A/N: Alrighty here it is! The long awaited arrival for the originals! Well one of them at least. I hope you guys like what I made Fallon and if you still haven't figured out who the mysterious 'M' is, you'll see his full name actually mentioned in the next chapter. Hope you enjoy!
Third Person
Mate. The word shot through his head like a bullet. Accompanied by emotions ranging from surprise, awe, joy, fear, and above all, guilt. He had a mate. A person in the world made to perfectly complete him. Someone to love and cherish and live his life protecting and holding. She was beautiful, almost ethereal looking in her beauty because she stood out so much from the others who he had come to see in this town. Her hair was pink and curly and while it may have looked outlandish on anyone else, it suited her. Dressed to kill with a smile that tore at his unbeating heart, she was, at least on the outside, everything he could've wanted. And by the way she laughed and spoke softly to a friend on the phone he assumed she was just as lovely on the inside.
And Finn Mikaelson did not believe he deserved any of her.

"And Damon is totally in love with her and so doesn't want to admit it-" Caroline had decided that Fallon needed a run down of almost everything that had happened in Mystic Falls since she left, barring the supernatural which she was unaware was rampant in this town, and she'd happily prattled on for almost an hour. Not that Fallon minded. Caroline had always been sweet and caring and so eager to please.
"Hey Care?" Caroline halted abruptly and looked at Matt. "Why don't we give Fall a break, okay? She still hasn't seen everyone yet and Jeremy has been impatiently tapping his leg for about 47 minutes exactly and I'm sure if he doesn't get his sister back soon, he is gonna explode." There was laughter in his voice and eyes, and Jeremy certainly looked ready to turn nuclear.
"Fine. But you are so calling me later and we are finishing this. Ooooh! How about a shopping trip tomorrow? Please Fall, it's been so long since we went crazy with pretty clothes for a day." The puppy dog eyes had always been Fallon's undoing. From anyone she cared for honestly. The second the big eyes and lip came out, she crumbled like dirt.
"Sounds wonderful, Care-bear" A squeal erupted from Caroline's throat as she once again pulled Fallon into a tight hug. She grabbed her bag, now babbling on about new shops and 'oh god, Fall! We should totally get our nails done'. Fallon just nodded along grabbing Jeremy and waving goodbye to Matt as she walked Caroline out to the front. They embraced one last time and the bubbly teen went on her way.
"So…. Caroline hasn't changed" Fallon's face was pulled in a comical expression that could only be described as 'Post-Caroline'. Her little brother laughed loudly and wrapped an arm around her shoulder.
"I don't think anything could change Caroline Forbes. And I don't think any of us want anything to anyway."
"True. Absolutely True."

Fallon. Her name was Fallon. Fallon Gilbert. Eldest sister of Jeremy and Elena Gilbert. The doppelganger that his brother, Niklaus, needs for his hybrid race. His mate was her sister. Why had no one mentioned her? His siblings never said her name and no other sister was spoken about.
After following his mate, Fallon, his mind supplied, and her brother from the Grill, Finn found himself more and more enamored with her. She was kind, almost worryingly so. She had stopped and comforted a little girl crying over being separated from her mother. His mate had wiped the girls tears and asked what her mother looked like and where she had last seen her. After a minute, a woman frantically came running out of a nearby store. The little girl had run to her and the woman embraced her tightly. Fallon and her brother had watched on, smiles on their faces. But there was an undercurrent of pain in both their eyes. An unspoken loss that traveled between them. The only loss you saw in the eyes of those who'd been ripped away from someone they loved deeply far too young. It had been in his siblings' eyes when Henrik died. And again when their mother was buried. The same loss he had carried in his own eyes for decades before Niklaus daggered him. Seeing that loss reflected in his mates eyes was a new kind of pain. But he pushed it away in favor of worry.
She had stopped and helped a young child, and while his undead heart skipped a beat seeing the kind smile and soft hands working to give the girl comfort, he couldn't stop himself from fearing that she'd find her big heart get her into trouble. He'd just have to keep her as safe as he could without actually speaking to her.
Finn did not deserve to speak to her. She was beauty and life and everything good. He was a stain on the world. But still, when that smile had graced her face at the sight of the child, for a moment, Finn Mikaelson found himself hoping she wouldn't see him as such.

It was getting late when they came home. Bags full of groceries and hearts full of love. They had run into Bonnie along the way and she hadn't noticed the slight stiffening when they hugged. Hadn't seen the confusion in the girls eyes. What she had noticed, was the silent sweetness that rested on both Jeremy and Bonnie's faces when they locked eyes. But there was also pain. And a guilt she had never seen her brother possess before. For a second, she let herself reach out with her powers. They loved each other, it was obvious. But some type of betrayal hung heavily in the air and she couldn't bear feeling the longing that Jeremy projected so heavily. Pulling away, she and Bonnie had taken a moment to catch up before the awkwardness became suffocating. Her and Jeremy had walked off to go to the grocery store and that was when Jeremy opened up slightly. Saying he'd been dating Bonnie when an ex girlfriend he'd loved very much came back into town. They had kissed. And of course that wasn't okay with Bonnie. She had told him he'd made a mistake, but they both loved each other and if his guilt meant anything, it meant he'd never make the same mistake again. So perhaps there was still a chance. They'd moved on from the topic and soon were giggling like maniacs in the grocery store.
The house was dark, indicating that Elena had gone to bed, yet Fallon made out a lump on the couch.
"Jeremy?"
"Yeah?"
"Who's asleep on our couch?" Jeremy looked over from where he was setting the groceries down in the kitchen.
"Oh that's Alaric, the school history teacher. He was dating Jenna before… But anyway he became kinda an important figure to Elena and me too so he sometimes stays here to let us know we aren't alone." His voice was soft as to not wake the rugged looking man from his sleep. Fallon felt her heart clench. Loss was something Fallon had tasted too often in her life, but the loss of someone you were in love with seemed a new type of torture. She'd have to thank the man for being there for her siblings when she wasn't.
"Okay, let's put the groceries away and then get some sleep" She clapped her hands together and got to work. After everything was away, they went to their separate spaces. Not before, of course, Fallon gave him a big slopping kiss on the forehead (not without difficulty giving how much taller he was then her now) and he'd groaned but she knew it was just little brother embarrassment and not that he didn't like it. He'd hugged and kissed her on the cheek before disappearing into his room. Sighing, Fallon went into her own. A lot of emotions to feel and simultaneously shut out that day. Her powers often left her exhausted and drained whether she used them or not. Constant shielding from the world's emotions left her with a headache, and using her powers left her with a certain hollowness she couldn't describe. She looked outside her window, watching leaves fall from her tree. That's when she felt it again. Another presence, watching her. This time the emotions were different. A litany of hope/fear/loneliness/protectiveness. She didn't see anyone and once again no maliciousness came through, so all she did was draw the curtains and started getting ready for bed.
Still, even a half hour later, when she crawled into her bed the feelings haunted her. They reminded her too much of herself. That unending loneliness that could only be felt by someone with a secret that kept them separate. The fear of rejection, the world. The protectiveness for her siblings. The hope that perhaps one day, she could finally tell them. That they'd welcome all of her with open arms.
Fallon fell into a peaceful sleep knowing that maybe, just maybe, there was someone out there like her.
