Hi! This is a bit of a filler chapter but I think I've only got a few more chapters of this! So hope you enjoy!

He sat there deep in thought. He was thinking about his relationship with Beth. With Beth, it was all forced. They'd known each other for a long time and both really wanted Kids and that was probably the thing that kept them together - there idea of raising a family. Beth was always so innocent, soft and harmless and that's ultimately Owen broke up with her. He didn't want to bring her into a world of PTSD and trauma when he came back a changed man after the army and he knew that she would never understand him.

Meanwhile he thought about Cristina. She was the exact opposite of Beth. She was a badass. She could be cruel, mean and selfish but she had this passion and determination that Owen loved about her. Although, she was supportive of his PTSD she never really understood it but he always thought the thing that drove ultimately them apart was that she didn't want a family. Her abortion broke his heart. He struggled to except that surgery was always going to be her greatest love and he knew by the end that children would cause more strain between them than happiness. Therefore they were never going to last.

After Cristina left, he felt lost and alone. And then he met the new neurosurgeon in the hospital, who had moved from LA. They both related how they'd had a hard past and both wanted to move on but they moved too fast and we're so hot and cold. She nearly even ran away from him by alter. He felt bad though that he'd blamed so much of the breakdown of their relationship on her and the fact that she didn't think she was ready to have kids when in fact he doesn't know how much of it was because of her tumour or him. And when he adopted Leo, they just kind of got together again and then it became Leo, Betty and Amelia and he finally had a family. Except his whole relationship with Amelia was based on the fact that she was helping him out with Leo while getting Betty straight. Their whole relationship was based on his need for a family and looking back he realised they just weren't meant for each other. He was glad that she now had a family of her own with Link.

He was sat in the hospital waiting room oblivious to the people sat by him. Emotions flying around his head. He was confused, angry and upset all at the same time.

'Owen, it was a bit touch and go to start with but we've stopped the subdural hematoma and Meredith has just got the internal bleeding by the renal vein under control so she's stable and will be taken to the ICU.' Amelia calmly spoke while smiling at Owen.

'Thank you Amelia.' He whispered while he gave a sigh of relief and turned to his mom and Bailey who both gave a small relieved smile.

'Owen.' Amelia whispered squatting down to him and holding his hands. 'We don't know how much brain damage was done though. We don't know if she will wake up.'

He stared at Amelia in disbelief even though he heard her say that to many relative before however the news still felt surreal.

She's out of surgery and in the ICU.

The text was short and bland but to the point. Meredith had kept her promise but was still not telling him anymore information so all he could do was sit in his office and sit in dread. Officially his shift finished 20 minutes but he never thought of going home. He wanted to be there for Teddy but he knew he couldn't really been seen being with her especially after the incident with Owen. So he just sat there. Thinking.

He was still lost in thought when he heard a knock on the door. Still not registering what it was, he continued to get carried away in his thoughts.

'Tom.' A voice called before barging in. 'Link's just called me and told me that little...' Amelia paused realising that Tom hadn't probably registered what she just said. 'Tom? Tom?' She shouted until he suddenly turned around to face her.

'Sorry, I'm exhausted.' Tom said blandly while sitting up and trying to put on a smile. 'What were you saying?'

'Tom?' Amelia whispered while coming closer to him. She knew what he was thinking about. 'Teddy's in the ICU, I stopped the bleed and Meredith saved the kidney. She's stable.'

'You know that she may never wake up and if she does the...' Tom whispered not able to continue his sentence.

'You really care about her.' Amelia stated looking at him. 'I'm sorry Tom. The most I can do is keep you updated, which I will do.' She said smiling at him.

'Thank you, Amelia.' Tom whispered.

'I'm not taking sides Tom but I know you still love her.'

'What did you want be the way?'

'It's fine. I think I'm going to have to stay home with the baby tomorrow but I'll sort out arrangements.' Amelia explained while opening the door to leave.

Soon Tom was left by himself again. Still deep in thought he curled up on his couch and went to sleep.
