Max's Pov:

I hadn't put much thought into the question from my parents about whether or not I wanted to move back to Arcadia Bay for my senior year where I would to attend Blackwell Academy. I had been working tremendously hard at my current school to make the grades and preparations required to even apply. When I sent my application to Blackwell my mind started buzzing with thoughts of my small home town. I thought of the times I had spent in Arcadia Bay as a child. But I mostly thought of Chloe Price. She had been my best friend when we were kids. 'Thick as thieves' our parents would say. When I had to move away I was devastated and she was as well when I told her. I didn't have a choice in the matter I was just a kid. I had thought of reaching out but I thought she hated me for leaving. I wondered if Chloe was attending Blackwell, she had straight A's before I left. She probably moved on, has new friends, and has probably changed.

A few weeks after I had sent my application i received a letter from Blackwell Academy saying I was accepted. I was to move into my dorm a week before classes started for the school year. As soon as I read the words 'Maxine Caulfield, we are pleased to inform you...' the gears in my head started going into overdrive. Thinking about how I was going to talk to Chloe. What I would say to her, I've been gone for five years no doubt we both have changed.

After a couple hours of stressing about my eminent talk with Chloe I decided to go to bed.

August 13 exactly one week from the first day of school.

I was picking up the rest of my stuff into boxes with the help of my mom and dad. They had been extra affectionate the past couple of days saying things like 'I can't help it! My baby is leaving the nest' or 'you'll always be my baby' they still treat me like I'm a kid when it comes to things like this even though I'll be 18 in a month. I had finished taping the last box closed when dad asked me to come outside.

"Dad what's going on?" As I walked through the house. Mom was waiting out front for us.

"You'll see.." my dad said with a giddy tone. When I walked outside dad started filming me and mom handed me a set of car keys as she pointed to a brand new red Jeep Wrangler in the driveway. It had a huge red ribbon on it. I couldn't believe it.

"Mom! Dad! Oh my gosh! Thanks so much! I can't believe you got me a car!" I was hugging them so tight dad had to pry me off of them.

"We thought you'd need a car to get around Arcadia Bay and...come back to visit us on breaks of course." Mom said as she walked towards my new car. "Come on you need to get on the road. Let's load these boxes."

I helped load my stuff into my new car. Hugged my parents and hit the road.

After a few hours I had finally made it into Arcadia Bay. I pulled into the Blackwell Parking lot and headed to the administration office to pick up my dorm key and class schedule. Then I started bringing my boxes into my dorm from the car. While I was unpacking and setting my new home away from home up I heard a knock at the door. I opened the door to see a beautiful blonde with a red flannel shirt and a blue earring.

"Hey I'm Rachel, Rachel Amber your new aren't you? I was just going around checking out everyone's set up this year and noticed a new name on the board. So hi." She said in a super confident and relaxed tone with a grin.

"Hi, yah I'm new this year just got accepted last May. I just got here a few hours ago." I told her.

"Well awesome! I've been going here since sophomore year and I love it!" She stated with excitement.

"Yah me too. You seem really cool. Oh...I'm Max by the way. Max Caulfield." As soon as I said my name Rachel's eyes lit up in excitement.

"Oh. My. Gosh. Your The Max Caulfield? You moved away from here 5 years ago right?"

"Yah how'd you know?" I asked while leaning into the doorframe.

"Oh well I think I'd better show you how I know." She said as she started to walk away. "Come on!"

"Okay I'm coming." I grabbed my bag and locked my door then followed Rachel out of the dorms into the courtyard.

"Come on She's over here." Rachel said while turning to look at Max.

"Who is.." Then I saw her. She was sitting against a tree reading a book. I couldn't believe it I tried to speak but no words came out. "Chloe?" I finally choked out.

Chloe looked up from the book she was reading and her eyes shot wide open. "Max!"
