Hello All; Well I am back sooner than expected and its all due to me re-watching 911. I noticed that there are a lot of back stories for all of the main character except… you guessed it, Buck. This is my take on what little tid bits we have on Bucks history. I hope you like it and I hope I do it justice, please let me know by leaving a review I like hearing feedback good or bad.

"So, did you find out." Buck asked a little too giddy as soon as Maddie and Chimney walked into the fire station. He had been this way ever since Maddie and Chim sat him down at told him he was going to be an Uncle. IT was the greatest news he had heard in a long time and with everything that had had happened with the Buckley siblings, they deserved this excitement. The one thing he was certain about was that Maddie was going to be an amazing mom, hell she had raised him, and he hard turned out pretty alright.
"Yes, we found out," Maddie smirked.
"And, am I going to have a niece or nephew," He clapped his hands together.
"Buck, you know that you have to wait."
"Come on Maddie, I won't tell anyone," he promised.
"Oh sure, I am going to trust lord blabbermouth, you can't keep a secret if it saved your life." He playfully stumbled back clutching his chest to show how offended he was. Maddie rolled her eyes and turned to Chimney. "Stay strong he will find out in two days."
"Buck will never break me," he grinned, giving her a kiss goodbye.
"I think you are underestimating Buck's ability to annoy," She winked.
"Hey, I am right here," Buck scoffed.
"Yes, you are," She baby talked him squeezing his cheeks to taunt him, "leave it alone Evan, I mean it you will know soon enough."
"Alright, alright you have my word." He walked away in defeat, for now he would have to have the patience he lacked always. He was excited either way, boy or girl he could teach them all the things a cool Uncle that can be frowned upon by their parents. Maddie had already voiced her concern about that, the exact second that she told him in fact. He laughed knowing that though she was not kidding she saw the humor of it all.

They day had been pretty uneventful, with the lack of calls the majority of the day was cleaning. Bobby had been on a cleaning binge since the beginning of June and it had lasted the whole month. Buck couldn't imagine what else could be cleaned, they could eat off the floors they had been mopped and waxed so many times and everything had been organized and reorganized every other day, but Bobby had his list. Each day he would come up with something. It was two days away from July 4th and Maddie and Chimney had decided to reveal the gender of their baby at the annual 4th of July firefighters picnic knowing full well that Buck was in pure agony waiting.
"Hey, quit daydreaming or Bobby will come up with a something else for you to do," Hen whispered as she helped Buck restock the rig. Chimney was off sweeping the breakroom; Eddie was waxing the truck and Bobby was keeping a watchful eye over them all from the balcony as he cleaned the glass siding.
"I'm not daydreaming," Buck argued, "I'm just trying to make this task last a little longer so that I don't get stuck on bathroom duty."
"Smart thinking," Hen laughed handing him a few packs of gauze. "So, have you broken Chimney yet?"
"No, and im starting to think he isn't going to crack, and I will have to wait until they cut that cake on Saturday."
"You are so impatient, I bet those two days will go flying by."
"Not if the calls are like this and Bobby has us cleaning until our fingers fall off." Hen chuckled as she dug through the box of supplies. The humidity in the air was thick and the sun beamed through the high up windows which only seemed to create an oven effect in the firehouse. Eddie walked over to them, wiping his forehead of the sweat that dripped down his face.
"I mean what time is it, I feel like we've been at this for like three days."
"Try two hours," Hen corrected him.
"We are only two ours into our shift," Eddie asked shocked.
"Yep and we have ten to go," Buck reminded him.
"Buckley, Diaz, Wilson; do we need to move on to the next item on the list," Bobby called from balcony.
"Sorry Cap, I was heading for a bathroom break," Eddie excused himself.
"Good, since you're done with the trucks you can be on bathroom duty."
"Damn," Eddie cursed under his breath which caused Hen to laugh."
"And Hen, I think Buck can handle the rig alone, why don't you cover the showers." Buck hid his smile so he could avoid being placed on a new task but then his friends were and him were saved by the bell as the alarm sounded, they had gotten a call.

While the day had started off slow, it quickly snowballed into a mess of barbeque fires, firework injures, and for kicks a few calls of heat stroke that Hen and Chimney had to rush off to. The team was exhausted, the weight of their gear was truly waring them out, and somewhere in their fourth call a bystander had mentioned that it was at a record high. But the night was dying down to an end but though the sun was slowly descending the horizon the heat still hung heavy in the air.
"I cannot stand this heat," Eddie wiped the thick line of sweat from his forehead as he slipped off his boots.
"Eddie, you are Hispanic and not to mention you lived in Texas the majority of your life," Buck asked.
"I also am half Swedish and just because I lived in Texas doesn't mean I live for this blazing heat." Buck shrugged, leaning against the truck, fanning himself with his helmet which did absolutely nothing.
"I should have begged Bobby for an ice cream run between the Cupcakery fire and the BBQ fire."
"Well," Chimney chimed in dabbing himself with a rag. "Looks like you only have about four minutes left to the shift," he pointed towards the clock on the wall, "You can grab some on the way home." Buck hadn't even noticed the time, that pick up in calls had truly made the time fly by.
"I will and I will be enjoying it in the comfort of my AC."
"I cannot imagine you eating ice cream Buck," Eddie chuckled, "king of wheat grass smoothies and kale chips."
"Hey don't knock em till you try them."
"We have," Hen called, "Verdicts in, not a fan."
"Well when I live to be 105 and people ask me what my secret is, I will be thinking of all of you." His response got a reply of eye rolls and groans but also smiles.
"Alright all get out of here, shifts over," Bobby patted Eddie on the back, nonchalantly pushing them to the locker room which was met with no resistance. As Buck put away his belongings and began to pull out his car keys and wallet he tried one last time.
"Chimney, excited for the baby boy," he hoped to throw him but Chim was too smart.
"Nice try Buckaroo," Chimney grinned, "just think you go to bed and wake up tomorrow, then you're down to one day."
"Fine you win, I will wait."
"I don't believe that for a second."

When Buck leaves work, the 12 minute drive home is dedicated to the rock classics and his inability to sing them. Today was a slightly longer drive with a quick detour to the store for a pint of mint chocolate chip and then he was back on the road. He checked the time on his phone, it was nearly nine which gave him just enough time to make it home, shower and then binge watch a little GoT or The Office before checking out for the night. Before turning on the car he checked his phone for the text from Maddie.
"Couldn't break him today huh?" He laughed before texting back that he was unsuccessful today but tomorrow was a new day. He clicked his seatbelt on and began the short trip home, chuckling to himself about the insane amount of times he had tried to break Chimney and how strong Chim had been. In his defense he was only preparing Maddie and Chimney for having a child who may have that strong will and possibly annoying ability of asking until they get their way that every Buckley seemed to have. He had been played by Maddie quite a few times. The phone lit up from the cup holder but Buck let it go as he knew that it was just a quick witted reply.
The roads were pretty empty for nine at night, a few passing by him but perhaps everybody was saving their energy for Saturday. He felt a yawn coming on, maybe he would skip the ice cream tonight and just hit the hay, the heat had wiped him out. He had barely slowed at the intersection when the light hit green signaling to him that he didn't have to stop he kept going. Maybe he should have, maybe he should have stopped or taken a minute to look both ways but it was too late for that now. The last thing Buck would remember is feeling the impact of something large and strong hit his driver side before everything went numb and dark.

"I am so glad to be home, today was rough." Maddie kicked her feet up on the ottoman and rubbed her belly. She had refused to slow down, especially because she was still so early in her pregnancy but already this little one was kicking her but.
"You had a rough day, try getting interrogated by Buck the whole day."
"Well get ready because he says he is ready for tomorrow."
"Oh boy." Maddie laughed sympathetically, laying her head on Howie's shoulder as he flipped through their Hulu queue to find their shows. She was content; happy if she were being truthful. This was something she hadn't let herself be in such a long time, she had even dropped the L word to Howie on the day of their first ultrasound when they heard that heartbeat for the first time. She nestled into him a little more as he finally clicked on a Chopped episode, neither one of them making it through the first episode before falling asleep.
The chime of her phone would wake her about 45 minutes later, she normally never kept the ringer on today for some reason it was. She looked at Howie who was snoring, head thrown back and mouth wide open with a little dribble of drool. She pushed herself up and grabbed her phone, quickly answering the unknown number.
"Hello," her voice still groggy from walking up.
"Is this Maddie Kendall," the voice on the other line asked.
"Yes this is she," She pulled herself up from the couch and paced the apartment.
"This is Nurse Anya Perez from LA County hospital, do you know an Evan Buckley." She could feel her heart hammer in her chest and the blood rush to her ears.
"That's my brother," She replied, her voice now wavering.
"Mrs. Kendall, your brother was involved in an automobile accident."
"Is he okay," she asked panicked.
"I am unable to go into detail of his condition over phone but we need you down here as soon as you can." She sucked in a staggered breath as her body went into panic mode, he couldn't be doing this to her again.
"I will be their as fast as I can." She didn't wait for a response, she quickly hung up and turned her attention to Howie who was still fast asleep. It took a few shakes but he woke up, a little disoriented but she didn't have time for him to catch up.
"What's going on?"
"It's Buck, he was in a car accident, I don't know anything but we have to get to County." He didn't waste a moment on questioning anything he simply grabbed his keys and her purse and ushered her out the door.
