AN: A little bonus, basically, just because I couldn't help myself…and because I still needed an opportunity to thank the wonderful La Cuidadora for all the time she spent correcting my spelling and grammar while writing this story. Hope you'll enjoy this last chapter, my friend!

"So…Who's that?" The graceful green-eyed woman asked, while strolling through the huge mansion, looking at the portraits on the walls.

"That would be one of my great grandfathers on my father's side, Diego Sánchez de la Vega. He was the second Mexican Governor of California." Her fiancé answered.

"Mexican? I didn't know you had Mexican roots! I always thought you were of English descent."

"He was, in fact, Spanish…his grandfather had been among the first who settled in Los Angeles and it was also in LA where Diego met the great love of his life, Victoria." The tall, well-built man said, pointing towards the woman in the portrait next to the first. "They had six children together, including two pairs of twins."

"That's a lot of children."

"He also had an adopted son, Felipe, so, seven in total. It's Felipe's descendants who inherited the De la Vega Hacienda, which served as Governor's Palace for several years during those times. I understand it's still in the family."

"But I thought the Mexican Governors, just like the Spanish ones, used to rule from Monterey…"

"Most governors did rule from Monterey, but they also had the power to move the Capital. So Diego moved it to Los Angeles, at least for the six years he governed, between 1827 and 1833."

"He must have loved Los Angeles quite a lot to do that. It couldn't have been more than a small village at the time!"

"I do believe he did, indeed, love it. He used to be the Legendary Zorro before, eventually, becoming Governor."

"Zorro? The masked hero/ outlaw?"

"That's what my father used to tell me. I grew up on stories of his adventures; at least, on the ones which survived…He was also a university professor and a man of science; a remarkable individual, apparently, still in the history books as one of the best Governors of California. During the period he governed, he made school attendance compulsory, granted citizenship to the Indians and made the first major land reform. Quite an extraordinary man, no doubt."

"Handsome, too, if that portrait is in any way accurate. You know…I think you do bear a certain resemblance to him. Same black hair, same blue eyes…"

"My mother used to claim that I inherited my eyes from her side of the family."

"I understand she was a very beautiful lady. I wish I had known her…"

"I barely knew her myself…" He uttered, his expression sadden by the memory of his parents' tragic death.

"And that?" She asked pointing towards another portrait, trying to distract him from his gloomy thoughts.

"That would be Diego and Victoria's first daughter, Elena de la Vega. My great, great, great grandmother. She was a lot like her father, apparently, but her cause was the abolition of slavery. Elena, together with her husband, as well as some of her other siblings and friends, saved several hundreds of slaves before and during the war of secession.

"She was also an extremely beautiful woman!"

"Yes…one of the great beauties of her time. And this" he stated, indicating towards the next portrait "is her husband, Philip…His father had come from England to the Americas and was an inventor. He traveled all over the current territory, including California. In fact, there is also a story my father told me claiming that their two fathers, Diego and Henry, had first met while the former was Zorro. As the story goes, Philip's father worked with the mayor of Los Angeles to capture Elena's. She wasn't yet born at the time, and Henry stood no chance against the Fox of Los Angeles. But, can you imagine if he had succeeded? Neither Elena nor any of her descendants, me included, would have ever existed. Fortunately, Diego was much more clever than his misguided adversary."

"Fortunately! So, was Zorro your inspiration? I mean…the black suit, the cape, the mask covering the upper part of your head…"

"Your mask does the same, Selina! And your suit is also black."

"Well…perhaps he was also my inspiration, Bruce..."
