After the school day was over, Bulla made her way to the front gate. Just as expected. Pan was there, waiting for her. However, there was another student there as well, a taller male student. He put his hand on the gate and leaned over her. "Hey, Pan." Bulla said, catching her attention. "Are you ready to go?"

"Yes, please!" She responded with a smile, blowing off the boy in front of her as she joined her friend.

"B-But hey! Wait!" He called out. "What about that date!?" His attempts were to no avail. The Saiyan duo just ignored him and carried on their way. Luckily, once they found their way down the hill, the orphanage was only about a mile away, so they could easily make the trip in a little less than thirty minutes.

"So, who was that boy?" Bulla asked her friend.

"No idea. He was saying some weird things like 'I can see an eternity with me in your eyes,' and I was just like, 'Eehh...okay buddy...' I'm really glad you came along when you did." She told Bulla, causing her to laugh.

Bulla could notice Pan staring at her with a warm smile on her face. "What is it?"

"Oh, nothing. It's just..."

Bulla looked over, curious as to why Pan would hesitate with her words, something that was very uncommon for the quarter-Saiyan. "Hm?"

"You don't laugh and smile so much nowadays. So when I see you like this, it's comforting." She told her. It wasn't long before they made it home, where they were greeted by the caretaker, Akame Iwase.

"Hey girls! How was your first day?" She asked as she turned around, her long brown ponytail flowing with her movements. Her brown eyes were full of joy upon their return, and the two made a note of the feather duster in her hand and the dust on the apron of her maid outfit.

"It was great! I even made a couple of friends! But our homeroom teacher is real scary!" Pan started, hugging herself as she felt chills run down her spine.

"I'm so glad to hear! And, what about you, Brief?" She asked. "Did anybody give you any trouble today?" She leaned over to look Bulla in the eyes, but Bulla found herself turning away.

"No, ma'am. Today was fine." She said quietly, clenching her hands around the straps of her backpack. The thought of Yaoyorozu, and her radiating kindness, made her chest feel tight once again. I... I want to feel that again... A warmth so similar to Pan's...and my mother's...

With a sigh, Iwase straightened up again. "Well, I'm happy to hear that nobody bothered you today. Go ahead and get some rest while I get dinner started."

"Yes ma'am." Bulla said quietly.

"Yes ma'am!" Pan told her excitedly as the two returned to their room.

Upon returning, Bulla instantly got into bed and reviewed her notes, while Pan began to find some new clothes. "Hey, watcha got there?" Pan asked, floating next to her friend.

"It's a sketchbook of my classmates. It'll help me keep track of how much abilities in this world can vary." She explained, filling in bits and pieces that she hadn't had the opportunity to put in before.

"Well, hopefully the information on them will help you make friends." Pan said teasingly as she grabbed her clothes and left the room. Roughly twenty minutes later, she returned in a plain white tee and gray sweatpants. "Man! It feels great to have pants again! I can't tell you how annoying it is to fight with a skirt on!"

"Even you couldn't have gotten into a fight that quickly, so what are you talking about?" Bulla asked her as she began to doodle logos and objects from this world.

"Nuh-uh, think again!" Pan said. "That teacher of ours, Vlad King, he had each one of us spar against him! I managed to push the big guy back some, but he immobilized me before long!"

"He immobilized you? What was his Quirk?" Bulla asked her, prompting her friend to look up.

"It was some kind of blood manipulation! Ugh! He grabbed me by the leg and slammed me down, and before I knew it, I had this red crystal-like substance all over me!" She yelled, swinging her arms in frustration. "I bet I can beat him next time!"

"Think again, Pan." Bulla told her in disappointment. "Don't forget, despite our Saiyan lineage, we've only had minimal training." She began, looking down into her palm. "We're stronger than the average person, yeah, but in this world, so is about 80% of the population. We're on even playing fields here because we never trained like our families did. We know the basics to an extent, but our Saiyan blood can only take us so far." Her hand clenched slowly, and she continued to doodle in her notebook. "Just don't think too highly of yourself just because of who our parents are-were..." She corrected before pressing her lips together tightly.

"I guess you have a point. I mean, my dad was like, a hundred thousand times stronger than me by this age! That's so frustrating to think about, though!" She said, stomping her foot.

"Well, we should have trained harder with our parents then. It's up to us to get stronger now. So you'd better not slack off for the next three years." Bulla told her. "Oh oh oh! What if we became Super Saiyans?! I remember my dad telling me about that all the time!"

"A warrior pure of heart and awoken by anger, the Super Saiyan only appears once every thousand years." Bulla recited. "My brother would often tell me something similar to that about the Super Saiyans. Although he and Super Grandpa Goku achieved that form like that, our dads, as well as Uncle Goten, achieved it by training. However, they had access to means of training that we'll never see again, like their ultimate weight training and Hyperbolic Time Chamber training." Bulla put her notebook down and looked over to her friend. "I'm sorry, Pan, but I don't think we're going to unlock it that easily."

To her surprise, it was almost as if Pan stopped listening, as she was now rummaging through her drawer. "So, did you ever manage to get a clue as to what these are?" She asked, holding up the white card with the orange-and-silver earrings attached.

"No, not a clue. Didn't your dad ever mention anything about earrings being important?" Bulla asked, putting a finger to her chin.

"Maybe. For the life of me, I'm drawing a blank, but I know there's something familiar about them." Pan told her as she put away the earrings and walked over to the closet, grabbing some clothes out of Bulla's closet. "Go ahead and take a shower!" She threw the clothes up to her friend and jumped onto the bottom bunk.

Ten minutes later, Pan burst into the large bathroom. "Bulla!"

"AAAHHH!" She screamed, her arm darting for the nearest towel. "Pan! What the hell?!"

"Oh, I'm sorry, hehe..." She said nervously. "I just remembered something about them and I didn't want to forget!"

"Then next time, WRITE IT DOWN!" Bulla yelled as her friend came in and locked the door.

"I'm sorry, but I remember now! Those earrings were Super Grandpa Goku's and Uncle Vegeta's!"

"Huh? You're saying they were your grandpa's and my dad's earrings?" She asked. "That's impossible, though. There's no way my dad would have worn earrings."

"But it's true! My dad always told me about how whenever they were in a jam, the 'Potara Earrings' would lend them the other's strength!" She explained.

"Lend them the other's strength? What does that even mean?" Bulla asked.

"I'm not sure, but doesn't that sound ominous and cool!?" She asked. "I remember that they were wearing it when we last saw them, but they disappeared midway through!"

"I'd like to remember that day as little as possible, Pan." Bulla growled. "So, how did they end up in your pocket, then?"

"That's what I'm trying to figure out!"

"Well, if you haven't figured it out yet, do you think that I could get back to my shower?" Bulla asked her angrily.

"Oh, right... My mistake, hehe!" As she left, she could hear Bulla yelling after her.

"Pan! You broke the lock on the door, dammit!" Following their encounter, Ms. Iwase came by to rig a lock for the door, allowing Bulla to finish her shower. Returning to her room in jeans and a tank top covered in a bluish-green sweater.

"So, how was your first day, Bulla? You didn't really give Ms. Iwase much info about it." Pan asked her, putting her book down.

"The teacher was really shady-looking, and he gave us a Quirk assessment test and ranked us." She explained.

"Oh, that sounds fun! Where did he place you?" Pan asked her.

"I was placed at the top, but there's this one boy there who can use ice, and ride it like a wave. Who knows how strong he really is, though?"

"It sounds like you'd better watch him closely, then." Pan said teasingly. "Extra closely."

Looking over, Bulla could see the mischievous smile on her friend's face. "Oh, shut up!" She shouted, taking hold of her mattress and flipping it onto the floor. The whole time, despite being flipped, Pan couldn't stop herself from laughing. "I didn't recognize him immediately, but he was at the entrance exams.

"Wait, that ice boy?!" Pan asked, emerging from the new mess of blankets and sheets. "How did I not think of him immediately? He's in your class?"

"Yeah, he is."

"Aren't you excited then?! It's only a matter of time before it's you and him, one-on-one!" Standing up, Pan took a fighting stance similar to Bulla's and mimicked her punches.

"You already know how much I hate the cold! I'm doing whatever I can to avoid that guy!" Bulla told her before crawling into her top bunk.

"Wait, aren't you going to help me put my bed back together?"

"No, you brought that upon yourself." Bulla responded, pulling up her notebook. After several moments of silence, a thought crossed Bulla's mind. "Pan n-!" Before she could get the words out, Pan had flipped the top bunk, and she tumbled with her bed.

Pan chuckled and descended to the floor before beginning to straighten her bed. "Hey, you brought that upon yourself." She retorted with a smile. As Bulla picked her head up from her blanket, glaring at Pan, she simply continued to smile. "You have to admit, that was a little funny."

Dropping her head with a long sigh, Bulla took several seconds before looking up. "Yeah, it was." As she admitted the truth, she got to her feet and began putting her bed back together.
