It was soon after the defeat of Ganon when Link started hearing their voices. The Champions, whispering to him things they wish they could've said. Link paid as much attention to them as he could, but his patience was waning as the whispering continued to get more frequent. Even the Champions didn't seem to know why they were allowed to do this.

On a hot day, light screamed into Link's eyes as he opened them. It was dark and cold all around him, and he was dripping with the cold water he had awakened in. Terrified, he scrambled out of bed and felt his hip for the Sheikah slate. Luckily, it was there. But how could he be in the Shrine of Resurrection with his memories and the slate?

"Link?"

Of course, Zelda was talking to him again. But her voice sounded more.. peaceful. Suddenly he realized it wasn't Zelda, but Mipha.

"Mipha, wh-"

"Link, please calm yourself, you're dreaming!"

Link suddenly shook his head and realized where he was. He was in his room in the Castle, with Zelda sleeping peacefully in her bed, about a yard apart from his. He inhaled and took a deep breath before falling onto his knees and allowing himself to sigh again.

Zelda awoke, rubbed her eyes, and looked over her shoulder at Link.

"Link? Are you alright?" She asked in a groggy voice. "I heard you fall, are you hur-"

"I'm fine," he assured her, getting back up. "I just fell over getting out of bed, that's all."

Link could see the skeptical look on her face as she looked him up and down. She was onto him but said nothing and hopped out of bed, then left.

"Maybe she's caught on to how bad of a liar you are." Revali's voice snorted.

"Revali, that's not very kind of you," Mipha said, dissapointed.

"I doubt any of the Rito would respect you if they were aware how rude you are." Daruk remarked.

"We needn't disturb Link. You all be quiet." Urbosa declared.

Just like that, the voices were gone and Link was left standing alone in the empty room. He thought that Zelda intended for him to follow her, so he left. She was still standing there, waiting on him.

"What's taken you so long?" She questioned, smiling.

"I was.. reading." Link muttered.

"What were you reading?" She asked, a curious look on her face. Her eyes twinkled as she stared at him.

"Reading.. a dictionary. I bet you didn't know there's a word called perplexed!" He quickly stated, faking happiness.

"I did know that word, actually. Baffled, and/or puzzled." She exactly stated the definition. "I'm glad you're taking an interest in the hobbies I like."

"Of course! Knowledge is a virtue!" Link plastered a smile onto his face.

Zelda blinked, then her eyes twinkled as if she had remembered something.

"Oh! Link, I was meaning to ask! Have you noticed that the Divine Beasts seem to be active and moving again?" She said happily.

She walked over to the window and opened it, then leaned out and pointed in the direction of the Hebra reigon. Link looked where she was pointing and saw Divine Beast Vah Medoh flying above the mountains, the lights down its body shining a brilliant blue. It chirped into the air, a loud yet pleasant noise that swirled the snow into beautiful wisps.

"Even as a spirit, Revali still has a knack for controlling Medoh. He was the fastest one to master a beast, after all." Zelda praised Revali.

"He was a selfish jerk." Link muttered.

"I know you two weren't the best of friends but there's no reason to berate him, you know." She said, placing a hand on Link's shoulders.

Medoh suddenly perched on a hill, snow tumbling down the peak. The lights dimmed, meaning that it was roosting temporarily.

"Of course Zelda takes my side," Revali's voice sounded into Link's ear. "I am the brilliant Master Revali, after all."

"Just shut up!" Link suddenly growled loudly, pounding his fists onto the windowsill.

"O-oh, I'm sorry if I bothered you, Link." Zelda whispered.

"No, it was.. another memory.." Link murmured.

"A memory?" Zelda could clearly see through this facade, but she chose not to say. "What about?"

"Uh.. it was.. Revali, uh.. Telling Urbosa that.. she smelled like sand..?" He quickly made up a memory.

"Quick thinking," Urbosa's voice laughed. "You're a clever voe. Get better on the wording, though!" With a giggle, her voice trailed off and was gone.

"That Revali didn't have the best attitude," Zelda muttered. "Now I see why you think so hurtfully of him."

"Yeah.." Link murmured, leaning forward and closing his eyes as he breathed in the smell of Hyrulian air. He liked what Kass had called it in his song; the "Breath of the Wild." He let it fill his lungs as a soft breeze whisked over Hyrule, making his hair flow pleasantly like a flag waving in the air. But a feeling of dread hung over him as Zelda sighed.

"What's wrong?" He asked, turning to Zelda. Her face had a strange expression, an expression that made Link want to spill every secret he had to her.

"What's really going on, hm?" She asked in a solemn voice. He knew he couldn't lie now.

"The Champions.." Link started. After all of the Divine Beasts' missions and blights, it felt weird discussing the four warriors.

"The Champions?" Zelda inquired, a curious look replacing her strange one. "What about the Champions?"

"They.. I feel like their spirits need something else before everything can be peaceful with them. They keep whispering to me, and I don't know why. Even they don't know." Link explained.

"Whispering to you..?" Zelda repeated the phrase, glanced out the window at Vah Medoh, and closed her eyes to ponder this for a moment. She then opened her eyes. "I know why," she suddenly stated.

"Really? Why do you think so?" Link asked.

"The Champions were killed by monsters, correct?" Zelda questioned, shuffling her hands on the oak windowsill.

"Well, yes. Monsters created by Calamity Ganon himself." Link answered with a nod.

"Mipha.. Sidon. Urbosa.. Riju. Revali.. Teba. Daruk.. Yunobo. That's it." She slapped the windowsill with an open palm. An expression of fear shot over her face. She paused for a momet then looked to Link, her calm demeanor crumbling into a mess of horror.
