A/N: My take on wha would happen if Cristina came to Grey- Sloan to perform a surgery. Cristina did not go to Derek's funeral, Owen and Teddy are together. Link and Amelia are together. Andrew and Meredith are on the rocks. I don't own Grey's Anatomy or its characters.

"Grey, you're going to do a heart- liver transplant." Bailey said as she approached the group consisting of Meredith, Maggie, and Amelia, leaning on the nurses' station on the main floor.

"Give it to Jo, she is ready for it." Meredith suggested.

"Well, that's not happening." Bailey denied immediately.

"Well, what's so special about it?" Meredith asked her curiously. There was something off with Bailey's tone and Meredith knew it, as if she was hiding something.

"See, it's an HIV positive to HIV positive transplant. And, there is a surgeon flying in to do the procedure with you." Bailey elaborated.

"Why can't Teddy or I do the procedure?" Maggie butted in.

"Because you can't. Alright?" Bailey dismissed her.

"But, who in the country is better than us?" Maggie persisted.

"I am." A voice said from beneath the stairs.

Immediately Meredith turned her head towards the voice and came face to face with her best friend. Amelia watched amused. Owen and Teddy exited the door from stairway and stopped dead in their tracks. Bailey was getting teary- eyed seeing the scene unfold.

"The donor is from Switzerland, and well, I am the best cardio surgeon." Cristina said to Maggie in her usual manner. She saw Meredith walk towards her and stopped her. "We said goodbye while dancing it out, that's the way we are gonna say hello. I know it's been seven years but bear with me."

She reached for her phone and played 'Where Does the Good Go.' Both Cristina and Meredith started dancing it out to the tunes of the song, while the entire floor watched, some with nostalgia and some with wonder.

While they were dancing...

Link joined Amelia and Maggie and whispered in Amelia's ear. "Who is this?"

"Cristina Yang. Meredith's person. They are meeting after seven years." Amelia replied, happy for her sister.

"That's… That's… quite a reunion." Link commented.

"Yes, that is. They were the 'dark and twisted sisters' as Derek called them." She added.

"Did you know?" Teddy asked Owen.

"No, not a clue." Owen replied, shocked to see his ex-wife after that long a time.

The group of residents consisting of Schmitt, Parker, Helm and led by DeLuca, entered the scene throng the elevator and were confused by what they saw. Meredith Grey dancing with a stranger in front of everyone… that didn't happen.

"Who is this?" Parker asked.

"Why are they dancing?" Schmitt added.

"I am so jealous of her. Wait... maybe Grey is interested in women. I might have a chance." Helm commented.

Andrew was plain confused with what was happening. He had never seen Meredith like this.

"That's Dr. Cristina Yang. One of the world's leading Cardio surgeons. No, Meredith Grey is not gay, that's her person. No one, has a chance to come between them." Jo interrupted their speculation.

Quietly, Tom walked near Bailey and asked her, "Who is this? And why is the Chief of General Surgery dancing in the middle of this hospital?"

"Be quiet." Bailey shushed him, enjoying what she saw.

Back to Cristina and Meredith...

Soon, as the song was about to end, Meredith fell on her knees and was about to breakdown. She never had a chance to do so and seven years of emotions, heartbreak and feelings were pent up in her heart, which flooded her seeing Cristina. Cristina went running to her and engulfed her in a hug, something very unusual for them to do.

Maggie was about to move and was stopped by Amelia. She was plain confused with what she saw. A surgeon being deemed better than her, and that someone new consoling Meredith. She had heard about Cristina Yang, and had a brief encounter, when she first started, but what she was seeing was new.

"I know… I know… Let's get out of here." Cristina told her best friend as they hugged.

"But… But surgery?" Meredith asked her between tears.

"It's tomorrow. Today, it's just me and you. We are gonna dance, eat ice- cream and talk. There is so much I need to tell and so much more that you need to tell me." Cristina said with a smile.

Meredith returned the smile and started to get up. They held hands and started speed walking towards the elevators.

"One of you, who claim to be family. The kids are your duty. And Bailey, tell one of the good ones to keep checking on the patient." Cristina shouted over her shoulder.

"Don't worry. We got them." Bailey assured them.

They walked towards to elevators and entered it, completely ignoring everyone else.

Teddy wanted to approach Cristina, but Owen stopped her.

"Let's give them the day. We can meet her tomorrow."

"You're right." She agreed.

Andrew was standing just next to the elevators but was left ignored by the two friends.

Jo was happily surprised, seeing the best friends re- unite after all these years. Bailey a proud smile on her face, with her eyes tearing up, seeing her two best interns together.

Link was amused and Amelia, was glad for Meredith, remembering the days Cristina would spend with Meredith when Derek wasn't in town.

From the balcony above, Hayes looked down at the whole spectacle, with a knowing smile on his face, he too was happy to see his friend from Switzerland.

Maggie approached Bailey, "Dr. Bailey, I'm sure Dr. Yang, is very good at what she does, but, I'm perfectly well enough to handle this transplant."

"Dr. Pierce, I have never doubted your capabilities in the OR, but this is Dr. Cristina Yang, she and Grey and doing the surgery. The donor is her patient, and my decision is final."

"But…"

"Pierce, you weren't there when Yang worked at this hospital. She has been and will always remain a member of the Grey- Sloan family. Am I understood?"

"Yes, ma'am." She replied grudgingly.

"Good. Show's over everyone. Get back to work." Bailey ordered, returning to chief- mode.

In the attending lounge, Jackson was sitting on the couch reading an article about bone re- structuring, unaware of what happened downstairs. The group of attendings, led by Maggie, entered the room.

"Who is she? Meredith said nothing to defend me in front of Bailey!" Maggie exclaimed.

"What's happening?" Jackson said looking at the bewildered faces of his friends.

"Well, apparently, any surgeon can come into this hospital and demand to be a part of a groundbreaking surgery and they will be given preference above us doctors." Maggie all but shouted.

Jackson just looked more confused.

"Cristina Yang is here. She and Meredith do a HIV positive liver- heart transplant tomorrow." Amelia informed Jackson.

"Yang is here? Where?" Jackson asked.

"Oh, they left. First dancing on the main floor and then leaving, as if no one else existed."

"They re- united after seven years. What did you expect?" Jackson said non- chalantly.

"What?!" Maggie couldn't believe Jackson would support them.

"Maggie, you didn't see how much those two mean to each other. Their friendship is at a different level. They are the twisted sisters." Owen said, finally being able to speak.

"They were… they came before anyone else for each other." Jackson tried to explain.

"Even husbands." Owen added with a nostalgic smile.

"What do you mean?" Maggie asked.

"Meredith and Derek were married; Cristina and I were married. One thing the two of us learnt pretty soon was to give those two their space. They were going to have secrets, conversations that we weren't privy to, just ad to accept it."

"So, you just do as Cristina says?" Maggie questioned.

"I would not have such a negative opinion about Cristina, especially in front of Meredith." Amelia suggested.

"She is my sister." Maggie rubbished Amelia.

"Every day else, sure. In front of Cristina, not at all." Jackson said.

"Meredith used to say… 'Derek is my true love, but Cristina Yang is my soulmate.'" Amelia tried to explain.

"Where was her soulmate when Derek died?" Maggie asked, trying to prove them wrong.

"She had a seventeen-hour surgery, and another one scheduled for the day after. Firstly, she had no idea what happened. When she called it was already the day of the funeral. Meredith told her to not come and then disappeared to San Diego. Alex, until he himself went there, was honestly betting that Meredith was in Switzerland with Yang." Jo explained.

"But still... I mean…" Maggie still didn't seem to understand, so Owen started telling their stories.

"Derek told me about this… after an incident at the hospital, Cristina suffered PTSD, so one day, middle of the night, Cristina goes to Meredith's and Derek's room at their house and says that she can't be alone. Derek is sleeping, so Meredith, shifts towards him, making space for Cristina to join her on the bed. Honestly, the way Derek said it the next morning, it was hilarious. He's like, 'I put my arm around my wife's waist and come across another body!'"

Everyone who knew Derek laughs at the anecdote.

"When Meredith Grey drowned, it was Yang that kept telling us to continue CPR. When Meredith had an appendectomy, Yang cancelled her entire day. For her, it was huge. Just so, she could sit with Meredith before and after the operation. She spent the entire night with her." Bailey added.

"The incident Owen spoke earlier about, it caused Yang to freeze in the OR and hide under the table. Meredith barged in, not caring what we ordered her to do. She just lied on the ground, holding Cristina's hand." Teddy said, joining the conversation.

"She froze in OR… if she is as good as you say she is why did she freeze in an OR? How difficult was the surgery?" Jackson, Owen, Teddy and Bailey, looked at Maggie in shock and anger. Amelia, knowing what happened, just thought what a grave mistake her sister made.

"There was a shooting at the hospital." Bailey started, trying to calm her nerves.

"Derek was shot in the chest. Cristina operated on him. She saved Derek's life." Teddy added.

"While the gunman had a pistol pointed at her, ordering her to stop and a best friend that was ready to give her live in exchange." Jackson continued, trying to control his tone while he spoke.

"You have no idea what happened, so please, don't speak. We take those personally in here." Owen said.

"Meredith Grey and Cristina Yang, have together gone through a bomb in body cavity, a mass shooting, a plane crash, a friend being hit by a bus, another battling cancer, a drowning, PTSD, and so much more than you can comprehend. A lot happened in this place before you came, so no, you don't get to judge either of them. Because in spite of all that happened, they are still going stronger than ever." Bailey said in her no-nonsense voice.

"Maggie, no one here is going to support you, against Cristina." Amelia said trying to get her to understand.

"Cristina can always come back here to perform surgeries. She was one of the board members when the hospital restructured. As long as any one of us is here, there remains a place for Yang." Jackson stated.

"Hypothetically, tomorrow she comes and says she wants to come back, you just allow her?" Maggie asked.

"Yes. Absolutely." Jackson replied without a thought.

"I get no say it? It's my department." Maggie countered.

"You want the truth Pierce? We would rather fire you. The board and I can do that." Bailey replied.

"I trained her. I will hire Cristina back in my sleep, because if I ever need heart surgery, I will hop on a plane and go to her. She is family, has been since much before you and will continue to be even if you leave." Teddy reinforced.

Soon everyone's pagers rang, indicating incoming trauma. Maggie stood still in her place, while others started clearing the room. As Jackson was about to cross Maggie, he paused. "This is a battle you won't win. Don't bother fighting. Yang is too important to many important people in this hospital, especially to Meredith." He told her calmly, concluding the events.
