked down, you would realize this was not Earth's soil. The floor of this place could only be described as white fluffy clouds, with no vegetation in place. Looking around, there were very few buildings to be seen, but when you found one, they were mansions in colors of white and gold. The torches which lit this place had a white/yellow flame and the whole place smelled like a new book.
Heaven, as people began calling it. Or at least, one of the Six Heavens in this place. Though, this exact place is more like a crossroad to the six different Heavens. These figures sat on round fluffy clouds around the table which was also cloudy. A see-through crystal ball was floating above the table.
One was a young, teenage, voluptuous looking woman, dressed in a white yukata with golden flower patterns embroidered in the white yukata. She also wore a golden thin headband and purple flower in her hair. Her hair was long and golden, her eyes a clear violet and her skin was as pale as snow. A halo gleamed above her head. She was known as Gabriel Ananiel, the Most Beautiful Woman in all of the Heavens and Blesser of Heavens.
The second person also had a young appearance, with long blonde hair and pale skin. But on the other hand, this one was not a beautiful female. It was a handsome young man with green sad eyes. This man wore a red robe with a golden cross on the front of his white Alb, along with golden shoulder plates with a white sash and golden halo above his head. He was known as Michael Zaphkiel, the Leader of Heaven and Builder of Heavens.
The third person was another pale male, with white hair and golden sharp eyes. This one was a little older looking, seemingly being in his late twenties. The front of his muscular chest was not covered, as only the sides were covered by a golden armor that continued to cover his arms. From the waist down he was covered in this golden armor that had hawk-like kneecaps. Like the other two, he had a halo above his head. He was known as Henry Raduriel, Maker of Saints.
The fourth one did not look human, though he had the characteristics of a male. The body of this person consisted of a light blue glow, glowing in his body. Several parts of his body such as chest, legs, shoulders and forearms were covered by a light grey/yellow armor. His head seemed like a mask, with two sharp holes in it, glowing in the same fashion as his body. A halo floated above his head. He was known as Ornis Penemue, Overseer of Afterlife Fields
The fifth person was a pale, mature, and busty looking woman in her late twenties, with shining long golden hair, wearing a revealing white dress. The white dress was hung up on thin golden straps, making a yellow web pattern around her chest as the white dress floated all the way to her feet. The sides of her hips had a hole, and she wore elbow-length white gloves. She was known as Afureia Ariel, the Administrator of Heavens.
And the last person, a male, wore another set of white robes with yellow patterns. He was covered from head to toe in a priest robe, with a yellow cross on his chest, and another yellow cross around his neck in a steel form. One could say he looked like a priest, with the hood pulled off. This man was also noticeably young looking, in his late teens, had dirty blonde hair, and hazel eyes. And he was known as Reginleif Metatron, the Strongest Seraph and Warrior of God.
On the crystal ball these six Seraphs kept watch over the world. The crystal ball projected nearly everything that happened between Heaven and Earth. Prayers of their followers, blessings by their Archangels, and aspiring Saints in hopes to become servants of Heaven.
The six Seraphs would meet here each day for 12 hours to watch and answer the calls of the people on Earth. The remaining half a day, the strongest angels in Heaven take care of their respective parts of Heaven. They work all day and night, still trying to do their work even when the Doom Bringer left Heaven in an irreparable state. Suddenly, Gabriel lifted her head as two young ladies appeared through a mist on the crystal ball above them, both covered in white cloaks with only their heads uncovered. One with short blue hair with a green bang, and an orange-haired girl with twintails.
"Who are those ladies?" Gabriel asked, her voice so relaxing it would put a grown man to sleep with just a word.
"Xenovia Quarta and Shidou Irina." Henry answered, his voice being gentle, yet strong in presence.
Afureia raised her thin golden eyebrow. "You remember two random followers?" her voice more mature, like that of a loving mother.
"I've had my eyes on these two for a while. They are under Griselda and show a great prospect of becoming Saints." Henry answered.
"And how do these young souls fare, Henry-sama." Michael answered, his voice gentle like all the other Seraphs, though along with gentleness, his voice seemed tired.
"Good. All they need is more conviction and I will offer them Sainthood." Henry answered.
Afureia began running through her papers, looking for one of the new forms to fill in, as Ornis kept occasionally looking in Afureia's direction, whispering "Pretty" in an artificial sound.
Suddenly, Reginleif stood up from his cloud and looked behind him. "Someone is coming. And it is not an angel." he said, his voice being stern and almost hostile like.
"Who could that be?" Gabriel put her finger on her chin as she looked up, thinking, looking as cute as ever.
As soon as Gabriel finished saying that, an enormous gust of wind flew into their direction, with all the surprised Seraphs having to shield their eyes for a moment and the piles of papers flew off their cloud table. And as soon as the gust of wind stopped, a casually clothed Jin Hyoudou stood before them.
"Yo. Pleasure to see you, dear Seraphs." Jin smiled at the leaders of Heaven.
Reginleif tried to punch Jin as soon as he saw him, but Jin casually dodged the attack and spun Reginleif back to his cloud. "Reginleif. I see you are as lively as ever." Jin looked at the sitting Seraph, who was gritting his teeth in frustration. Reginleif's hand began glowing in a yellow light, preparing for another attack.
"Reginleif! Stop!" Michael yelled out; his tired voice gone and replaced with urgent command.
Frustrated Reginleif clenched his glowing fist, gritting his teeth more. In the end, he listened to Michael and dispersed the glow, and hid his hands back into his robes.
"Let's all calm down…" Michael said, trying to calm down Reginleif, and even Ornis and Henry who were ready to attack and help Reginleif.
"I am perfectly calm. It's all of the other angels who attack me here that have anger issues." Jin shrugged his shoulders, causing Reginleif's blood to boil even more. Henry and Ornis too were ready to jump Jin, as it seemed he again forced his way through angels to get to them. Now seemingly completely without reason.
"Don't worry guys. I did not kill anybody this time. I just want to ask a request." Jin said, pulling a pack of cigarettes out of his pocket, popping one out and putting it inside his mouth. As Jin pulled out a lighter, he eyed the two women in his vicinity, which were wide eyed, but non-aggressive it would seem. "Afureia, Gabriel. Pleasure to see the second most beautiful women in Heaven once again." Jin said, lighting his cigarette. Gabriel blushed at his compliment, and Afureia had a disbelieving smirk on her face. This calmed down Henry and Reginleif a little, but angered Ornis who released a displeased grunt.
"Jin Toujou. What request do you have for us?" Michael asked, his gentle voice returning.
"After a recent incident, the name's Hyoudou." Jin took a drag of his cigarette and answered. "I need someone to keep an eye on my sons in devil territory. And I figured, why not ask the two best friends of their mother?" Jin looked at Afureia and Gabriel, who both became incredibly surprised.
"That doesn't make sense." Henry added as Reginleif released an unpleasant grunt.
"I have to agree with my friend here. I doubt you would need our help to guard your sons. And I doubt anyone would be so reckless or foolish as to attack them." Michael said.
Jin took a drag of his cigarette and answered. "Some devils actually are that stupid. I already warned them, but I don't think they will be able to protect my sons from danger, when I will be elsewhere." Jin explained. "And I would rather avoid doing a complete genocide of all the devils in the Underworld, just so my sons are safe. I killed a lot of them already, and so far, it was only the ones who got in my way. But if that unknown devil attacks again… I may not be that nice." Jin added.
"Why should we care about you and the Underworld? You are a GODDAMN SINNER! YOU LAI-" Ornis began rumbling about Jin.
"ORNIS! BE QUIET!" Michael yelled at Ornis. Ornis grunted in disapproval when Michael looked at him with scary eyes.
Smoke escaped Jin's lips when he chuckled. "I never pretended to be without sin. And neither should you, nor your God."
This got a reaction from the Seraphs as Ornis, Henry and Reginleif stood up with fury in their eyes. The two women looked at the fluffy floor, a look of shamed adorned their faces. Michael's eyes also fell at Jin's Statement.
Jin chuckled again. "Still not over that thing, huh?" Jin taunted Reginleif, Ornis and Henry. Reginleif's fist glowed yellow again ready to attack. "Don't bother Reginleif. I am in no mood." Jin looked at Reginleif with a dark expression. Reginleif again clenched his fists in frustration and helplessness that he right now felt and dropped his charging attack...
"All I am here for, is to ask Afureia and Gabriel to keep an eye on my sons. That is all. One guardian angel per boy." Jin explained.
"I understand your concerns, Jin Hyoudou, but Afureia and Gabriel have a lot of work in Heaven as one of the Six Holy Seraphs" Michael explained.
"I am sure you can find a replacement." Jin responded. "Besides, I asked them, not you." Jin turned to the girls at the cloudy table.
"You two would become teachers at Kuoh academy and keep an eye on them there. I already talked it over with the Gremory's and they expect you at the school. So, what will it be?" Jin asked.
Everyone that was present knew, Jin was not exactly asking. And everyone knew, the only correct answer is to go and keep an eye on those two boys, even though there were still hostilities between the angels and devils.
Gabriel and Afureia looked at each other with sad expressions. The guilt over their best freind never left them. Instead of taking care of her boys, they hid here, behind work. They have not even met Raphaeline's boys, and yet they called themselves her best friends…
"We accept." Both women said in unison, with clear regret in their voice. Everyone did not have much of a reaction, except Ornis, who looked very displeased with their decision.
"Good. You start tomorrow." Jin smiled at them. "Well, that's all from me. See ya later." he waved, and in the same gust of wind that was present when he arrived, he was gone, leaving the Seraph's hair flickering in the wind he created and the papers on the cloudy floor flying all over the place again.
Michael breathed a giant sigh of relief. They survived the ordeal, so that was nice. And Michael quickly realized one thing. "Why would Jin Hyoudou leave his home, leaving his sons out in the open? What is he planning?" Michael voiced his thoughts. If Jin plans something, it is usually not good for either devils or angels.
"Does it matter? We had to lick his boots again, and I am starting to get sick of this! Have you forgotten what he did?!" Reginleif asked angrily.
"To be fair, he had every right to do so. Only, we were too naïve and had thought a simple human couldn't touch us." Afureia said.
Everyone fell silent. It was still a sore topic here in Heaven, as everyone thought that no mere human could escape the judgment of God, or even be powerful enough to pose a threat to Heaven. But then, he appeared.
Michael looked out towards the blue skies, thinking about what happened 18 years ago, and what doomed the most powerful beings in Heaven and Underworld. "One man caused the Heaven and the Underworld to shake, when he made Satan and God join forces in fear of his rage, and yet it was all in vain when God and Satan both fell under his hand, to avenge the fair angel and innocent devil he fared."
Author's note: So first off, we have Issei and his hand that might surprise you. Well, I will reveal what exactly happened later. So Issei's hand is already sacrificed to Ddraig.
Another thing, the timeline of events. I dumped on you a lot of info so here is the timeline.
Angel/Devil/Fallen Angel War - Hero faction with Jin join the war later on - Jin wreaks havoc in Underworld and Heaven and kills God and Satan - Peace between the three factions - Devil Civil War - Attack on Mio - Attack on Basara and Issei.
Also, Gremory's ability. Every clan has a signature ability, so I had to come up with some for the Gremorys as well. Zeoticus has to have something, right?
Five Great Al-Shaitans = Five Great Satans. Just changed the name.
And about Rias not being the heir to the Gremory clan. Nothing personal, but the law of inheritance is like this. The oldest child is the heir and their children follow the same rules. Plain and simple. Even when Sirzechs became Lucifer, he was still the eldest and Millicas was born when Sirzechs was still a Gremory. So Millicas is the official heir to Gremory clan. This should also make Millicas more interesting. I also tried to come up with an explanation why Grayfia is the way she is, so I hope I get that right.
I had to create one OC for Heavens, because as much as I tried to find someone, in both universes, Heaven is basically forgotten. So, I had to improvise a lot here, with the characters, clothes and as such. And yes, Afureia wears an Albedo's outfit from Overlord in her angel form. I thought it could be a nice angel outfit, so I made it happen. And I am too lazy to come up with more new stuff. On Earth, she and Gabriel will have a different look.
And lastly, I think I should clarify what clan has which special ability so there is no confusion.
Gremory: Hell's Shadow (right now merging with Power of Destruction) – ability to control and solidify shadows.
Lucifuge: Infernal Freeze – ability to control and create dark blue ice that does not freeze, but burns.
Bael: Power of Destruction (here it is slowly dying out) – creates an energy that can annihilate everything it touches.
Naruse: Gravital Force – control over red demonic energy that can manipulate gravitational force fields, making things lighter or heavier.
That should be all for this chapter. Thanks for the read, and see ya in the next chapter!
