Hello! So this is my first Renegades Fanfic. I felt I should do one because it is such a great series. Also, because it needs a few more fanfics. But warning, SPOILERS! Don't read this if you haven't finished the trilogy! That's all I have to say. So, I hope you don't hate it, and happy reading! Also- All rights belong to Marissa Meyer, she will forever by my hero. I only own the plot.

Six years have passed since that fateful afternoon at the Renegades parade. And it's been almost five years since Ace Anarchy was defeated for eternity. Nova Artino, yes Artino, is walking hand in shaky hand with her boyfriend of a little more than four years: Adrian Everhart. The sun was setting in brilliant shades of rose pink and gold behind them, casting their shadows of elongated sillouettes before then as they walked up a manicured lawn.

At the age of 22, Nova has experienced so much more than anyone ever could imagine. Her parents were tragically killed before her eyes, when she was six years old. The uncle that took her in and raised her, turned out to be the villain. She has come to know her sister that she previously thought was dead. And after two Battles for Gatlon, she had survived enough quarrels to last her a lifetime. But today, she wouldn't be facing criminals, jail breakers, or thugs; she would be facing her boyfriend's family.

Adrian's dads, the invincible Hugh Everhart and Simon Westwood, took to Nova before the Second Battle was even a worry. They thought of her as part of the family, because they knew that inevitably, she would become one. They saw how Adrien looked at her, like she was the only woman on Earth. Nova had proven her loyalty to the city and to Adrian, as well as courage to Hugh and Simon on more than one occasion. But even they were uneasy about this upcoming meeting.

Hugh led the small group through the main doors of a very highly skilled decorated mansion, and into a lavish parlor.

Sitting inside the room, in a plush, velvet arm chair, sat a plump man with a receding hair line. Upon his face, was a scowl that seemed to be fueled by all the world's evils, and it was pinned straight on Nova. "Good afternoon, Uncle Eric." Hugh said warmly, clearly trying to diffuse the negativity in the room with a few words. Nova almost snorted at the laughability of the situation, but her nerves had worked from her stomach, to her fingertips, and up to her throat.

The scowl only deepened as the four took their seats around the small room. Nova and Adrian sat on a love seat, opposite Hugh and Simon. The scowl did not weaken or stagger as small talk ensued. Only when it came to Nova's introduction.

"Well, Uncle, I think it's time we introduce Nova, don't you?" Hugh says, trying to change the subject for the better, but Uncle Eric doesn't restrain his glare. "I know who she is," He says sharply, moving his chin in Nova's direction. "Well... Ad-" Hugh was cut off, as Eric turned his full glare at Nova. "You're an Anarchist, neice of Ace Anarchy no less. You say you changed your ways, but I don't believe you. Once a villain, always a villain."

"Uncle.." Hugh says warningly, Simon's hand on his arm, restraining him. "You think you deserve the title of 'Renegade?'" Adrian breaks in, furious, "Nova has-" But Uncle Eric continues on, undisturbed. "You don't. You're a villain, a piece of filth. And you will never deserve to be with Adrian or any other-." Nova, having grown paler by every word spoken, stands up on shaky legs. Adrian's hand tries to take hers, but she just shakes her head. "Uncle! You have no right! How da-" Hugh, on his feet, livid with anger cuts off his Uncle before he could finish his sentence. Hugh is again cut off, as Nova turns and bolts.

Nova can hear Adrian yelling her name, as she runs through the grand house. But she doesn't turn back, not as she runs past the floor to ceiling windows or the entry way. She makes her way to the street, the houses blurred by tears. Tears stemming from the nightmares that have haunted her. The questions and statements she asked and told herself for years. 'She's still a villain.' 'She will never be a Renegade.' 'She doesn't deserve to be with Adrian.'

Not paying attention, Nova looks around, without even seeing the houses or the street. All the houses and lawns blur together with the dark sky. In her state, she didn't notice a shadow break away from the gate. She didn't notice the dark form of a person coming to stand behind her. The only thing Nova saw, was the flash of silver off a metal dagger, right before pain exploded in her right side. Gasping, she moves a palm to her side, feeling the dagger wedged into her flesh. Nova staggers, as her fingers come away with blood smeared on her fingers. As she turns to hit her attacker, she's pushed to the ground. A crack sounds, as a burst of pain makes its way up her arm.

"The unstoppable and famous, Nova Artino." Drawls a low, dark voice, "Turned into a crying mess of blood on the pavement, with only a dagger." The shadow kneels down until they're inches apart. "You're father would be disappointed." The shadow whispers, right as they twist the dagger and pull it out, causing Nova to cry out. The shadow straightens up, the full moon casting a ghoulish glow upon them.

The silver of the dagger reflects the moonlight, making the dark smear of red blood on its blade, evermore visible. Looking up, Nova sees a scar on the shadow's cheek, barely visible underneath the hood. Right before a black boot comes down, and everything goes black.
