Looking around himself there was nothing but black emptiness.
An infinite void in every direction.
Huge letters started appearing in front of him spelling out some words.

DIFFICULTY: LEGENDARY (IN-VERSE RANK)/ LEVEL S/6 (INITIUM RANK)
Player Christopher Kit Jackson gains 30,000 Initium Tokens, a new status, and 6 Grand Stars!
"Yes! I finished the world! That means I can choose which world I reincarnate into once again!" Christopher couldn't contain his laughter anymore and started laughing like a maniac.
"I know which world I'm reincarnating into already! There's no less obvious choice than the DxD-verse! With my power, I'll become the No. 1 Being surpassing even Great Red and Ophis!" Christopher smiled knowing he was going to have fun in this universe.
"Now I have to wait for the Initium's System to reactivate. I swear the loading time gets longer and longer the more times I complete a world." Christopher mumbled to himself before a golden box started appearing in the void.
[Welcome back Player Christopher Kit Jackson. Please choose an option.]

"The obvious choice is New Game+. I can go back and access the other options before I leave after all." Christopher told himself aloud clicking on the New Game+ option.

Clicking on the option for High School DxD the golden box switched to another screen. Unlike the first two screens, this one was unfamiliar to even Christopher.
Would you like to continue as yourself [N] or take on the life of the main protagonist, Issei Hyōdō [Y]?

"What the hell are you talking about? You're giving me the option of being the main protagonist in a world where there's already one established?" Christopher said thinking it over.
'I'm no stranger to being the main protagonist but could I pull off being Issei? It'd put me in a hell of a lot better position and I'd be in every main event which would bring me closer to being No. 1 but could I do it?' Christopher sighed while continuing to look at the screen.
"Ah fuck it! It'll be a hell of a lot better if I become Issei. Plus there's no denying that the harem he ends up getting is god-tier." Christopher said to himself as he clicked on the [Y] option.
[Confirmed. As you've chosen the option to become Issei Hyōdō stats, skills, perks, and status' will all be reset.]
"What?! That's fucking bullshit! Goddammit, I knew there was going to be some drawbacks. At least tell me all my stat points didn't go to waste." Christopher said looking up at the screen which changed.
[Stat points, perks, skills, and status' are all converting into Initium Tokens which can be used at the World Shop.]
[Stat Point Total: 594 Converted to 11880 Initium Tokens]
[Perks Total: 50 Converted to 5000 Initium Tokens]
[Skills Total: 200 Converted to 10000 Initium Tokens]
[Status Total: 10 Converted to 10000 Initium Tokens]
[Initium Tokens Total: 36880 + 125000 (Previous Initium Tokens) = 161880 Initium Tokens]
"Damn! Well, shit 161.8K Initium Tokens isn't bad. At least I won't go in unprepared. Ooh, I wonder if I could buy another Sacred Gear for myself in the World Shop." Christopher smiled while swiping the screen away.
[Error! Error! Status No. 11: Son of the Luck God can not be removed as it is a Conceptual Being Tier Status.]
[Error! Error! Status No. 12: Great One can not be removed as it is a Higher Being Tier Status.]
[As Status' No. 11 and 12 can not be removed they've been added as special status' for Issei Hyōdō.]
"Huh. Well, at least I get to keep some of my statuses. Great One is a new status though," Christopher said to himself wondering what it did.
[Seeing as you've chosen to become the main protagonist a mental shift will occur in you. You as Christopher will take over mentally and still be in control but will now think of yourself as Issei Hyōdō.]
"Well, I can't complain. As long as I can remember who I am and everything I don't mind." Christopher thought to himself as he felt what seemed like pricks in his head.
[The mental shift has been completed. When you want to continue with the process, please hit confirm.]
Pressing the confirm button, Issei was brought to another screen with two options.
World Shop
Start Game
"World Shop? Let's see what's worth buying here." Issei clicked on the World Shop button being transported into a convenience store.
"Ah! We've been expecting you Issei-san. Welcome to the World Shop where you can buy items that may help you in your new life." The shopkeeper then flourished the store which had hundreds of items on pedestals.
"Ah thank you. I'll take a look around and see if anything interests me." Issei said before deciding to roam around.
Looking around, Issei stopped when he came across a container with three dice in it.
Looking at the name of the item Issei was interested but the description is what made his eyes widen.
World Dice
Description: A pair of three 20-sided dice when rolled allow the user to do a multitude of things. From boosting stats to allowing access to new abilities nothing is out of reach for the owner of these dice.
It's been said the World Dice were created directly by the Great Creator themself.
Initium Tokens Price: 35000
"Damn… this is a good item. And with my luck I know I'll be getting the best use out of them. But damn if it isn't expensive." Issei started wondering if the dice were worth a fifth of all his tokens.
"Ah, the World Dice. An excellent choice for anybody who has a high Luck stat. It's even rumored that rolling the World Dice can grant you any wish you so desire. These World Dice have been in my humble shop since Initium's System was put in place. Only a few players have bought them because of how expensive they are. They also carry on to other worlds as well." The shopkeeper told Issei from the front of the store.
"Hmm… I'll take them but I'm not done yet so don't charge me yet." Issei told the man before picking up the container and looking at other items.
The next two items that piqued Issei's interest was a pair of energy spheres that were next to each other.
Augmentum Infinitum Booster
Description: A sphere of energy taken from the Conceptual Being, Infinity which gives the user a growth buff when used. The growth buff can be used for EXP Gain, Stat Gain, Money Gain, Loot Gain, or anything else. It has the [Evolving] trait which means it'll evolve as the user grows stronger.
It can be bought up to 4 times.
Initium Tokens Price: 2500
Sacred Gear Bestower
Description: Exclusive to those who decide to try and clear the world known as High School DxD this item when used will bestow a random Sacred Gear upon the user. It doesn't matter if the user already has a Sacred Gear as the power of the item will fix any paradoxes. It is even said new Sacred Gears can be made if the user has high willpower.
It can be bought up to 4 times.
Initium Tokens Price: 2500
"Now these are what I'm talking about. I already will get the Boosted Gear but if I can get more power then I don't mind. But wait a second. If it truly is random… Hey shopkeeper. I have a question about this item. How high-tier are the Sacred Gears this thing can give?" Issei pointed to the energy sphere.
"The Sacred Gear Bestower? Hmm well, it all depends on the player's Luck stat. I've seen players who've bought the thing and ended up with a Twice Critical. But I've also seen a player who bought one and ended up having a copy of the True Longinus. The Sacred Gear System in High School DxD doesn't recognize players who have copies of a Longinus Tier Sacred Gear as having 'that' Longinus. Perhaps it has to do with the fact that the Sacred Gears are rescued from abandoned worlds... " The shopkeeper whispered the last part under his breath.
'Abandoned worlds? I know some players can't handle the worlds they're forcefully reincarnated into but to do such a drastic thing as abandon an entire world... I can't forgive those players for that.' Issei thought to himself, balling his hand into a fist.
"I would recommend buying it the maximum of four times for you Issei-san. With your Luck stat who knows what Sacred Gears you could get." The shopkeeper then left to head back to the front of the store.
"Well, might as well get some use out of my Initium Tokens for this world considering I'm gonna be in there for quite some time," Issei told himself before grabbing the spheres.
'Doing some quick mental math if I bought one of each sphere and the World Dice I'd spend around 40K Initium Tokens but if I bought the maximum amount of both of the spheres I'd spend 55K Initium Tokens which would leave me at… 106.88K Initium Tokens. I still have loads after buying all of it so why not?'
"Hey, shopkeeper I'm done buying stuff. Ring me up for the World Dice, 4 Augmentum Infinitum Boosters, and 4 Sacred Gear Bestower's." Issei told the man who ran the shop placing the items on the counter.
"A wise choice Issei-san. Would you like for the World Dice and Augmentum Infinitum Boosters to be put in your Inventory?" The shopkeeper asked pulling three more white spheres (AIB's) and golden spheres (SGB's) out onto the counter.
"Ah yes. Wouldn't want the Three Factions to come after me after sensing the World Dice. By the way, how do the Boosters work? Do they become a physical item that I can wear or what?" Issei said, pulling out a pouch that was a gold pouch that looked extremely heavy.
"The Boosters take whatever form you wish for them to take, be it a ring, necklace, earring, etc. By the way, if you're worried about getting sensed why not buy a Master Illusionist's Ring? It's 100% guaranteed to mask whatever supernatural powers you have up until Level 50. Only for 5000 Initium Tokens." The shopkeeper said pulling out a simple silver ring with runes written on the inside of the ring.
"I see… Well, for what it is it's cheap and since you guys are run by Initium I know the ring is legit so why not. With everything I owe you 60,000 Initium Tokens correct?" Issei asked pulling out a gold coin with a rainbow flame imprinted on the front and a double helix on the back.
"Correct. By the way, I suggest you use the Bestower's here in the World Shop. No entity will be able to sense you use them here except for the System Admins or Game Masters. Just grab the sphere and crush it in your hands." The shopkeeper told Issei who just nodded and gave the coin to the man.
"Transfer 60,000 Initium Tokens to World Shop Shopkeeper," Issei said, watching as his gold pouch lightened.
"Transaction has been completed!" The shopkeeper with a snap of his fingers opened up a little hole in reality. The shopkeeper then put the container with the World Dice along with the Boosters through the hole. He then put the Master Illusionist's Ring through the hole too.
"Your items will be in your inventory when you start your game." The shopkeeper then handed Issei the four gold spheres which would each bestow him with a new Sacred Gear.
Gripping the first Sacred Gear Bestower in his hand Issei crushed it easily watching as white energy flowed out from the crushed sphere. Taking the second Sacred Gear Bestower in hand Issei crushed it with purple energy flowing out and into his body the same as the white energy. Grabbing the second to last Sacred Gear Bestower in hand Issei crushed it and watched as void black energy flowed out and into him. Grabbing the last Sacred Gear Bestower in hand Issei crushed it and watched as multi-colored energy flowed out and into him.
"Ah, I see. You truly are the Son of the Luck God Issei-san. I won't spoil which Sacred Gears you got but let me say that you will complete this world." The shopkeeper smiled before pointing towards the door.
"Just walk through the doors and you'll be back to where you were before. I'd wish you luck in completing the world but we both know you will Issei-san." The shopkeeper then waved goodbye before returning to do whatever he was doing before Issei came.
"Thanks, shopkeeper. Don't worry I'll be back next game. Ja ne!" Issei said before heading through the doors and appearing back in the void.
Start Game
"Well, there's no other option than Start Game. If I remember correctly I should be able to put when I want to be put in the world before its canon starts. A month should be enough time. It'll be enough time to grow sufficiently in power to where I'll be in Rias' peerage no matter what. Ah, crap gotta remember not to call her that until after the match with Riser just to make sure. Also, remember to use suffixes and call Sona Kaichou. Ok… I'm ready now." Issei said to himself, smacking his cheeks to focus himself.
Clicking Start Game, Issei instantly fell asleep as his body and soul were transported to the DxD-verse.
Hello! If you're reading this then that means you finished the first chapter of what is hopefully the beginning of a good fanfic (or at least semi-decent). While this isn't my first attempt at writing fanfiction this'll probably be one of the first fanfictions I have a lot of passion for. I still consider myself an amateur writer so please don't rag on me too hard and please no flames. I'm open to criticism as long as it's constructive and if you see any major mistakes in my grammar or spelling please either put it in a review or message me so I can fix it.
Oh and I'll take this moment to tell you that this fanfic is going to reference a lot of outside universes and in some cases even take things directly from outside properties. This is a little bit of a self-indulgent fanfic mostly because I just like writing characters that are powerful so while things may get cringey at times I ask that you please keep reading. Thank you for reading the first chapter of DxD the Game: Prepare to Die Edition.
If you're still reading I advise you check the author's note at the end of every chapter as I may explain something relating to the fanfic at the end. For this first chapter I'll explain what exactly the "Initium System" is.
Database Entry No. 01: Initium System
The Initium System is the Gamer System run by the Conceptual Being of Games. The Conceptual Being of Games was born when the concept of 'games' came into existence. And as time passed by the Conceptual Being of Games became fascinated with video games and more specifically the ability of [The Gamer] and the [System] made by Sung Sang-Young (The Gamer's Author) and Chu-Jong (Solo Leveling's Author). And so with the vast amount of power that he commanded the Conceptual Being of Games made Initium's System. The Initium System is an outside of the universe organization which is run by the Conceptual Being of Games and the various staff under him; Game Masters, System Administrators, System Moderators, and finally System Helpers. The Initium System takes beings which either the various staff of the System take interest in or god-like beings such as the children of Conceptual Beings and turns them into a term that the Conceptual Being of Games ripped straight from Solo Leveling, Players. Players are then given an explanation of what exactly being a Player entails along with a basic rundown of what Initium's System does and are given the chance to either leave Initium without ever truly joining (and go back to whichever world they came from) or join and start clearing worlds as a Player.
Now you must be thinking why exactly did the Conceptual Being of Games even make Initium in the first place? Such a gigantic organization would clearly take a humongous amount of power to sustain. There are a few reasons the Being of Games made Initium. Firstly, for the simple fact that Conceptual Being of Games was bored and as a Conceptual Being he has vast amounts of power which can be generated infinitely as long as games are played. Secondly, the clearing of worlds by Players actually gives the Being of Games and his fellow Conceptual Beings a form of entertainment as they can watch a Players 'playthrough' a.k.a the clearing of a world like one would a TV show or YouTube video series. Thirdly, the clearing of worlds gives an energy runoff in the form of 'Grand Stars' which are artifacts of immense power which can be used by Conceptual Beings for their own personal use which can not be easily made even by Conceptual Beings. Finally, the Being of Games just wants his Players to be happy and Players find enjoyment in being able to live in and interact with places and beings only told of in stories to Players.
These are the reasons that the Initium System exists and why they are bestowed with [The Gamer] ability when clearing worlds to help them grow.
