Gogo kicked the kickstand of her motorcycle down before swinging her leg over. Summer vacation was finally here and after a long day of job searching, with admittedly no good offers as well, she needed to unwind. A quick run was in order, hopefully, she would have enough time before she was supposed to meet the others at Headquarters to check out the latest room Rodney had just finished, a theater room, if memory served correctly.
She placed her earbuds in, turning on her music, before heading off in the direction of the greenbelt. Her head bobbed to the beat as she jogged down the path, ignoring the world around her, that is until she was almost done with her first lap when her phone started to go off. She groaned as she slowed to a stop to answer the phone, "This is Gogo," she announced, as she started to move forward at a much slower pace, so she could still talk on the phone.
"Gogo, Chief Cruz called, he wants to talk to Big Hero 6 at the station," Hiro's voice filtered through her earbuds.
"I'm at the park," Gogo grunted, "Be there in five," With that, she hung up without saying goodbye, there just wasn't time to be polite if Chief Cruz wanted to talk to them at the station instead of catching them at Lucky Cat Cafe, then something big must have happened. If that was the case then speed was essential.
She picked up her speed until she was going as fast as she could without her suit, which was fairly fast, even if she didn't think it was that good. It didn't take long at all for the queen of speed to reach her destination, the park's parking lot. Gogo slowed down, no point getting to her motorcycle winded, and pulled her keys out of her pocket.
Nearby she heard shouting and a horn honking. She spun around lightning-quick, before bolting in the opposite direction of her motorcycle, a little boy had wandered out of the parking lot into the busy street. She pushed herself to the limit, racing against time, all it would take was one distracted driver to hit that little boy... she didn't have time to finish that thought, She was in the street now, the boy was in her arms, there was a slight pain in her side as she scooped him up at the same time she turned around, but there wasn't time to acknowledge it. She rushed back to the parking lot and set the boy down, who hurried back to where an older woman was calling for him.
Gogo took a deep breath, gasping as pain shoot through her side, she must have pulled a muscle when she turned that way. She glanced at the little boy and his mother, she was simply buckling him into his car seat, so much for gratitude. Now, what was she doing before she had to pull that kid out of the street? Her phone buzzed, alerting her of a text. Fred wondering where she was. Hiro, Chief Cruz, the police station, they were waiting for her! and if there was one thing that Gogo couldn't stand it was having others waiting for her. She was supposed to be the fast one.
...
Hiro sat his helmet on the chief's desk, looking around, they were just waiting for Gogo, who should be getting there as soon as she found a secluded place to suit up.
"She'll be here soon," Wasabi insisted, "If she was at Central Park, she probably would want to suit up somewhere else. Central Park is way too busy on a Saturday afternoon during the summer. I almost got caught changing just the other day."
Just then the door to the office flew open for about half a second before slamming shut again as Gogo suddenly appeared, wearing her yellow uniform, "Sorry I'm late, had to pull a toddler out of the street."
Hiro nodded at Gogo before turning his attention back to the chief of police, "So what's the problem."
"I just got word from San Kyoto, there was a breach in security, a prisoner escaped, they have reason to believe he might come here," Cheif Cruz said, "I'm hoping that I can trust you to help capture this man."
"Of course," Hiro said.
"All right," Fred exclaimed, fist-pumping the air, "Night Patrol!"
Hiro glanced at Fred before returning his attention to his aunt's boyfriend, "So what information can you give us on this guy?"
Cheif Cruz pulled out a file from his desk, "His name is Sang Tanaka," he announced tossing a picture onto the desk of an Asian man with salt and pepper hair and beard, brown eyes, and a scar on his right cheek.
The others might have kept talking, they might have asked more questions, but Gogo couldn't hear them over the sound of her own heartbeat thundering in her ears. Tanaka, San Kyoto, it couldn't be, he couldn't have. There was a ringing in Gogo's ears as she suddenly saw a man, twice her size looming over her, a bloody knife held high in his hand, a cruel, evil gleam in his eyes.
Gogo stumbled backward, away from the knife only to hit something soft and... inflated. Baymax, it was Baymax, she was in San Fransokyo, with the others. She wasn't a helpless eight-year-old anymore. She needed to pull herself together, "Sorry Baymax, lost my balance there for a second." With that, she turned her attention to the rest of the team, who were all looking at her with concern in their eyes, even Fred, and that was saying something, "What?" she snapped.
"You okay Gogo?" Hiro asked, his eyebrows knitting together as he scrutinized her, it was a look she had seen several times on his older brother Tadashi when she was about to test a new bike or something, he was worried and unlike Wasabi and Honey Lemon, she couldn't just tell him to mind his own business, because she knew that he wouldn't listen.
A lie was in order, "Yeah, I'm fine," Gogo lied, "I just pulled a muscle earlier and it is really starting to hurt." Gogo couldn't believe she had actually lied, she had never lied before in her life, and Baymax could detect lies, "I have to go... put some ice on it." With that, she flew out the door before anybody could question her.
"She appears to be afraid," Baymax announced.
"Afraid?" Hiro echoed, glancing at the door that Gogo had disappeared through, "But Gogo isn't afraid of anything."
