Chapter One
"Some souls are connected by an ancient calling beyond worlds"
…
Salvatore Bradly, sighs as he lies on his bed at the private ward of Johnson's hospital. Seventy-five years old and suffering from diabetes and acute leukaemia, now life is demanding its payment. Salvatore or Tor as his friends call him does not feel cheated in life though. No, he is content. Nearly thirty years of serving as a US Marine as one of its EOD specialists, he is a lieutenant before his honourable retirement. He has done his duty for his country and his family, and he can't ask for more. He is graced with a beautiful wife that bore him two beautiful daughters. Both of course now have families of their own. He even had the pleasure of scaring their partners to be by playing the hard-ass father. Now that's a memory that sustained him with humour many bored nights.
His breathe hitches as once more the familiar feeling of pain and stabs his back. Tor grimaces as he tries to hide his wince from his two goddaughters who are keeping him company on his room today. Their parents, her daughters are out at work and the two thirteen and fifteen year olds had been the assignment of "keeping grandpa company" today. The two of course agreed though they soon left him rest since any kind of stressful activity apparently knocked Tor out easily. Talking long apparently is one of them. Now the two young ones are busy watching the new Frozen show at the private room's television that is trending for young teens and kids these days to entertain themselves. The two are unfortunately so engrossed on the final part of the show that they do not notice the final moments of their grandpa as he experiences a seizure for the last time.
For Tor it seems like everything seems to freeze as his entire body seized up before a blinding pain snaps all the way to his chest that literally robs him of his breathe. In a way it does literally for he could feel a coldness seems to seep into his entire being. It is not just a coldness that he experiences when facing winter months no. This is a coldness that goes into your very being as if your very soul is being filled with ice vein by vein. With this coldness comes a stench, a stench that one could only know by facing death face to face. For Tor who has been a soldier his entire life, it is a familiar thing. He has been around it long enough to recognize it. Now as darkness slowly dims his eyes, he welcomes it with open arms.
Before he passes away fully though, his eyes linger at his two granddaughters still looking avidly at the tv screen. He is glad; he does not want them to see this way. Let them think he has passed away in his sleep peacefully. For some reason his eyes turn to the movie that the two are watching. The scene is that now of the newly christened queen being accepted by her people as she creates a skating ring with a step of her foot.
Tor chuckles mentally at the scene. The real world is not as gracious as that. People will never be accepting of what they can't control or understand. For some reason he feels pity for the young queen in the movie. She would have a hard life ahead of her with her people unable to understand what she really is.
"Besides, I wonder how it would feel to be in a world like that where magic exist," Tor mentally thought to himself as the darkness overtakes him.
Before he could let his entire being fade however, something akin to a whisper breathes into his ear: "Be careful for what you wish for soldier,"
And just like that, something akin to a bright light flashes in front of Tor's face.
….
Terry Wood or commonly known as Terry the Wink due to him trying and failing to flirt with women always yawns widely as he stared in boredom at the ships currently docked on the harbour of Arendelle. As usual, the harbour is full of ships. Not that surprising since Arendelle despite being a small country is built on a strategic point. The main trade of the capital comes from the countless ships that dock and ressuply into it on their long voyage to the Atlantic. As a result of such strategic location, more powerful countries and kingdoms make sure that Arendelle is a neutral nation with everyone treating it as such. It is the only reason why they haven't been invaded yet. No one is sane enough to invade Arendelle and garner the wrath of so many nations who would not have their enemies gaining such a strategic advantage. Thus due to its position, Arendelle remains such a nation of peace and plenty with only the occasional troublemaker causing issues.
Of course not everything is peachy though. Terry grimaces as he remembers the accursed news that the King and Queen had been killed on a trip to Corona, Arendelle's ally. That is a hectic time with the Council of the King taking power in a time of crisis until the young Princess Elsa, the regent would be old enough to resume the mantle.
Still, that is not Terry's problem, no. Terry's problem like all guards is to keep an eye on the harbour and the shores to make sure nothing is wrong. It is a boring job and Terry only has it because his commanding officer has enough of him being reported by several women from the single tavern at the shoreline for flirting. Who could blame him though? They are too beautiful for him to resist. They don't have to be that pretty else he might not even have tried.
Terry yawns again as he positions himself with his halberd to lean on a nearby barrel resigning for the next five hours of boredom.
He never notices the woman literally stepping out of the waves a few meters away from him.
…
Bright crystal blue eyes open in wonder absorbing everything it sees. He….She has never felt so alive. His….Her entire being is on fire, like someone has poured her a dose of the sweetest honey. His….her body remembers the pain, the strange weakness it experienced of being so old and frail. Now however he…she is not. A hand covered with white gloves is raised in an eye level. He….she is slender looking, but she has never felt so strong before, not even in the previous life. And his name….her name…he is Salvatore Bradly, father, soldier, friend, grandfather. However that is not her anymore. He is a part of her but at the same time not. No, his memory, his personality of who he is, is also her. The same time however she is not fully him, she is free.
"My name is Silvanna," she murmurs as she looks at her gloved hands before looking herself over at the waters of the shoreline. What she sees makes her gasp.
A hand slowly touches her face. She is beautiful in an elegant sort of way. Her face is sharp and narrow with a cute pouty lip and a high nose. Her hair is long dirty blonde that is pale and braided that fells at her back. Something akin to an open white buttoned navy uniform clings to her body covering failing to cover the navy blue form fitting shirt beneath it. Something akin of a small gold chest piece also hangs at the middle of the jacket connected to a pair of elbow length white gloves. A bronze belt connects her brown and black pant that leaves nothing to the imagination to her top. Knee-high boots made of steel adorns her feet. In other words she looks gorgeous and intimidating at the same time.
Blue eyes full of life blinks trying to absorb the information. Before as Salvadore, she never truly believes in the concept of reincarnation. She believed then in the presence of a Creator, a being that created everything. However not in all ancient texts does she manage to read being born again, and to a woman's body that is not his previous life at the same time.
Unfortunately for the newly christened Silvanna, her time on admiring herself is brutally cut short as a piercing scream rents the air coming from the shadows of the docks a little far off from the beach. Her former life's instincts immediately kick in as personal worries become irrelevant as she moves to the source of the commotion. It does not take long for her to find the source and she scowls as her eyes take note of the scene.
Five men it seems are surrounding two people. One is dressed on what seems to be guard uniforms in the eighteen hundreds with the top ridiculous rectangle hat alongside that tucked in green uniform and white pants that make him look like a strutting peacock. The other behind him is a woman with the odd clothes wearing what seems to be a dress with wide sides. Around the two are the five dirty looking men with stained and ripped shirts. The three it seems are holding clubs while the other two are wielding what it seems to be a hatchet while the other has a knife. They are laughing and leering at the guard as he tries to threaten them with the halberd he is holding in a very inexperienced manner.
"If only I could stop myself getting involved in situations like this one," Silvanna sighs to herself before creeping behind the five using the shadows and barrels (who uses barrels nowadays?). It is actually quite easy with the way the five have their attention on their victims.
Suffice it to say that Silvanna just gets into position in time for shit to hit the fan.
There is something akin to a yell followed by a yelp making her cock a head out to investigate. She grimaces internally as she saw the one with the axe cut grab the halberd on its centre just as the guard makes a clumsy thrust and pulls. Overextended and unbalanced, the guard is pulled along with the spear and fell to the floor. The five only laughs as they step on the dazed man towards the woman he is protecting.
Silvanna does not waste any more time. Breaking cover she immediately leaps over the barrel she is hiding and dashes towards the nearest man-with-a-club. If she is observant though, she might have noticed that her body moves way faster and more graceful than any human being sort to be. As it is, she simply ignores it as she reaches the back of the first man and immediately stuns him with a karate chop on the neck. He fells forward like a sack of potatoes, his fallen club picked up by Silvanna.
"What the-," his partner never manages to finish his sentence as the club with a flick flies towards him going "whoomp-whoomp" for a few seconds before smashing into his temple. He frankly joins his comrade in Hypnos' realm.
Third club guy is a bit more attentive than his other two friends. Bit attentive, but not big on the brains. He roars loudly making Silvanna smirk as he raises his club above his head and smashes it downward. It would have been bad if it hits. As it is, Silvanna simply moves her body to the right a few inches before putting strength to her knees and raises it forward. Face meets the metal kneecap and the face lost tremendously. Silvanna easily finishes him off by pushing him at the side of the dock with a small "Splash" below.
As it is she faces the two remaining men who are now facing her weapons drawn. With a knife and a hatchet, the two seems quite confident. She cocks her head at them, apparently impressed that the two have some brains compared to the three.
"You bitch! You took out our friends!" the one with the knife yells before charging forward knife poised like a roaring rhino.
Apparently not too smart.
Repeating the same move as before, Silvanna easily dodges the charge grabbing the wrist with her arm she yanks it upward resulting to a satisfying "crack!" as bones broke. The man starts to yell only to go an octave higher as Silvanna's feet clocked him right between the jewels.
Incapacitated, she easily pulls out the knife from his fingers which she then flicks straight towards the remaining guy who tries to block the attack with his hands. Right, brilliant manoeuvre. Silvanna's face has a deadpan expression on it as he howls, dropping his hatchet as he jumps around in pain. Picking up the fallen halberd on the ground, Silvanna twirls it like a baton over her head before bashing the poor man with the blunt end of it at the side of his face knocking him unconscious like a bag of bricks.
And just like that the small fight is over. Dropping the halberd, Silvanna simply looks at the two that she has saved. Their faces it seems are imitating goldfish with the way their mouths remain open and their eyes wide as saucers as they stare at her.
"Are you two alright?" she asks stepping towards them making sure to step on the unconscious figure along the way. The guard it seems is the first one to gain control of his vocal capabilities.
"You're a woman, and you dressed up like a man," he says. Silvanna just blinks. Of all the things she has expected to hear, that is not it.
"A thank you would be nice," she idly comments flicking the strand of loose hair covering her right bangs. "I did beat five of your attackers to save your asses,"
"And you fight like a man," the guard continues making Silvana roll her eyes at the sexist comment. Seriously, what happened to gender equality?
Ignoring the guard fully, Silvanna turns her eyes at the woman who "eeps" at her attention before hiding behind the guard. "You, can you tell me where this place is? Or why are you two dressed like that?"
"Dressed like what?" she asks in an affronted tone.
"Forget I said that, just what this place is?" waves Silvanna off.
"This is the village of Rosa, chief harbour of the Kingdom of Arendelle," answers the woman. "Are you lost?"
"Arendelle, Arendelle where have I heard that place before?" Silvanna mutters beneath her breathe. For some reason the name sounds extremely familiar, too familiar in fact. It is a place, but a place where? She had been too many places in her previous identity, but she had never hide nor hair of this Arendelle place. It does sound familiar though like she's supposed to know it. Then she pauses as her mind finally connects to a face, a terrified face facing a crowd holding a sceptre and a cross even as frost bites its bottom.
It's like going into memory lane; Salvadore old and lying on bed watching television with his granddaughters. They are watching that movie, what is it called again? Frozen? That is where he has heard about Arendelle. The setting of that story, the city, the kingdom, a kingdom made by Disney of all things, a fantasy.
Silvanna blinks as her mind pauses and tries to keep up in terms. She is in a freaking fantasy world created for kids with a body not like his previous one. If not for the fact of the amazing emotional control that Salvadore had in his previous life, she would have been shrieking her head off now. As it is, Silvanna simply breaks into a cold sweat as reality and disbelief wars with one another.
"Are you alright miss? You've been standing there looking at the post for the past few minutes or so," Silvanna blinks as she pulls herself back, wrapping all the stuff she has known to a tight box inside her head as she focuses on the present.
"What?" the sight that greets her gives Silvanna pause.
It seems that during her "alone time" with her thoughts, people have slowly gathered to see what the commotion is. With the people gathering of course at this ungodly time of the night, the night guards also come to investigate. Now here she is standing on the spotlight with people gathered around here. It doesn't help that the majority though of the comments as to why a woman of her calibre would be fighting and wearing clothes that belong more to a man for some reason.
"Make way! Make way!" a gruff voice calls out making Silvanna turn as the crowds parted revealing what it seems to be a bearded man with an eye-patch over his head. He is dressed in a more intricate uniform with the same colour as that of the guard she has saved only with more gold buttons on it. He looks like he has been dragged out of bed also if the half-in, half-out pajamas are any indication.
Silvanna simply raises an elegant eyebrow at him as she realizes that she is the only one that is not bowing. The crowd of people have all their heads bowed.
"You, are you the one who did all this?" demands the big man.
"Frankly they are the ones causing trouble. I'm just the good citizen who chose to step in and stop that trouble," answers Silvanna. "And it is only appropriate that the one asking questions be the one who introduces himself first,"
Everybody gasp at her words though Silvanna promptly ignores them as she remains focused on the bearded man. The silence it seems goes on and for a moment she thought that she might have miscalculated on this new world when the bearded man snorts a laugh before raising a hand to her.
"You've got spunk girl! I'm General Horst, head of Arendelle's forces. You have my thanks for saving my man out here miss….?"
"Silvanna," she simply answers receiving the hand of the general. "Silvanna Highwind,"
