Hey everyone, a new one shot for you to enjoy! It's set after the series finale. I came up with this idea when I googled Greg/Morgan moments on CSI. On a website, I read about the series finale and that Morgan could be seen wearing an engagement ring in her last scene. I of course re-watched the episode, but I'm not entirely sure it really is an engagement ring... I took a screenshot, if you wanna see for yourselves: file/d/1K9lMf84fRvDYJfdTjFrgTI3Ar4JJizMa/view?usp=sharing
Anyway, this story is based on if it really was an engagement ring she was wearing. Enjoy! :)

Catherine looked up when she heard a knock on the door. She smiled when she saw Greg and Morgen standing in the doorway.

"Hey, guys, come on in!" she happily said. She smiled again when she saw Greg let Morgan come in first. Quite the gentleman!

"We were wondering if we could talk to you for a second," Morgan said after she and Greg had sat down. For a moment, Catherine thought about playing the innocent. Then she realized they were probably nervous enough about coming here already, so she just said: "Is it about that engagement ring around your finger?"

Almost with her mouth wide open, Morgan stared from Catherine to her ring and back. Next to her, Greg seemed just as amazed.

"Come on, you guys, I've both known you longer, remember?" Catherine said, grinning at their amazed faces.

"So have others around here, but no one else has figured it out," Greg commented.

"Well, maybe they don't know you as well as I do," Catherine replied. She got up to give both of them a big hug. "Congratulations, I'm so happy for you two!"

"Thanks, Cath!" Greg smiled. He looked at Morgan, giving her a warm smile, which she returned. Catherine shook her head. "You two really are the cutest together! But, tell me! How long have you already been going out?"

They all sat back down again. Morgan answered Catherine's question: "For about two years now. We started going out not long after… well, you know, Ellie shot me…"

Greg squeezed her hand to let her know he was there for her. She quickly smiled at him, happy with how he always comforted her when she was feeling down.

"Come on, I wanna know the details!" Catherine urged them. Greg and Morgan both grinned at her impatience.

"Alright," Morgan gave in. "It actually started after my first case back on the job… We had to deal with a baby kidnapping and I broke down at a scene. Greg told me I was only human and that it was okay…"

At the end of shift, Morgan collected her things from her locker. She wasn't surprised to see Greg appear in the doorway.

"How are you feeling?" he asked her. She shrugged her shoulders. "Okay, I guess. Although it'll probably take a lot of time before I really am… I know you don't want me to say 'sorry', but it feels like I should."

Greg already opened his mouth, but she cut him off: "I know, I shouldn't, but I still do, okay? It's just…"

She let out a deep sigh. "It's just frustrating, okay?"

Greg gave her a little smile to let her know he understood. She looked up at him, into his sweet, brown eyes, realizing again how lucky she was to have him as her colleague.

"Would you mind driving me home?" she softly asked him. He opened his locker and grabbed his car keys. "Of course not. Come on, let's go!"

After they had driven over to her house in almost complete silence, Greg parked the car. Morgan turned her head to look at him. "Do you wanna come inside for a cup of coffee or so?"

He nodded. "Sure."

They both got out of the car and went inside, where Morgan started making coffee. After she had, she sat down next to him on the couch. It was the first time he was in her house, she realized, feeling a little nervous all of a sudden. Apparently, he had realized it too as his hand trembled a little when he held his cup of coffee.

"Thank you for driving me home," she softly said. "And for being there for me earlier on. Without you…"

She didn't finish her sentence as she knew he'd understand what she wanted to say. He gently squeezed her hand. "I'll always be there for you, Morgan."

She looked at him, nodding with a little smile. "I know you will be, Greg, and I know why."

Yes, she really did know he liked her. Only days after she had started at CSI, Sara had told her Greg had a crush on her. She had tried to reassure Morgan Greg had had a crush on her as well years ago, but gotten over it.

"Give it time, he'll get over you too," Sara had said. Morgan remembered feeling a little disappointed at Sara's words. It was then that she realized she liked him too. She hadn't given in to her feelings, though, and had tried to remain professional around him. The better she got to know him, the harder it became, though, as she realized there was some kind of special click between them. They joked together, they laughed, they could cheer each other up, they could worry about each other…

Morgan looked at Greg. And here he was, telling her he'd always be there for her.

"I… I…" Greg stuttered, a blush creeping up on his cheeks. Morgan turned towards him and shook her head. "Greg, do you really think I'd be bringing this up if I didn't feel the same way? You're all I've been thinking about the last few months, especially the last few weeks! I'm in love with you, I really am!"

He had stared at her for two more seconds before finally doing what she had wanted him to do ever since she woke up in the hospital: he bent towards her and softly kissed her. As she had already waited so long for him to do this, she didn't let him get away that easily. She wrapped her arms tightly around him and quickly deepened their kiss.

"Eh, we'll save you the details," Morgan quickly decided as she didn't feel like sharing what had happened next. Catherine's amused smile told her she already knew.

"I still can't believe it," Catherine said, shaking her head. "And no one ever realized anything?"

"Not a thing!" Greg proudly grinned.

"Which is why I felt safe enough to wear my engagement ring to work," Morgan explained. "I figured no one would see it and well, they didn't!"

"So no one still knows about you two, except me?" Catherine understood.

"Sara knows," Greg said. "I told her before she left."

Greg looked at Sara, who was emptying her locker. He knew exactly why.

"Good luck," he simply told her. Sara looked up at him and gave him an apologetic smile. "I just have to go…"

"It's okay, I understand!" he reassured her. He gave her a friendly hug. "Tell Grissom I said 'hi', okay?"

"I will," Sara promised him. "But will you please do me one favor in return? Will you please tell Morgan how you feel about her? Please don't let her get away!"

Greg hesitated for a second. Then he softly said: "She already knows…"

Sara's eyes lit up. "You two are going out already?"

"Actually… we just got engaged," Greg admitted. This time, Sara's eyes grew large in astonishment. "Really? When…"

"Just a week ago," Greg told her. "We're hoping to get married in the autumn."

"Well, then I'm hoping we will get an invitation," Sara smiled before hugging him.

"You're on top of the list!" Greg promised her.

"So are you, of course!" Greg quickly added, looking up at Catherine. She smiled. "I wasn't worrying I wouldn't be. Now, just one more thing and then I'll let you get back to work: how did you propose to her, Greg?"

Greg looked at Morgan, smiling. She smiled back at him, still remembering that night.

"Why don't you tell her?" he suggested. She smiled again. "Okay, I will. It was about two weeks ago, when Greg and I both had a night off…"

Morgan looked up at the Stratosphere Tower. Only a week ago, Greg had surprised her by telling her he had gotten them tickets for a special night opening of the Tower. Morgan had loved the idea of going, not only because the Tower wouldn't be filled with tourists, but also simply because she had never been up it.

"Come on, let's go up!" Greg said, smiling at her enthusiastic face. He took her hand and kept holding it as they went inside and rode the elevator to the top floor.

"Oh, wow!" Morgan said as she saw the view. Because it was dark outside, all the lights in the city were clearly visible, making the view absolutely amazing.

"It's so beautiful!" she whispered. Greg patiently waited for her to walk on. He then carefully let her away from the entrances of the attractions on top of the Tower.

"I can't believe I've been living in Vegas so many years already and that this is the first time I'm up here!" Morgan grinned. She looked at Greg. "Remember the first time we met here in Vegas?"

Greg groaned. "I keep hoping you'll forget!"

Morgan grinned again. "I could never forget about that, history nerd!"

She accepted his arm around her and gave him a quick kiss. Smiling, he ran his hand through her hair. "Remember the first case we worked together?"

"Yeah, you thought I had a crush on that model guy!" Morgan remembered.

"And on Nick!" Greg reminded her.

"Oh, yeah…" Morgan thought for a second and then smiled at him. "Well, don't worry, I never really had a crush on either of them! Does that reassure you?"

"Completely!" he joked, causing her to smile again. He then became serious again. "We've been through so much together, Morgan… Not just at work, but also outside of it… Getting together, keeping us a secret for everyone, moving in together… There have been downs, especially at work, but mostly I just see ups. Everything with you is just so amazing, so wonderful!"

Morgan felt a few butterflies in her stomach. Was this going where she thought it was going?

"Morgan, I love you so much," Greg continued, looking deep into her eyes. "And I know I will always love you. You're the one I wanna spend the rest of my life with."

He got a small box from his pocket and opened it.

"Oh, Greg!" she whispered as she saw the engagement ring.

"Morgan, will you marry me?"

She didn't even have to think about her answer for the slightest second.

"Yes!" She almost called it out. "Yes, of course I wanna marry you!"

She threw her arms around him and kissed him. When they broke apart, he carefully placed the ring around her finger.

"I love you, Morgan," he whispered. She looked up at him and smiled at him, a warm smile full of love. "I love you too, Greg!"

Morgan fell silent for a moment, thinking back to the night.

"Ah, Greg, that was so romantic!" Catherine said. "Well done!"

Greg grinned a little shyly. Morgan smiled at him before turning to Catherine again: "After we got engaged, we talked about whether or not we wanted to keep it to ourselves. We decided I'd wear my ring to work and if someone saw it, we'd tell them. But no one did…"

"But as soon as we heard you were going to be our new lab director, we immediately decided to tell you," Greg admitted. "I mean, we know we probably could have kept it a secret a whole lot longer, but we just didn't want to hide it from you. I mean, you're… Catherine!"

All three of them laughed after he had said it.

"Well, thanks for telling me," Catherine then said. She looked at Morgan. "One last question: does your father know?"

"No," Morgan confessed. Catherine shook her head. "I know it's probably none of my business, but tell him, okay? I can't imagine him not being okay with it, but in case he is… Well, that's his problem then, because I'm keeping both of you on my team!"

"Thanks, Catherine!" Morgan smiled. She looked at Greg. "Feel like going over to him right now?"

Greg gave her a little nod. "Sure, let's go."

They got up and left Catherine's office together. As they walked down the hallway, Morgan wondered out loud if her Dad would really be okay with them getting married.

"I'm sure he is," Greg tried to reassure her. "Don't worry, okay? I mean, if there's anyone who should be worrying, it should be me as I'm the one who's marrying his daughter!"

Morgan grinned before squeezing his hand. "You're right, I'm sure he'll love hearing about us!"

"And if he doesn't, well… know that I love you very much," Greg softly told her. Morgan stopped him so she could give a warm, loving smile. "I love you too, Greg, very much!"

She gave him a sweet kiss full of love before taking his hand and continuing their way over to her father's office, not knowing he had already seen the engagement ring on her finger and couldn't be happier for her that she was marrying such a great man as Greg.
