Chapter 1

Awakening of Power

"Where am I?" It was the question a boy asked himself when he opened his eyes and found himself surrounded by darkness. He couldn't see anything and was starting to feel scared. "I need something to see." The young man said, crouching down to start feeling the concrete floor with his hands, touching an object with a rather familiar form he stood up and pressed a button. A beam of light lighted up the site and the boy could see that he was in a kind of dark passageway covered in metal with some kind of a strange organic matter was attached to the walls.

"What the hell...?" The boy touched the material and recoiled as a viscous substance stuck to his hand. "I have to get out of here." Walking down the corridor, he realized that the road stretched several meters without an apparent exit. "The exit must be this way." When the thought was said a metallic sound was heard behind his back, which led him to turn and point with the beam of the lantern a sliding door that gave access to ascending stairs.

"Nice place to stay" The young man said while starting his ascent. As he went up the stairs he decided to do a check on his memories. "My name is Ethan Frailer, I'm 16, I remember going to sleep after I got back from school and now I'm here." He said feeling a lot of confusion about how he appeared here instead of being in his bed. When he reached what appeared to be the exit of the ascending tunnel, a tremor shook the place and the young man had to bend down to avoid collapsing to the ground. "An earthquake?" Ethan said standing up and running around an area that looked normal and his eyes stared at every corner looking for any clues to get out of there.

"Come on, some sign that says exit or something to help me." As he crossed a corridor, the boy's eyes fell on a luminous sign indicating the way. "Okay, if every thing I ask for is going to be fulfilled I'm going to consider ordering a coffee and sandwiches because I'm starving." Ethan with sarcasm while following the right path, turning in a corner he found something that left him frozen. Right in front of his eyes was a wooden table where a cup of warm coffee along with a plate of sandwiches rested. "This is a coincidence, maybe it's lunchtime in this place and I'm running away at lunchtime." Ethan said drinking coffee and voraciously eating the snacks to quench the hunger he hadn't felt until he saw food. A new tremor extracted him from his relaxation and reminded him of what he was doing.

"Sure, there's no time to eat." He said finishing the café to follow the signs again and upon seeing some big doors that seemed to give access some kind of entrance lobby he felt so glad that ran faster and walked through the doors in a hurry. What he found on the other side was something he didn't expect to see in his whole life.

"Surely the dinner was in bad shape and I have hallucinations, this is impossible." Ethan said as he set his sights on a combat scene that he had seen several times when he watched one of his favorite shows, he knew well the situation he was watching as much as those involved in the fight.

"Kid, get his attention while I look for a way to neutralize him!" A young man said that Ethan recognized as Robin while evading a blow from a grotesque monster who used to be a scientist named Desmond. Another young, a red-haired boy running at high speed, named Kid Flash nodded at the request.

"Hey. Where did you come from?" A dark-skinned young man said that Ethan recognized as Aqualad and realized he was addressing him.

"Ah... Oh... I came out of the lower levels." Ethan answered and the conversation did not go unnoticed by Desmond who turned to see the newcomer, as he saw that he was an easy target the giant decided to pounce on the young man.

"Damn, Superboy stop Blockbuster before he gets to that boy!" Aqualad shouted. The aforementioned Superboy, in his outfit he wore when leaving Cadmus, tried to stop the giant's march, but the boy got stuck against a wall at receiving a backhand hit. Ethan was petrified to see that mass of muscle approaching him and the only movement he made was to extend his hands forward as he screamed.

"GET AWAY!" A kind of very powerful force made Desmond to get thrown backwards and his huge body hit one of the lobby walls with such force that the structure trembled. Those present were stunned by the display of power and Ethan could not believe what had just happened.

"Did I do that?" He said to the air while watching his hands carefully and then saw Desmond's body fall to the ground in a state of unconsciousness after impact.

"Amazing" Kid Flash said when he saw the newcomer quickly removing the threat. Aqualad was surprised too and Superboy who checked Blockbuster's status. Robín, for his part, watched closely at the newcomer with some suspicion at the sudden appearance during combat alongside the great power he possessed to eliminate such a powerful enemy effortlessly. 'A telekinesis user apparently.' Robín thought as he joined the other young men who approached Ethan.

"It was amazing man, you beat that muscle mass like nothing. How did you do it?" Kid Flash asked approaching the young man with his jovial and relaxed attitude after the fight.

"I'd like to know, just react in fear." Ethan said honestly.

"You said you came out of the lower levels of Cadmus. Are you another clone or experiment?" Aqualad asked with caution and at the question everyone looked at Ethan seriously.

'Certainly, this is the start of the series and they have just left a clone factory and other genetic experiments.' "No, I just woke up in a dark passage. I found some stairs that brought me to this level, followed some signs to get out of here and I ran into you." That answer seemed to clear up some doubts but not quite.

"What's your name?" Robin asked.

"My name is Ethan Frailer, that's all I can remember at the moment. I woke up in some kind of dark basement and when I went up some stairs I got to this floor. I was looking for the exit to see what city I was in when I ran into you, the rest you know how it went." Ethan couldn't tell them that he came from a world where he watched a show and read comics where their lives served as entertainment for the world, they would take him for crazy or they would probably suspected his story.

The group of young heroes looked at each other and seemed to have a whispering talk. "I'd like to hear what you're saying." Ethan thought in his mind.

"Do you think he tells the truth? We just left a clone factory with Superman's son at the same time this guy appears out of nowhere." The young man almost daunted when the whispers became sharp words as if he were in the middle of the talk.

"It's hard to tell Wally, apparently he has psychic powers, and it looks like he came out of Cadmus's lower levels. It could be a clone or some kid they kidnapped to reap his powers." Robin said.

"Anyway, Ethan helped us deal with Desmond so we can claim he's not an enemy. It would be best to take him with us and have the League take care of seeing what will be done with him." Aqualad contributed his sensible opinion to the conversation, it is not difficult to think that he would become the leader of the group with that focused attitude that he showed prior to the formation of the Team.

"Ethan." The group of heroes finished speaking to get the boy's attention. "We appreciate your help in the fight, I think you should come with us so we can help you." Aquaman's protégé said.

"I think it's okay, I need answers about how I woke up here at the same time as I did that." Ethan said pointing to Blockbuster's unconscious figure. Everyone nodded and walked through the front door and went outside project Cadmus to stumble upon a starry sky along with a large full moon.

"Well, we can't show you the sun. But there's a panoramic view of the moon." Kid Flash told Superboy who abandoned his serious expression to admire the huge celestial body above them. They all unite in contemplation but their attention focused on figures flying towards their position.

"Oh, I think we're in trouble." Aqualad said as he watched the Justice League descend to the ground and his eyes were set on each of the boys. Ethan could see that Superman saw Superboy with surprise and uncertainty by appreciating similar genetic traits along with the sun suit with the symbol of His house. Batman, the most intimidating member of all, also observed Krypton's clone but focused more on Ethan's figure.

"God, that look in comics and shows is not well represented. It's much worse." The boy thought.

"I want an explanation, now." Gotham's hero said.

Moments After

Following the report that each of those involved in the raid on Cadmus offered Batman along with the action of League members to take Desmond's monstrous body, the heroes were not very happy with what had happened.

"Hacked confidential Files from the League, infiltrated an unsupported facility where you are almost removed. You won't do this again." Batman said with authority, but something happened that Ethan expected.

"I'm sorry, but we'll do it again." Aqualad said.

"Kaldur, back off." Aquaman said.

"Excuse me, my king. But I won't, we did a good thing here.

"If this is about what happened in the Hall... Detective Martian said, but he was interrupted.

"We discovered a covert cloning operation and put an end to it, we are ready to work on our own after all the training we've had." Robin said.

"You three..."

"The five of us." Wally said bringing Superboy closer and surprisingly Ethan to the group. "We're in this together."

"In other words." Superboy said. "You re with us or get out of the way." That phrase was very blunt on the part of the clone who decided to express his opinion.

"What he said but more delicately." Wally said. The league members looked at each other and some nodded at the words of their protégés.

"All right, for the moment, retreat back to the Hall of Justice, we have to make a decision." The young men nodded at the apparent victory of their stance and set off to the site. Ethan, who was about to accompany them, was held by a hand on his shoulder belonging to Batman. "We have to ask you a few questions about what happened in there along with the reason why you were in the building." Ethan wasn't anxious to have that talk.

Hall of Justice

Robin, Aqualad, Kid Flash, and Superboy, who was now wearing blue jeans, a black T-shirt with the Red Superman logo, and sneakers, were inside the Justice League earth base resting after the battle they experienced.

"Do you think they'll let us work as a team after this? I saw them quite convinced that they wanted to force ourselves to retire." Wally said as he ate some potatoes.

"Our decision to stand firm made them have a meeting, I would say we surprised them by our resolution and we have a chance." Aqualad said.

"What do you think will happen to Ethan?" Wally asked. The group was still thinking about the boy with that tremendous mental power who helped them in Cadmus. "I hope you they let him join us, someone with his powers would do us good."

"Surely Batman is interrogating him to know as much as he can about him, he wants to rule out the possibility that it is some weapon designed to destroy the League or that it is a spy whose goal is to destroy us from inside." Robin answers causing that the rest of the occupants in the site gave him nervous glances. "You shouldn't be surprised because you know what Batman is like."

"I don't think it's a clone, I was one of the many projects that Cadmus scientists had inside their facilities and they made sure I was familiar with the rest of my brothers who were created in there." Superboy said.

"Could they not realize they had a specimen enclosed in the deepest levels of that place?" Wally asked innocently causing ironic glances to be thrown at him. "Forget it."

"Whatever it is, once they figured out what they can about Ethan, we'll find out what happened ourselves." Aqualad said and the rest of those present nodded as they thought what the future would bring to them about the possible formation of their own team.

Meanwhile, Watchtower

To say that Ethan was intimidated would be sugar coating it, the young man was terrified in the presence of Batman as he knew that the dark hero could be relentless in figuring out what he wanted to know. Physical torture was not necessary, the simple use of his presence along with psychological tactics were enough to make anyone nervous. It's not that Batman used them with a young man who had no idea, it was just Ethan being scared to know all the tools that could be used with him.

"We've done an analysis of your name, DNA, and we've cross-checked them against the database, and there's no record of your existence. You just came out of nowhere." Batman said and Ethan tried to stay calm, he knew he couldn't hide from him the fact that he came from another universe but didn't want them to know all the information he had in his head. "So I'll ask you again. Who are you really and where do you come from? Unless you want us to believe that you were created in Cadmus to be a weapon."

"There's a reason why I don't appear in your databases." The boy said calmly, the next step would be risky, but it was the only way they could believe him. "But if I say it you will believe that I am lying or that it is impossible, so if you have any method to verify that I say the truth use it with my complete authorization." Ethan said. Batman gave him a stern look before sighing and making a signal to the glass that it was in the interrogation room. Automatically, the front door opened letting Martian Manhunter through.

"Hi Ethan, my name is Martian Manhunter. I'm going to read your mind to check the information you provided us if you agree." The boy nodded at the question and before his head began to be poked by one of the most powerful telepaths in that universe, a thought passed through his mind.

"You can't find out what I know about this universe." A sense of intrusion invaded him, allowing him to know that the Martian's mind was poking into his thoughts. He felt some discomfort when what could be described as a psychic battering ram struck the walls of his mental defense concerning Ethan's meta knowledge of the new universe where he was. Batman may have noticed that his partner showed some annoyance when doing the memory scan and when the test concluded he decided to start the questions.

"What did you find out, J'ohn?"

"This is truly disconcerting, the boy was right to say that his explanation was going to be laughable and impossible to believe." Martian Manhunter said. "He comes from a world where there are no heroes or people with metahuman or mistic abilities, and most disconcerting is that our universe along with each of our experiences are created by a group of writers and artists for public entertainment. We are fictional in his world." That revelation made Batman nervous for many reasons, one of them was to know that his own tragic existence along with his near-death experiences were pure fiction to entertain, another disturbing aspect was what kind of information the boy possessed about the League and each of the members who made up it at the same time he thought about what his knowledge could cause if being used by enemies.

"Were you able to know how much knowledge Ethan has about us?" The boy might notice a little concern in Batman's question and he knew he would have to share the information so as not to win the distrust of the group's most paranoid individual.

"That presented a problem, a kind of shield covered the boy's mind concerning the information of our world. It was as if he didn't want anyone to see that." That information is sufficient for Batman to look suspiciously at the boy, and he raised his hands in a sign of surrender to imply that he had no idea what was going on.

"If no one in your world has any power and there are only normal people, how come you possess psychic abilities?" Ethan swallowed saliva at that question.

"I can't give an answer because I don't know that too, just react to the threat and automatically hit Blockbuster with a psychic discharge. Perhaps my arrival here gives me powers or during the journey something in me changed." That theory left Batman meditating for a few moments, it was not a satisfactory answer but it was all they had to begin to unravel the mystery of Ethan.

"I want these questions answered sincerely there can be nothing to leave out for security reasons both yours and concerning each one of us." Ethan was sure what Batman wanted to know and had no problem following the hero's requests. "How much do you know about us? What information do you have that can be considered risky?"

"I know the identities of each member of the League to begin with, along with the identity of each of their protégés." That's enough to put the heroes in tension.

"Do you know my identity?"

"And Robin's too." The temperature of the room grew cold a few degrees and Ethan felt a chill after revealing that piece of information.

"This is a problem that you have that information is a huge risk to our security. If someone found out about you and get capture you will be the perfect weapon against us." Batman said and the martian decided to ask his own questions.

"Tell me Ethan, do you feel like you're capable of controlling your mental powers?" Martian asked and the boy meditated for a few moments.

"I'm not entirely sure, what happened during combat could have been an unconscious reaction to accessing my power to save me. I suppose I should try to control it at will." J'ohn nodded and extracted a rubber ball from his clothes to place it in the middle of the table in front of Ethan. Batman watched the exchange closely to see what results he was getting.

"I want you to focus on this object and try to manipulate it somehow." Ethan nodded and focused his mind on the ball. A thought crossed his mind as he reached out his hand forward.

'Elevate'. To the surprise of all present the sphere began to rise slowly over the table. 'I think my skills work simply by thinking an action with my mind.' Ethan thought as he ordered the object to stop on his ascent and was floating in the air.

"Impressively, you were able to channel your power at the first attempt." Manhunter said genuinely surprised. "Now try to make the object rotate." Ethan extended his hand again but a foreboding feeling forced him to try to use his mind without an extension focus.

"Spin" The rubber sphere began to rotate on itself slowly. "Faster." The rotation got faster as much as the boy wanted it to be.

"Is it normal for a psychic to be able to use his powers even though I never use them consciously?" Batman asked while watching as the boy presented some control over his powers.

"It is unusual in certain respects, but some psychics possess so much power that they are able to perform simple feats easily at first." J'ohn replied and Batman stared at the boy.

"Well Ethan, I want us to do one more test to see what your limits are." Ethan looked at the Martian carefully and thought what kind of action he wanted him to do.

"There are certain thresholds within psychic forces, you have proven to be able to implement telekinesis and unconsciously possess the potential to be a powerful telepath because of your defenses." The explanation surprised the boy, having crossed from his normal world to one full of superheroes with a clearly very powerful skill in his possession was a good way to leave him shocked and with many questions.

"What is the highest threshold within mental power? You want to find out if I have the potential to cross it, right?

"You are right, if you are able to achieve the level of manipulation I ask of you then you could be the most powerful psychic to belong to the human race." J'ohn brought the rotating sphere down with enormous effort and stopped it, as Ethan's influence was still present, to place it on the table. "I want you to try to manipulate the structure of the sphere, try to change its density, weight, make it completely altered." Those indications seemed too complicated. Batman was surprised that a psychic was able to alter matter to such an extent, if Ethan could show that level of power he had to make a careful decision regarding his stay in the world.

"Do you really think I'll be able to do that?" Ethan asked nervously and the martian simply nodded to give room for the boy to try accomplish the task.

'I don't know if I'll be able to do it, but I feel like this isn't going to be difficult.' The boy thought looking closely at the sphere as he thought how to affect it. 'Heavy' said the boy in his mind directing his influence to the ball. J'ohn opened his eyes with surprise as he sensed the change.

"Batman, try to lift the ball off the table." The Martian asked at his companion, the hero slowly approached and put his hand on the elastic material of the ball but when he tried to lift it he realized that the object was heavier than it looked and had to make an effort to take it in his hand. When it was release, the ball fell hard to the ground and the elastic material tried to bounce the object but failed.

"It's amazing, it has the texture of a rubber ball but with the weight of a cannonball." Batman said, Ethan was stunned at seeing what he had achieved.

"Try to make a new change Ethan."

"Elevate" The sphere went up and here something unexpected happened. "Fire." Ethan managed to get the sphere covered in flames. The action caused Batman to retreat with surprise and the Martian abruptly turned away when he saw his weakness so close to his person.

"Turn it off, now!" Batman ordered as Ethan watched with surprise what he had done.

"I'm sorry!" 'Restore' said Ethan and the fire that engulfed the ball was extinguished at the same time that the object fell to the ground to bounce normally.

"It's an astonishing thing a human psychic has been the first to possess a threshold of power that even martians haven't managed to pass through." J'ohn said recovering after the momentary exposure to fire.

"What level of power is that?" Batman asked and Ethan was interested as well.

"The boy is a psionic psychic, his mind is able to control the existing matter around him and manipulate it as he wishes." That revelation caused a terrible sensation in Batman. On the one hand, he was relieved that the young heroes had found the boy in Cadmus before his adversaries even knew that he was there, on the other hand that there was an individual capable of controlling everything within his reach caused panic.

'All that power in a boy so young and vulnerable.' He thought the hero looking at a surprised Ethan who was beginning to understand a little bit of the levels of power his mind possessed.

"His strength if well used could even outperform Superman in a fight or any adversary in his path, it's astonishing as unsettling." Manhunter said while approaching Ethan to put a hand on his shoulder. "You must be careful when using your power, it could be very dangerous if you don't channel it well."

"What will happen to me now?" Ethan asked and Batman approached him with a serious look.

"I think I have the answer to that question."

Mount Justice, Happy Harbor

The four young heroes who left Cadmus were located inside a cave located deep in a mountain, the interior was divided into multiple zones. A training room, a room area, a large kitchen with dining area, a room with a large computer full of information that the League collected.

The boys were sitting in front of a large screen in a rest area near what were the Z-beam transporters.

"Why do you think they brought us here?" Wally asked.

"Surely they'll subject us to some training or tell us to clean up this ancient League's base as punishment for what we did." Robin said getting the sprinter to protest for his amusement.

"I don't think so, but I'm sure we'll find out now." Kaldur said as the transporters light up warning them about incomings.

When the light of the machine went out, the young men saw the league members enter the cave along with the boy they had taken out of Cadmus.

"Ethan, it's good to see you join us!" Wally said by standing next to the boy and he gave a nervous chuckle.

"Yes, I will join you in this team." The young man said as the rest of the heroes approached.

"Psionic, will that be your code name?" Kaldur asked and the young man nodded.

"Soon they will be able to catch up, in the meantime we have to make some announcements." Batman said attracting the attention of the young. "The incident in Cadmus made us realize that the criminals became smarter, the league's own action is not enough to attack these operations so it was decided to form a parallel group to be deployed in other missions."

"True missions?" Robin asked anxiously.

"Yes, but covert. Our notoriety is a negative factor so this Team will have the surprise factor." That response made the young present happy to gain independence. "The other part of the announcement is the inclusion of two new members in the group."

"Two?" They all asked. Ethan stepped forward.

"He's talking about me." He pointed to J'ohn and from his back a young Martian with long red hair, freckles on his face, and dressed in a white shirt, a blue skirt, blue cape, and shoes. "And Manhunter's niece, Miss Martian." That revelation brought Wally closer to Robin.

"I like this more and more." He said to get close to the Martian. "Nice to meet you I am..." but before he could continue she went on laugh.

"I know who you are, you're Kid Boy, this is Robin, Aqualad, and Superboy." The young lady said. They all looked surprised at how she knew them. Ethan laughed a little at their reactions.

"I met her before I came here, she asked me a lot of things some of them about who would be with us in the group and I tell her about you." The young men laughed at the situation, except Superboy who only showed a serious look, and Wally who couldn't show up first.

"I am honored to be included in your group, I am M'egan I hope we get along." The girl said and the boys nodded at her encouragement.

"This will be excellent." Ethan said as he thought about whatt his life would become from now on by belonging to the Team.

Good to all, I decided to start this Young Justice story with an original character with amazing psychic powers. The original plot will change as Ethan participates in the missions and if you want to share with me what kind of adventures or characters they want to appear I will include them in some way. Thanks for reading.

I am thinking about doing a for mt histories, so you could tell me what characters do you want me to include and the plots to write.
