Got this idea while watching some Ducktales AMVs and inspired by similar fanfics I have read, I couldn't pass the opportunity. For those who read my first Ducktales thank you and if you read any of my other stories don't I am working on them. With that out if the way let's get on with the show.
The times these occur will be both before and after the beginning of the show. Being before and after the triplets and Donald move into the mansion. All take place before Della comes back.
And of course I-
Louie: Yeah Yeah you don't own the show. I think the readers already know that 7L13D. That's weird to say so I think I'll just call you 7. (Opens a can of pop)
LOUIE! What are you doing here?!
Louie: What, do you think those friends of yours in the other stories would only break the fourth wall? You do remember the TV show episode, the name I don't care to remember, right?
Ok you have a point but, why are you here? You're not known for going somewhere for a friendly visit. (Grabs a soda myself)
Louie: Alright you got me. I have come to help you.
(Almost choking on drink) What?! You? Help me? Excuse me while I laugh and question if you really are Louie.
Louie: Yeah I know I'm not The helpful type that often. But I know when I see a business opportunity.
What?
Louie: Just continue the story. We have a lot to talk about.
5 Times The Triplets called Uncle Donald dad by accident. And the 1 time they didn't.
Incident 1. Sleep Walking. (Before the show)
Uncle Donald has always been proud of his nephews. Sure all three of them can be annoying and hard to handle, but he loved each one more than words could say. He has been raising them since they were hatch for goodness sake. He could still remember when the three were but little babies. Needed constant attention, food, discipline, having to clean up messes-
Wait, was he thinking of when they were babies or them now? Either way, when they were babies one of the first words they all learned was dada. They would only say it when he was in the room. None of the babysitters ever heard them say that. It melted his heart hearing them say that because he liked to think he was a good dad and loved the boys as if he was their father. In the you're sister/their mother is lost in space and you had to raise them by yourself kind of way. He knew that he would have to tell them he was actually their Uncle some day. When they were around two and a half years to three years old he told them that he was his uncle and that they would have to start calling him that.
It didn take that long for them to get used to it. He always referred to himself as Uncle but they were too young to understand the difference before then. After a month or two they got used to calling him Uncle instead of dada or daddy. A part of him still missed that despite the boys being ten now.
So you can imagine his surprise ro what is about to happen tonight.
Donald was sitting outside the boat enjoying the night sky. If he had to guess it was probably midnight. Suddenly he heard footsteps coming from behind him. He turned around to see Louie walking around the boat's interior, his arms loose and it sounded like he was sleep walking.
Donald quickly picked up his nephew to keep him from breaking anything and gently woke him up.
"...wh-dad what's wrong?" Louie asked, still very tired. Donald was too concerned for his nephew so neither noticed what Louie had said.
"You were sleepwalking Louie. Come on, I'll get you some warm milk and then it is back to bed." Uncle Donald said. He quickly made a glass of milk for Louie and the young duck went back to bed no problem. He was too tired to argue or care.
"Well that could have been worse." Donald said thinking that something like this would usually turn into a weird adventure through the city when he was with Uncle Scrooge. Wait…..
Did he call him dad?! He must have been hearing things. None of them have called him that in years. And the fact that Louie of three was the first one to do it, realizing it or not, was shocking.
"Well I probably won't hear that again." He said to himself. He figured he wouldn't tell Louie about it. He would just deny it anyways.
Meanwhile Louie just laid back down in his bed seeming to be asleep...only to suddenly open his eyes at a sudden realization.
'Did-did I just call Uncle Donald dad?' He thought getting embarrassed. He turned to his side pillow over his head to hide his face.
Incident 2: Packing For Camp. (Before the show.)
Huey was packing for a Jr. Woodchuck camping trip and Uncle Donald, being the over protective da-I mean Uncle he is, is making sure Huey has all of his things.
"Do you have all your clothes?"
"Yes Uncle Donald."
"Extra clothes?"
"Yes."
"Bug spray, sun lotion, swim clothes, first aid kit, and emergency snacks?" Donald kept asking.
"Yes, yes, yes, yes, and what's the answer I'm looking for? Oh right, Yes!" Huey yelled, getting more annoyed by the second. He loved his uncle but he could be a handful.
"What about-"
"Ugg. Yes dad I have all of the-" Huey responded but stopped when he realized what he said. His face got red as the two just stared at each other. "ImeanyesIhaveeverythingandIgottogoloveya!" He said quickly running out of the room and to get to the camping trip.
Donald didn even react. It was one thing for a sleeping Louie to call him dad. It was another for Huey to say it while getting ready for camp in the early afternoon.
"That was unexpected." Was all he could say. Although he will admit to himself that being called dad again sounded nice. Even if it was by accident.
Incident 3: Other Plans. (Before the start of the show)
Dewey was excited for today. Uncle Donald said he would take him out to the arcade just the two of them. Huey was on a camping trip and Louie wanted to stay home and do basically nothing. He seemed to be embarrassed around Uncle Donald recently for some reason. Speaking of his Uncle.
"Well Uncle Donald, are you ready to dewey it!¨ He asked, making one of his puns. When he actually looked at him though Dewey noticed Uncle Donald was in his uniform for interviews.
"What are you doing?" Dewey asked.
"I have a job interview for today. Remember?"
"What? But you promised we could go to the arcade today."
"Was that today?"
"Yes." Dewey said knowing his Uncle would have to go.
"I'm sorry Dewey. I forgot. We should be able to go tomorrow though." Donald said, trying to cheer him up.
"But tomorrow is when Huey comes back. Come on dad can't we go at some point today?" After Dewey said that both went silent realizing what the boy just said.
"I-I mean…..uhhhhh. Sorry I don't know why I said that Uncle Donald." Dewey said, trying to end the awkward silence.
Donald sighed looking at the middle triplet. "No no it's fine. The interview can wait. I didn't really like the job anyways." Which really wasn't a lie, the job didn't really seem that good to him but it paid very well. "Let's go to the arcade." He smiled. Dewey smiled making the awkwardness go away as the two went to the car.
"You know you and the boys used to call me dad when you were little...well more than you are now that is." Donald teased.
"Hey I'm ten years old thank you very much." Dewey responded playfully sticking his tongue out.
"I can see the maturity difference between then and now." Donald replied.
"So don't tell my brothers about this?" He asked
"Well...don't tell them I said this but both of your brothers have made the same mistake." Donald said, deciding that it wouldn't hurt to tell Dewey.
"Tell me everything." Dewey said, thinking they would be funny. The ride to the arcade was filled with the ten year old's laughter.
Incident 4: The Burnt Boat House (Right after the first episode)
After the firefighters left and the crowds left Donald looked at what was left of the boat house. Thankfully some of their belongings were savegable and most of the bottom half of the boat was still usable as well since the boat wasn't sinking yet.
"We are so sorry about the boat Uncle Donald." Huey said.
"Yeah that is on us...but remember who actually started the boat." Louie said pointing at Dewey.
"Really Louie? Now. Right now?" Dewey asked, surprised his brother was trying to play the blame game.
Normally Donald would be mad and would be throwing one of his famous tantrums right now. Whether it was because it was the boat, the events that happened that day, or the fact that he and Uncle Scrooge seem to be making amends now, he didn't know why, but he was surprisingly calm.
"No no. It is as much my fault as yours. I forgot to turn the engine off too."
The boys were shocked. Was this their Uncle? He wasn't mad, yelling, or any of the usual stuff.
"Ummmm...Dad are you okay?" All three boys said at the same time without meaning to. When they realized what happened the triplets looked at each other. Dewey was trying not to laugh while Louie and Huey were trying to process what happened.
"You do that too?!" The oldest and youngest triplet said, pointing at each other.
"I'm fine boys. Just looking to see what can be saved." Donald answered their question smiling at them. "And I'm just glad you are safe." He said, pulling them into a hug. The boys looked a little embarrassed but accepted the hug.
Incident 5: Birthday Surprise (After the beginning of the show.) Donald's Birthday is June 9th
The triplets and Webby were all running around the mansion for today was a very important day. It was Uncle Donald's birthday.
The four kids wanted to make it very special as it was the first birthday since they all moved into the mansion. Mrs. Beakley is making the cake, Dewey and Webby were doing decorations and Louie and Huey were setting up the table and presents.
"Come guys. We only have a few minutes until Uncle Scrooge brings Uncle Donald back." Huey said. He was the self claimed planner of the group. Just as he said that Mrs. Beakley came out of the kitchen with a giant cake that looked like it was barely balanced on the cart she brought it out on.
"Wow. That has got to be the best cake I have ever seen!" Dewey said looking in from the dining room.
"When Granny wants to cook. She cooks." Webby said coming down from the ceiling hanging up a Happy Birthday Donald banner.
Just then Donald came storming in the living room looking mad. Scrooge came in behind him looking the same.
"I can't believe you almost got us deserted on an island because of one of your stupid bets with Glomgold." Donald grumbled. "Do you even know what today is?" He asked.
"Hey I won the bet. And of course I do. Why do you think I dragged you out in the first place!" Scrooge yelled before he realized what he was saying. "Oops." Scrooge sighed knowing he gave the surprise away. So close.
"You actually remembered?" Donald asked.
"Well yes and no. I knew it was close but the boys were the ones that reminded me it was today." Scrooge admitted.
"Eh. I'll take it. Now come here you old buzzer." Donald said, giving him a hug.
"Who are you calling old?" Scrooge said in mock anger, having trouble hiding his smile. "Happy birthday son."
"Thanks Uncle Scrooge. Well let's see what the kids got planned." Donald said. He ran to the dining room finally registering the smell of his favorite cake.
What he forgot was that the party was supposed to be a surprise. As soon as the rest heard Donald and Scrooge walking up to the dining room they closed the door and turned off the lights. Donald quickly ran through the door, almost throwing it off the hinges. He bumped into something and everyone heard a crash. Webby (who was sitting under the light switch) turned on the lights, and everyone gasped.
Donald had ran into the cake and about half of it was on him the very top of his head looking like it was melting. The triplets walked up to check on their uncle who had a look of annoyance and guilt.
"You okay dad?" Huey asked.
"Yeah you take a cake walk to a whole new level dad." Dewey said not missing the opportunity for a pun.
Louie had taken a taste of the cake on top of his head. "I see why you like the cake so much dad." He chuckled. Donald laughed to himself, barely able to hide his grin at his boys.
"What's so funny?" The boys asked all at once.
"You all just called me dad again." Ge said bluntly. The boys all froze and turned around to the other participants in the room. Bleakly looked annoyed about the mess but you could see a small smile on her.
Scrooge was shocked but then calmed and smiled as well finding the moment heartwarming. He loved this family
Webby had her phone out recording them boys and Donakd looking like she was about to explode from cuteness.
"Well we have some explaining to do." Huey said.
"You can wait until after the birthday party for your uncle. Or should I say Father? Bleakly teased. Needles to say the party was good even with the ruined cake. Which Donald kept apologising to Beakley for.
Incident 6: Fathers Day
After the birthday party the boys explained why they thought they kept calling Donald dad at random. Which mostly boiled down to because he has cared for them since they hatched and they see him as their dad.
And now that Father's day was around the corner they wanted to do something for their uncle/dad. Ever since the party they kept switching between uncle and dad. Mostly in their thoughts. They had the perfect plan too. All they had to do was get Uncle Scrooge's help.
A few days later/ now Father's day.
Donald woke up in his almost fixed boat. He actually had some pretty good sleep and was ready for the day. He couldn't help but feel like he was forgetting something however. He thought of anything that may cause this. From groceries to supplies for the boat he couldn't put his finger on it….until he did when looking at the calendar on a desk. The date was June 21.
"Oh no! It's Father's day!" He yelled. While normally this day wasn't such a big deal for him but Donald had different plans for this year. Since his Uncle Scrooge let him and the boys stay at the mansion he wanted to do something nice for him. Afterall, just like the boys look up to Donald as a Father figure he looked up to Scrooge as one as well. Despite past events and any anger the two may still have for each other.
He scrambled to get his sailor suit on and hurried inside the mansion to find Scrooge. Donald wasn't exactly sure what to give for his Uncle. So he thought of a couple ideas. Mostly spending time with him in some way since he spends so much time on the boat. He would even dare to try to play a board game with him but that would be a last resort. He got to Scrooge's office and was surprised to see it was empty.
He wandered around for a minute and realized that no one seemed to be home. Not even Beakley. So they were either on another adventure or the boys were planning something. That could be good or bad with this family. He was about to try calling them to see where they were when he stepped into the living room. (He had gone straight upstairs not thinking of looking there beforehand.
"Happy Father's Day!" He heard multiple voices yell. He was so taken back that he almost jumped to the ceiling and almost got a heart attack. He calmed down and looked to see everyone was in the living room apparently waiting for him. It seemed like another surprise party but the main decoration was just a banner and a smaller cake sat on the table.
"We really need to stop doing jump scares to him." Louie whispered to the others. They all nodded in agreement.
"What's this all about?" Donald asked.
"Well...we wanted to give you something nice for Father's Day this year." Huey started.
"With everything we talked about back during the party, we thought it would be nice to actually celebrate Father's Day with you." Dewey said. The two looked at Louie who seemed to not want to say anything but was reluctant.
"And because we love you and think you're the best dad in the world." Louie said. "And while I do mean that. I just want to point out Uncle Scrooge made me say it." He said.
"Hey. You weren't supposed to tell him lad." Scrooge complained.
"Why did you make Louie say that?" Donald asked.
"Ah. Well you see laddy it was a part of a deal that I made with the boys. They came to me to ask if I could help them get you a gift for today. Knowing Louie here as the most trouble showing his emotions when it doesn't include money, I made a deal that I would get the gift if he said that. Without looking like it was forced. He did better than expected." Scrooge grinned.
"Awwww. Boys you know you didn't have to do anything for me today." Donald said forgetting what he was originally going to do before walking into the room.
"Well yeah but we wanted to." Huey said. Picking up a warped gift from the table that Donald hadn't even seen until now. He carefully unwrapped it, the boys and Webby having exciting looks on their faces.
He pulled out the gift and was surprised. It was a picture frame. It was mostly made of wood, mahogany if he had to guess, with a gold outline. But what really surprised him was the picture inside of it. Which is the photo of him, Scrooge, and Della and the boys as eggs in front of them. He didn't know what to say. He was beyond speechless and almost didn't notice the tears coming from his eyes.
"Look at the back." Beakly said with a small smile. He turned it around to see a small message on the back.
'To the greatest Uncle/Dad in the world. Thank you for everything you have done for this family.' Signed Huey, Dewey, Louie, and Webby.
Donald looked back at the boys and all three ran to him giving him the hug first this time.
"Happy Father's Day dad!" They said.
Happy late Father's Day. I tried to have this posted on Sunday but I literally thought of this story while at work on Saturday, got home from work and wrote until I had to go to bed. Tried to finish it before going to work on Sunday but failed again. So here it is.
While writing this it did make me wonder. Why do the boys never ask about their father? My little theory is that because Donald has raised them their whole lives the boys have always seen Donald as their dad. Even if they didn't realize it.
Have a good day and let me know what you think of this story. And if you haven't please check out my other stories. Until next time.
Louie: Don't forget about me.
Oh right. So what did you want to talk about?
Louie: I want to make your writing famous. Just think of all the money you could make.
Hey sorry dude but you know this is just a hobby for me right? I love to write and all but I am no were near professional. Plus I'm not that good at making original characters. There is a reason I do fanfiction.
Louie: Yeah I noticed that. But don't worry we can improve your poor skills with some lessons and- (He didn't get to finish as I picked him up and threw him out of the room.)
No matter what kind of writer they are, never say stuff like that in their face it will just make them mad.
Huey: Hey 7. Have you seen Louie anywhere? (Jump from freight.) I really need to do something about you guys just appearing out of nowhere. And he's outside.
Huey:Thanks. (Runs off)
Lincoln Loud: You really do need to do something about that.
(Jump again and scream.) This isn't even your universe! How are you here?! I'm the Loud Hearts Lincoln. How else? Also you're the author dude.
This will never end will it.
Lincoln: Afraid not.
Dewey: Dewey noted. What did you think of that pun?"
I'm trying to decide if you are better or worse than Luan. Now can the story actually end? (Looks at all the characters. Louie and Huey came back inside) This is 7L13D saying peace!
Everyone else: Dude you got to work on your outro.
Yeah I know.
