Reunion Falls
Chapter 1
"Mabel!" Mrs. Pines shouted. Mabel groaned.
"Yes Mom?" She shouted back.
"Your father and I are going out, can you take this bag up to the attic while we're gone?"
"Okay!" Mabel shouted back, unaware that this was the last time she could ever consider her life to be normal. Her life was about to change in ways she couldn't yet imagine, yet she was oblivious to it.
"Bye!" Mrs. Pines shouted, unaware that she just initiated a chain of events that would come so close to causing the end of the world. Unaware that her daughter was about to discover the her biggest secret. Unaware that she just played right into Bill's hands. Mabel heard the door close and got up to fulfil her mother's request. She dragged the rather heavy bag over to the attic's entrance and put it down so she could get the ladder out of the nearby cupboard. Opening the ceiling hatch, she climbed up into the attic with the bag (albeit with some difficulty) and dropped it onto the floor with a thud. Dragging it over to a corner, she left it there and started to walk back to the hatch, when she tripped and knocked over some suitcases stacked on top of each other. After narrowly avoiding being crushed, Mabel sits up and sees a door. She didn't know that there was a door there. Curious, she tried it. It was locked. Of course it was locked. "If I was a key, where would I be?" she wondered. Maybe her parent's bedside cabinet? Nope. Under the doormat? Also nope. Hidden under a fake floorboard? Unlikely, plus even if it was hidden in a fake floorboard, it would take Mabel years to find it. "Maybe I could break it down, with a battering ram! We don't have a battering ram so maybe with a – ooh! The safe! It was so obvious! Rushing to her parents bedroom, she opened the cupboard only to remember that safes are called safes because they have passcodes. Maybe a birthday! Her father was born on the 2nd of September, so she tried 0902. It didn't work. She tried her mother's birthday, the 18th of June. 0618. Bingo. Rifling through the safe's contents, she found it. A small, silver key. She only hoped it was the right one. Rushing back up to the attic she tried the key. It fit in perfectly. She was about to turn it when a thought occurred to her. "Maybe this room was locked for a reason. Maybe I'll regret this. Maybe it holds are dangerous secret that – ooh secrets!" Now she HAD to open it. Preparing herself mentally for what she might find behind the mystery door, she braced herself and turned the key. Walking into the room with her eyes closed she opened her eyes to see the absolutely horrifying sight of…more boxes. "Maybe the secrets are in the boxes!" She thought to herself. She was right. Looking in the box she found a newspaper article titled "Mystery Solver Catches Vampire Bat!" Under the headline there was a picture of a boy leaning dramatically off of a water tower holding a taser (that he had obviously stolen from the two cowering police officers behind him) and pointing it at a rather large bat. Mabel couldn't place why, but he looked familiar. That's when she looked at the text on the page. That's when she saw the name of the boy. Dipper Pines. When she saw it, she almost passed out. Almost. Then she looked at the date. 10/06/2012. this article was recent. Very recent. It was the 21st of June today. She started to look through the other boxes and found letters from an Uncle Stan. If he was one of her parents' uncles, that meant he was her Great Uncle. She didn't even know she had a great uncle. She read through as many letters as possible and pieced together that Dipper was her twin brother and that they were separated at birth for financial reasons. She also discovered that him and her Great Uncle Stan, or "Grunkle Stan" as he referred to himself as lived in a small town in Roadkill County Oregon called Gravity Falls and that Stan ran a tourist trap called the Mystery Shack. This was insane. Why had her parents never told her about him? This was just too much for Mabel to handle. She left the room, locked it, piled the suitcases in front of the door and returned the key to the safe, leaving no trace of her discovery. She didn't want her parents to find out, as they would be mad that she was snooping, but she had to get there somehow. Slowly, a plan began to form in her head.
Bill watched Mabel intently. "SO SHOOTING STAR FINALLY FOUND OUT. I WONDER, COULD SHE BE OF USE TO ME? I'VE BEEN KEEPING TABS ON HER FOR A WHILE NOW AND IT SEEMS TO ME THAT SHE COULD BE THE SPARK THAT IGNITES THE FLAME THAT IS WEIRDMAGEDDON. BUT I AH E TO BE CAREFUL, SHE IS ON THE ZODIAC AFTER ALL. WAIT! IF SHE'S ON THE ZODIAC, THAT MEANS THAT AT SOME POINT SHE WILL END UP IN GRAVITY FALLS! IT'S DESTINY! IT'S ALL COMING TOGETHER NOW." Bill was speaking to himself once again as he watched Mabel. "IT'S ALL COMING TOGETHER NOW."
