Romantic Trolley Ride

Hello again fanfic guys and gals! Thank you so much for all the positive feedback, favourites and follows! I am back with a fifth one-shot for you! Now in my previous story we looked at the 2nd Rio movie, where Roberto decides to train Blu to survive in the Amazon. But now as this is my fifth story, I wanted to go back in time to the 1st Rio movie again. Hope you all enjoy the story! Let's get straight to it shall we?!

It was a glorious and beautiful afternoon in all of Rio, and it was the perfect scenery. The golden sun had just set and turned the sky into a shady orange that illuminated the clouds, giving it a mesmerising glow.

Through a part of the city there was a trolley that was carrying passengers to their rightful destinations. Then sitting on top of the trolley there were five birds, with three at the back and two sitting at the very front of the vehicle.

The two birds at the front were our favourite blue macaws Blu and Jewel. A toucan, Rafael and a yellow canary Nico with his best friend Pedro a red crested cardinal, were sitting at the back of the trolley while staring at the two birds at the front. They were attempting to find a way to bring these two closer together. The only problem was, they had to be cunning and sly to make it go as planned.

"Hey guys, listen up! We got to try and get these guys together!" Rafael whispered to his friends, so Jewel wouldn't hear him. Nico and Pedro just nodded while looking towards Blu with hopeful smiles.

Rafael started to try and signal Blu so he would turn around and face them. So he started to make small noises to gain his attention. "Hey Blu! Pssst!" He tried to make it as quiet as possible, so that Jewel wouldn't hear him. But tried to make it clear enough that Blu could hear him.

Blu slowly turned around to face Rafael with a curious eyebrow, and Rafael just signalled with his wings in response to tell him to move closer to Jewel. But Blu knew the way to do it, but he felt a bit uneasy because he had never done this before.

He's seen this kind of manoeuvre in romantic movies and click flicks back in Minnesota. But to do it for real, especially with a girl that he really liked made him gulp nervously.

"Don't worry, I got it!" Blu whispered back confidently. But he still had a tonne of insecurities and negative thoughts going through his mind while this was happening. Mainly because he didn't want to screw up and accidentally end up falling off the trolley beak first.

Blu's POV

Ok, so how do I do this? I just got to play it cool. You know, just move a little closer to her…..like so. Alright that was only like an inch! Stupid Blu! Just move like a little more.

Ok, now I've got closer to her, I need to play my cards right here! Oh! I could lean on her? What? No! I shouldn't do that! Then I could make her feel awkward and uncomfortable! Definitely not the best thing to do.

Oh! I could do what that guy did in that movie where he pinches the girls butt! Or I could slap her butt? Or pinch? No slap, pinch, slap or maybe both?

No, no, no, no! I can't do that! That's being a little forceful. Oh, I could put my wing round her? That could work! Let's try that!

Ok Blu….deep breath! Let's just keep it simple! Nice…..and easy!

Third Person

As soon as Blu moved a little closer to Jewel, he didn't notice that Jewel had stolen a quick glimpse of him before looking away slightly. So, he proceeded to be romantic and try to put a wing round her. Rafael noticed this from a distance and he got extremely excited as his wings were trembling ready to punch his wings in the air.

"There he goes! That's my boy!" Rafael whispered to the samba birds while getting very excited. Purely because he wanted these two to fall in love since the day he met them.

Blu then slowly leaned across and proceeded to put his wing round her to comfort her. But Jewel quickly noticed him and started to blush slightly. But instead she decided to play along. Because to her, she wanted to be a little playful to toy with him. Considering she enjoys it when she sees how nervous he gets.

"What…..whatcha doing there Blu?" Jewel asked while slightly giggling at him as he was attempting to be a hopeless romantic. But Blu quickly repelled and started to fan himself slightly. Blu literally started to panic inside his head as he was thinking of an excuse to save himself from being humiliated or ridiculed.

"Oh, me? No I was gonna say…..is it hot? I think I'm sweating! I didn't think that was biologically possible. But look!" Blu awkwardly responded while lifting up his left wing. Jewel's smile quickly dropped and it was replaced with a little creeped out look. Her eyes flew wide open and she was quite shocked. Especially since she hasn't seen so much sweat before.

"Oh….wow!" Jewel replied while slowly looking at his wing and then back at the view. But she did think it was kind of cute how Blu was attempting to comfort her. She soon went into deep thought because she really wanted Blu to tell her how he feels. Because deep down, she really does like him. Like…a lot!

Jewel's POV

I think it's quite sweet what he was attempting to do! I mean, I'll give him credit for trying. I mean, I do think he's cute….and handsome….and charming….and oh he's so adorable.

Most guys around here, well the ones who aren't my species. They are only interested in two things! Mating, the typical one! Then of course it's my looks! I mean? Really? Why can't all guys be like Blu? He doesn't seem to care just about my looks? He also understands me…cares for me…..actually shows an interest in my personality rather than just the way I look!

Should I say something? No I think it's better if I just wait for him to say something. But what if he doesn't say anything? What if I panic? Oh for the love of samba Jewel! Just relax…..and enjoy the ride. He will talk soon…..just be patient!

Third Person

After the failed attempt of Blu trying to comfort Jewel. Rafael just wingpalmed himself while staring at the two blue macaws with a worried expression. Nico and Pedro just found it hilarious and started to snicker.

"Yep! That's your boy alright!" Nico responded sarcastically while elbowing Pedro slightly in a playful manner. This made Rafael just turn and look at him with an expression that says "You're not helping!" Of course they noticed the angry look on his face and immediately stopped laughing altogether.

"Ok, so he needs a little help! How about we give him some? Set the mood," Rafael slyly says while winking at Nico. But before the yellow canary could respond, Pedro flew in front of the toucan and prepared himself for action. Then again, Rafael already wasn't convinced that Pedro knew the meaning of setting the mood.

"Aight! Look, I know how to set…the…mood! Check it out! Get it get it get it get it get it get get it girl! Get get get get get get get it girl! Take her take her to the floor! Show her show her how you roll! Drop it drop it drop it low! Drop it dr drop it low!" Pedro started to rap slightly, but Rafael soon heard enough and stopped him before he carried on.

"Woah woah woah woah! What kind of mood is that?!" Rafael responded a little annoyed and confused by Pedro's idea of setting the mood. He did kind of see it coming though considering Pedro was more of a fast paced singer that was better for parties and events. But soon Nico had an idea and flew up to Pedro to explain it to him.

"Pedro! Pedro! A little too aggressive! Not hating on your creativity, but I think I got this one. Follow me lead!" Nico responded to his friend rather confidently. Then he proceeded to whistle gently to provide a soft sound. Then Pedro began to pluck the guitar strings to play some soft music. It was the perfect combination for a situation like this.

"Now that's more like it!" Rafael whispered to himself as he prepared to fly through the trees with blossoms on to make the scenery even more romantic. Then the song began to play in the background.

(Fly Love – Jamie Foxx starts playing)

Nico: Wasn't really thinkin', wasn't lookin', wasn't searching for an answer,

In the moonlight, when I saw your face.

Nico then flew right in front of Blu and Jewel as he sang to give the scenery a more beautiful atmosphere. Jewel slowly turned to Blu and narrowed her eyes slightly in a seductive manner. Blu didn't notice this as he kept staring at his talons nervously. Jewel decided it was time to break the awkward silence.

"Wow! What a beautiful sunset," Jewel remarked while staring at the orange sun that illuminated the sky with the rays piercing the sky with a glorious glow. Blu just slowly turned to her and awkwardly replied.

"Yeah," was the only thing he could say. He had too much on his mind regarding what to say. But these thoughts were interrupted when Rafael called him from the side of the trolley as the song progressed.

Nico: Saw you lookin' at me, saw you peaking out from under moonbeams,

Through the palm trees, swayin' in the breeze!

Rafael flew right next to the trolley. "Hey Blu! Down here!" Rafael whispered to gain his attention. Blu quickly turned to face him. "Just tell her, you have beautiful eyes!" Rafael quietly beamed. He knew that he needed to give Blu all the help he could get in order for the blue male to seal the deal with Jewel.

"That's good! Great idea!" Blu replied while nodding approvingly. He then slowly faced Jewel who was staring at the sunset with so much admiration for its beauty. Completely oblivious to Blu who slowly opened his beak. "I have beautiful eyes!"

As soon as Blu said this he opened his eyes really wide and stared deep into Jewel's turquoise eyes. But she got a little creeped out and decided to reply as best she could, but she wasn't sure how to respond.

"Yeahhh, okay sure! They're, they're nice," Jewel awkwardly replied before looking away confused. Blu wasn't entirely sure what he did wrong. He was only doing what Rafael told him to do. That was until he turned to face the toucan with a desperate plea for help.

Rafael mentally wingpalmed himself and corrected Blu from further embarrassment. Well so he thought.

"No! Her eyes! Her eyes!" Rafael responded rather hastily. To which Blu then quickly turned back to Jewel to try and fix his mistake.

"Uh I mean, your eyes! Your eyes are great! Not mine! I mean, mine are ok…but yours! I bet you can see right through them!" Blu nervously spoke while trying to say the right thing. But Jewel just slightly smiled and turned away again as she felt a little freaked out.

Nico: I know, I'm feelin' so much more than ever before,

And so I'm giving more to you than I though I could do.

Rafael had one more piece of advice that could save himself from complete humiliation. "Hey Blu! Just tell her how you feel!" Rafael whispered to him, which made Blu nod his head and turn around slowly to face her.

"J-Jewel?" Blu started very confidently and managed to gain her attention. But inside he was shaking with so much fear and anxiety. His heart was beating at a rapid pace. But he did pluck up all the courage that he could muster.

"Yeah?" Jewel replied quite hopeful, because in her head she really wanted Blu to tell her how he felt. Soon her heart began to beat rapidly as well. She was waiting for this moment to happen.

Jewel's POV

Please Blu! Tell me that you like me! Please tell me that you care about me! Come on Blu! Please tell me something! ANYTHING AT ALL!

Third Person

Blu just swallowed his fear and looked straight into Jewel's eyes with so much warmth and emotion. He was finally ready to express his feelings for her.

"I've been wanting to tell you…..that I…..that I….I really like you! Like a lot!" Blu stuttered at first and very nervously finished his sentence. His heart was beating at a much faster rate and soon he felt a nervous blush coming.

Jewel was very relieved inside her heart. She wanted Blu to tell her that he liked her. Because she felt in her heart back at the samba club that she was falling for him too.

"Blu…..I….I like you too. Like a lot!" Jewel replied while narrowing her eyes and staring deep into Blu's soul. "Now come on over here! Sweaty or not, I would like your wing around me now!" She seductively whispered. She was really happy inside her heart. Her heart rate started to slow down as she became more relaxed.

"A-a-Alright, here I come," Blu nervously replied while leaning next to Jewel and putting his wing round her. Jewel then slowly laid her head on his chest and felt very comfortable next to him. The song was nearly coming to its conclusion as they both stared at the sun that was slowly disappearing over the horizon.

Nico: Don't know how it happened, don't know why, but you don't really need a reason,

When the stars shine, Just to fall in love,

Made to love each other, made to be together, for a life time,

In the sunshine, Flying in the sky.

As the song carried on, Blu felt much more relaxed and pulled Jewel closer to him. Who accepted it and started cuddling up against Blu's chest feathers. Both of them closed their eyes in complete relaxation.

Rafael turned to Pedro, who gave a wingtip up and Rafael just sighed as he slowly fell against the top of the trolley. "Finally, my work here is done! Now we need to get the chain off," Rafael thought in his head as he started whistling slightly to Nico's whistling.

Jewel slowly looked up at Blu and asked him a question that made him feel quite nervous. But she really needed to know how he felt about the little...incident at the samba club.

"Hey Blu? Back at the samba club…..did you want to kiss me?" Jewel asked very hopeful that Blu will have wanted to kiss her. Blu then began to blush a deep red and got very nervous. But he took a long deep breath and replied quite confidently.

"Well, yes I did. You were so beautiful and you danced so gracefully like an angel. Your bright turquoise eyes staring into mine just made my heart melt. And I didn't even feel like we were wearing a chain around our talons at the time. From the moment we got interrupted by those marmosets I got very upset. Because I really wanted to kiss you Jewel," Blu replied rather calmly and confidently.

Jewel began to tear up slightly as she smiled back at him. She leaned up from his chest and stared deep into his chocolate brown eyes. So she thought now would be the best time.

Nico: I know I'm feelin' so much more than ever before,

And so I'm giving more to you than I thought I could do Ooh

"Then…..why don't we catch up on what we left back at the club? Bluey?" Jewel seductively whispered while batting her eyelashes and narrowing her eyes at him. Blu just gave a deep smile in response and narrowed his eyes at her too.

Both of their hearts were beating at a rapid pace again. They leaned in towards each other, and their beaks were moving closer together.

Then after a few moments of deep intensity, they locked beaks in a deep and very passionate kiss. Their tongues danced around in each other's beaks as they enjoyed this moment. The song was coming to a wonderful conclusion as Nico finished off the final verse of the song.

Nico: Now I know love is real,

So when the sky high, as the angels try,

Letting you and I….Fly love!

As the song finished, Nico landed next to Pedro and they both fist bumped each other as their song was a complete success. But they turned to notice Rafael, who was tearing up at this beautiful scene.

"Rafi? Are you crying?" Pedro asked his friend with a slight smirk on his beak. But Rafael just waved his wing at him signalling to the two samba birds that he was fine.

"It's just so beautiful! Young love! Always so romantic!" Rafael whispered as he started sobbing into his wings. Nico just sat down next to Pedro with a deep smile on his beak. Although they found it quite funny the way their toucan friend was acting. But they didn't mention it as they knew he was a bit of a softie.

"Well Pedro, we did it! We helped bring those two lovebirds together!" Nico beamed at his friend, while Pedro didn't speak as he nodded in agreement and sighed happily.

Back to the front of the trolley, they finally broke from the kiss to gain much needed oxygen. Jewel stared deep into Blu's eyes and stroked his head feathers much to his enjoyment.

"You know Blu, I wouldn't mind if you stayed here with me? Would that be so bad?" Jewel replied as she was hoping that Blu would agree to this.

Blu was deep in thought after she asked him a really difficult question. The main reason why it was tough was because he didn't know how to answer.

Blu's POV

Stay here?! Oh god, oh god, oh god! What do I say? How can I respond to that? I mean, Rio has been an incredible experience for me.

But I still have a life back home in Minnesota! I have Linda, and the bookstore, hot chocolate and cookies, and the snow…..And the bullies Alice and Chloe! And the cold nights, the loneliness…

Maybe it wouldn't be that bad staying here! I mean here, I have friends with me! I have Nico, Pedro, Rafael, the birds at the samba club. And I'll have Jewel by my side.

Well, I think it's better if I did stay, but I would have to find Linda first and break the news to her. I sure will miss her. But this is where I belong! With Jewel, in Rio!

Third Person

Jewel soon got a little worried, purely because Blu had been silent for almost a couple of minutes and she was concerned that Blu might not agree to stay.

"Blu? You've been quiet for a little while? Did I ask too soon? Did I worry you?" Jewel asked while she had a concerned expression on her face.

Blu slowly turned to face her and pulled Jewel closer to his chest. He began stroking her head feathers which made her feel quite relaxed and very comfortable. Then he decided to speak what was on his mind.

"No you didn't worry me or spoke too soon. I just had a little think about it. I mean this is a big decision to make! I have a whole other life in Minnesota, and it will be a challenge if I moved here just like that," Blu replied rather slowly and calmly.

"Oh…..ok. I, I understand," Jewel responded very softly. But soon she started to sob quite softly as she cried into Blu's wings. Jewel may be a spirited and tough bird, but she does have a side of her that shows her vulnerability.

"Woah Jewel, you didn't let me finish!" Blu replied quite quickly as he started rubbing her back and that managed to calm her down. Then Blu lifted up her head and stared deep into her eyes as he wiped away her tears. "What I was going to say was…..that I will stay. Because I want to be with you."

"Really? You're going to stay with me?!" Jewel happily beamed while looking up at him with so much warmth and bliss in her eyes.

"Yes, but I will need to find Linda once the chain is off. So I can break the news to her and say goodbye. Luckily I know how to read and write," Blu replied with a slight chuckle. But he didn't even have a chance to breathe because Jewel jumped on top of him and was hugging him tight.

"Oh thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you Blu!" Jewel happily shouted while hugging him very tightly. But he didn't have a lot of breathing space.

"Ugh…..can't…..breathe!" Blu struggled to reply while being held in a death gripping hug by his new girlfriend.

"Oh sorry! I'm just so happy you decided to stay!" She replied rather happily. But before Blu had a moment to respond, Rafael flew in and landed right next to them. His eyes were wide open and he had the biggest smile on his beak.

"Are you serious amigo? You are actually considering staying here?! That's great news!" Rafael beamed with excitement while jumping up and down. Blu and Jewel both gave him a stern glare because he ruined the moment, but soon they chuckled at how happy he was.

"Yeah, Blu has agreed to stay with me! I'm so happy!" Jewel replied while snuggling next to Blu. He in return just smiled back and kissed the top of her head feathers which made her giggle.

"Yeah, now lets get to Luiz and get this chain off. So then we can find Linda and I'll break the news to her that I wish to stay!" Blu happily remarked while giving Rafael a fist bump. Soon Nico and Pedro joined in on the conversation.

"Yo Blu! It's going be so tight! You staying here with us! As soon as the chain comes off, we will have to go to Carnival to celebrate!" Pedro shouted while doing a loud squawk. Everyone just laughed at him at how silly he was being. Nico soon spoke up as he saw Luiz's garage come into view.

"Hey guys, it's great that our buddy Blu is staying and all, but looks like our destination is here!" Nico beamed while pointing to the garage. Both Blu and Jewel looked at each other and smiled deeply.

"Well my lady? Shall I escort you to the garage?" Blu charmingly said while bowing his head like a gentleman. Jewel only giggled in response as Blu kissed her wingtip.

"We shall my gentleman," Jewel replied in a posh accent and flew down from the trolley as Blu climbed down.

"Ladies and gentleman! I give you….Luiz's garage!" Rafael beamed loudly as he flew inside through the top window, with Nico and Pedro following.

Blu and Jewel looked at each other slightly, they smiled warmly and nuzzled each other before entering. But little did they know…how much a chain being taken off of them….could do to someone's feelings and or emotions.
