There have been many days that have changed my life. The day I married Amelia and the day Poppy was born, stand out the most. Little did I know that this would be one of those days.
"Daddy!" I hear from behind me. I turn from my place by the stove, where I stand cooking pancakes, and catch my little girl running into my arms.
"Good morning! How's my birthday girl?" I ask, as I pick her up and spin her around. I set her down, and she grins.
"Awesome!" she answers. She sits down at the table, and I bring her a plate of pancakes with chocolate chips and syrup. We started the tradition years ago: you wake up to pancakes on your birthday.
Amelia kisses Poppy on the head before she sits down at the table. Poppy looks exactly like Amelia; They have the same golden blonde hair and the same bright green eyes.
Three quick knocks on the door catch our attention. Poppy turns around while Amelia and I stand up. I open the door and find a woman staring back at me. She is dressed in an odd green dress, and her hair is pulled back in a tight bun.
"Mr. Dursley?" she questions. I nod.
"May I come in?" she asks. I nod again, and gesture for her to come inside.
"I am Dudley, and this is my wife, Amelia," I say. Poppy joins us by the door.
"And this is my daughter, Poppy," I continue.
"Good day, Miss Poppy, and happy birthday," the woman says crisply, as she hands her an envelope.
"I am Professor Minerva McGonagall from Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry," she explains.
My eyes widen. Hogwarts? Where Potter went? Poppy is a witch? Not that I would have a problem with that, she is my daughter, but how is that possible?
I've only seen Harry a couple of times since he graduated. Once when he got married, and once a few months after the birth of their second son. I look over at Amelia. Her eyebrows are raised, her expression skeptical. She looks as if she's ready to tell the woman to get out of our house. She probably thinks the woman is insane.
"Daddy! Look!" I hear. Poppy shows me the letter.

After I read it, I pass it to Amelia, who becomes more and more confused as she reads it.
"What is this?" she asks.
"Hogwarts is a school of magic," I tell her.
She looks at me, "You knew about this?"
I nod as I reply,"My cousin is a wizard,"
She shakes her head in shock.
"I know this can be a bit hard to believe," the professor starts.
"Can you show me some magic?" Poppy asks.
The professor nods. She takes a wand from her pocket and points it at Poppy. Poppy is wearing her hair in two braids, and after a moment, they begin to float. They rise above her head, before they float back down. Poppy giggles and I have to smile. Her smile grows, and her eyes are bright. Amelia wears a similar expression. She's still a bit confused but also excited.
Magic still makes me nervous, but I'm sure it can't be as terrible as my parents thought.
"Can I go?" Poppy asks, hopefully.
"Of course, Princess," I answer.
The look on her face is pure joy, and she wraps Amelia and me into a hug.
I know my parents disapprove of magic, hate it even, but she's not a freak. It doesn't matter what they think, because she's my little princess, and that's the only thing that matters.
