*So I guess I couldn't stay away from longer stories for too long, cause I have another one for you guys! I've actually had a few ideas pop into my mind. This one in particular, was suggested after I finished 'Point of no return'. It has no ties to any post-TS4 stories I have written, completely new. So, enjoy!*
"Alright boys, give me the rundown. Wht do we got?" Bo Peep asked. The carnival had stopped in Austin for the week. She and the lost crew had taken a break from helping carnival prizes and were at a playground to help lost toys get played with.
"Bus just pulled up." Ducky said.
"It's a camp bus. Bunny said. And judging by the noise level, there has to be about thirty, forty kids on that bus!"
"Excellent. Woody, you remember where to go?"
"I'm taking the tinker toys and ponies under the jungle gym. Swap out every fifteen minutes." Woody said. His group stood waiting behind him
"Yes. Duke and Giggle?"
"Holly and her friends will come with me and perch themselves by the swings." Giggle said. Four Holly Hobbie dolls towered over her.
"And I'm taking the tonka trucks and Paw patrol pups to the sandbox." Duke said grinning.
"Great. Make sure everyone gets played with, and if a child wants to take a toy, check with the toy first, and then let them. If we can get some toys to new owners after this, it's just as rewarding."
"Just being able to help these toys experience playtime is rewarding enough." Woody said, making Bo blush.
"Kids ahoy!" Ducky shouted.
"To your stations, guys!" Bo said. They separated off into different directions with groups of playground toys. Bo ushered two Bratz dolls and a group of mini Avengers over to the climbing wall. They made it just in time and froze as dozens of kids rushed off the bus and started playing. The kids grabbed the toys and played with them, holding them while on the swings, taking them down slides, and even making up random things for them to experience. At one point, Bo and Woody had been played with, but were set down when they're kids went to grab some water. The two got up and hid under the sea saw.
"This is amazing Bo! Everyone is getting played with!" He said happily. He looked at her with admiration. "You did it again, darling." She smiled and stared at him. He had been back with her for six months now and she was happy he was back, but in her mind, she feared it wouldn't last. It's all a facade. She thought. Something is going to happen, he'll change his mind, I know it. She shook her thoughts aside.
"Okay enough staring. Get back to your station." She said, walking back to the climbing wall. Woody watched her leave, confused. That's the third time she's blew off my comments. Something's wrong. He thought. I'll ask her about it later. He shrugged and went back to the jungle gym. The kids stayed for two hours more, only stopping play to eat lunch, and then soon loaded back onto the bus.
"Yes! We did it." Duke said, pumping his fists in the air.
"Another playtime, perfectly executed. Every toy was played with." Giggle said happily.
"And some even left with the kids." Bunny said.
"We should be headed back. The carnival opens tomorrow and we have lots more toys to pair with children." Bo said. She began to walk, Woody slightly behind her. He heard Ducky whisper to him.
"Psst, hey! Lone ranger? Your popping the question tonight, right?" He asked.
"You bet. On top of the carousel, the very spot where we got back together." Woody said proudly.
"I haven't said a word to her so she suspects nothing!" Giggle said excitedly. Woody smiled and they continued to walk towards the carnival. Late that night, after closing, he sat with Bo, looking up at the stars on the tent of the carousel.
"It's breathtaking, isn't it?" Bo asked.
"Yes you are." Woody said, staring at her.
Bo laughed a bit.
"Subtle as always, cowboy."
"Subtle, smooth, whatever." He sat up and took a breath. "Bo, there's something I've been meaning to ask you. Now I know it's only been six months since we've been back together, but I've spent nine years regretting not doing this sooner and I've realized if I don't do it now, I never will." She sat up and he took her hand. "Bo Peep, I love you with all my heart. Will you marry me?" In his fingers he held a tiny silver ring. Bo smiled slightly and then gasped. Bad memories flooded her mind.
Her screaming...
Him yelling at her...
A hand smacking her face
And a dainty little gold circle
That memory knocked her back and she whimpered.
"No." Was all she said. Woody lowered his hand, confused.
"What?"
"I mean...oh. I'm sorry, honey. I can't. I can't marry you, I...I'm so sorry." She turned away quickly and rushed off, leaving the cowboy stunned.
