Chapter 8: Rat Land
Inside a huge palace with plants running down the walls, a large number of primates were present. Gorillas, orangutans, chimpanzees, spider monkeys, lemurs, tarsiers, among others. All dressed in European court clothing from the 18th century, composed of red jackets with large and large blue ties, white lace cuffs, dark blue shorts and white socks and some costing dust on their faces.
They were all watching humans dancing in a ballroom style. They also had eighteenth-century clothing with their faces covered in masks.
"Hehahahahahahahaha! Allegro!" One of those primates who played the piano screams. "Allegro, ladies and gentlemen, faster!" Some of the primates gave their vocals as a chorus while the one who played the piano continued to laugh like a maniac.
He wipes off a thick amount of sweat that ran down his forehead and let it drip into a small glass container while he continued to laugh.
"Dance faster!" The pianist screamed as he continued his crazy laugh causing the dancing humans to pick up the pace. "What do you say? Even faster? Okay! Hehehahahaha! Play faster!" He raises his hands and continues to increase his music speed with the human dancers doing the same with the dance.
All this dancing and music is suddenly interrupted when a loud scream is heard. It was a huge two-headed flamingo that flew into the room. With a snap of the fingers, the music stopped, allowing the dancers to catch their breath.
When the flamingo landed, the heads cut off what they were carrying. He removed the burlap sacks over their heads, turned out to be Good and Bad billions who looked around the area and set their eyes on the pianist.
"We have party rapists ... How rude ..." He clapped his hands and turned. He turned out to be a mandrel, wearing the same type of clothing as the rest of the monkeys, with a long blue bow tie around his collar and some very visible scars covering his face. That was Scarlemagne.
"Oh, the two egg heads!" He recognized the two wolves in front of him. "Have you found my new army yet?"
"Huh ..." Good billions readjusted their glasses. "The Scarlemagne palace, in reality ... I love what you did with it." The other then starts to smell the air.
"It smells like a strange perfume here" observed Bad Billions.
"This ..." Scarlemagne snapped her fingers, making all the dancers rise, lining up with each other in two villages. "I did it myself, literally, with my own pheromones." When speaking, one of the dancers fell to the floor, looking very exhausted. The mandrel brought the same glass container he used to sweat. "Don't worry, it won't work on your dogs. Just primates." He said before spraying the bottle on the dancers' faces, making him stand. "But I only use it in a certain class of primates ..." Scarlemagne removes the mask from the dancers, revealing that he was smiling and sweating nervously in fear as he rubbed his finger over his face.
"The inferiors. Even a monkey has its standards. Hehahaha. I renamed him Francis, he just learned can-can. Show them darling." The dancer did just that, showing nervousness on his face. "It never gets old ... now ..." He turns his attention to the two wolves. "Why did you make my flamingos bring you here?"
They were instantly nervous and scared and Bad Billions elbowed his brother. "Come on, man! We made rock, paper, scissors. You tell him why."
"Um... So uh..." Good billions started nervously. "Do you remember that telescope that we... Hehehe... used to have?"
"Hmmm..." Scarlemagne snarled in response, no longer liking the direction the conversation was going.
Scarlemagne was completely furious. Hitting your piano. "I lost my eyes to the city!" He shouted, frustrated, addressing some of the monkeys and dancers who were now mounted on many two-headed flamingos. "Now I need new eyes! Eyes to find the humans who have escaped this den! If there is a human, I want him to dance for me at dawn!" He gave his orders doing a spin and a dramatic pose in the process.
With the orders given, Scarlemagne's servants and slaves flew out of the palace while the chuck laughed like a maniac.
...
Back in the city, the group had woken up at sunrise. After locating the sign where Kipo saw the telescope's numbers at the observatory, they started up the ladder to the top. Kipo was ahead with Dipper right behind her, followed by Dave, who was holding Benson and Mandu, who was holding the end of Wolf's cloak.
"3.2662, if your father would leave a message, couldn't it have been something much simpler?" Asked Benson. "Like an arrow?"
"So anyone could follow him..." Kipo said as he went up there with everyone else arriving, examining the message his father had left. "No, this is perfect. It is big enough for him to know that I would see it, but only I would know it was a message."
"So, should that be coordinated or something?" Dipper asked.
"No. I have no idea." Kipo responded, still trying to figure out what that meant.
"But that must mean something to you..." Wolf pointed out. "Otherwise, we wouldn't be here."
"In light years, 3,262, it's the length of a parsec." Kipo started walking around trying to think.
"A what?" Wolf questioned in confusion.
"Parsec is an astronomical unit." Dipper blurted out. "Daddy is a science nerd, and it looks like we have another one here too." She says pointing to Dipper.
"Yes, we are aware..." Dave said as he jumped on the ledge.
"It also happens to be my birthday." Kipo spoke, making everyone look at her. "March 26 at two in the morning. That's why it was my dad's favorite number, and guess what day today is Mandu." The pig already knew the answer.
"Laundry day!" Dave did not understand while Benson. "Whoa! Kipo is your birthday today?"
"If you make my dad and I decorate the state of my calendar with balloon stickers? Yes."
"Kipo's first birthday at the top! I don't know why, but it looks great." Dave exclaimed.
"Maybe because she is lost, far from her family and friends, having to walk the dangerous surface of this apocalyptic version of the land?" Dipper thinks with a raised eyebrow, he proves that it would not be good to say that. "She was raised in a burrow most of her life, I think that must be why."
"We should leave!" Benson spoke. "For a city where things are not always open, surprisingly there is a lot to do here." Instead of getting excited, Kipo was a little sad as he sat down.
"Ugh, I can't celebrate until we find this clue ..." She then imitated her father's voice. "Kipo, the answer is in front of you. Apply."
Kipo then acted as if he were responding. "I'm trying, Dad, you know that makes it really difficult to solve."
She imitated him again. "Because challenges, build character."
"I don't need any more character! I just need to find you!"
This yields a light laugh from Dipper. "My teacher and your father would get along." Dipper noticed.
Lobo wastes no time and with the scorpion tail tip of his staff, she tears the plate, leaving Kipo's father's message unreadable for anyone else.
"Now we are the only ones who know this track and the only ones who can follow it" says Wolf with pride. "You're welcome."
"There's a word I'm looking for... Uh, what is that? Overkill!" Dave shouted as Kipo approached the painting.
"Kipo, can you find out what these numbers mean?"
"I'll try, but it will take a while. Do any of you have anything to write about?" Benson took a piece of chalk from his backpack and handed it to her. "Parsec... Parsec... Parsec..."
Dipper goes to her and starts to help her with the calculations, at that point he was no longer caring about keeping so much disguise, his interest was to help Kipo and get out of this dimension to be able to record what he lived in that place. Being 24 hours a day, 7 days a week hanging out with these kids, he had no way of recording his exploration on the tape recorder.
And so, while waiting for Kipo to find out what the numbers meant, the group was now waiting. Wolf was on the lookout while Dave played with Mandu, while Benson listened to some music.
After a while, everyone was more than bored because, over time, hours passed and Kipo with the help of Dipper, she was finishing solving the clue her father had left.
"Only one is thirteen trillion kilometers..." She then sighs in frustration. "Maybe it's how far my people are." Looking at the whole calculation, Dipper says thoughtfully. "That doesn't seem right to me, this message has to have another meaning..." With Kipo who looks at the calculation with a contemplative look.
"Kipo... you've been in this for hours!" Benson groaned. "Look, sometimes Dave and I get stuck in old crosswords, and when we get stuck, we put it aside and do something else for a while."
"Yes!" Dave woke up, and agrees with his friend. "And the answers always come." He then goes back to sleep.
"I agree with them." Dipper admitted. He then takes the chalk from her hand. "If overloading like that is dangerous and not healthy. I know this from experience!" He says, and then faces Kipo. "Today is your birthday and we should celebrate as best we can."
The other members of the group look at him with a strange look. "What? Just because I'm a little serious doesn't mean I'm against fun. Kipo, how old are you?"
"13." She replied looking at Dipper "I turned 13 while living a crazy adventure too, this can only be coincidence."
"Okay, that solves it. We have to go and celebrate. This is also a big deal, it's your first birthday on the surface. This could be the perfect time to let go." Benson said going to support Dipper and hoping to try to convince her.
"Ah, yes, totally." Dave agrees.
"I love birthdays." Kipo finally says buying the idea, then she looks at Wolf, who has been sitting in the same place all day. "When is your birthday?"
"I dont know." She replied with a shrug.
"What do you mean, you don't know? Everyone knows there's a birthday."
"Not everyone." said Wolf.
"The…" When she was about to speak, until she realized it was a sensitive subject. "Does not matter." She got up and went to her. "Well, guess what, Wolf. Today we're going to be birthday sisters. I'm going to celebrate my first surface birthday and you're going to celebrate your first birthday."
"This is a great idea!" Benson agreed with that too. "But first, you have to get gifts for each other." He picks up Kipo and takes her to the stairs with Dipper walking close behind.
"Wait... Gifts!?" Wolf didn't expect this to happen so suddenly, but it was too late that they were already leaving.
"Sure! They're the best part of birthdays!" Kipo said as he came down. "Find it here when you find something!" Suddenly, she raised her head. "Oh, I also like purple things and board games. Good luck!" She now went down leaving Wolf alone with Dave and Mandu.
"Do I get stuck with the two mutes?" She asked herself out loud and frowned. "Great..."
...
The three walked through the streets and entered what was once a pharmacy. As Benson entered, Dipper noticed that Kipo looked a little nervous looking around.
"Don't worry" He says placing a hand on her shoulder. "It's okay. Let's all be fine." Dipper said as he pointed her in, she smiled and went into the pharmacy.
"So while we're here, we'll find the perfect gift for Wolf." Kipo said summarizing why they were there while picking up an old lunch box.
"Right." Benson confirmed. "As they say, one man's trash is another man's treasure."
Dipper examined the shelves, tossing an old box of cereal aside. As they did so and Dipper was eyeing something, he noticed that Kipo looked a little disturbed.
"Something on your mind?" He asked as he continued to look through the set of things on a shelf.
"Be honest..." She said as she looked at the piles of things. "Do you think they'll be okay out there? My people?"
"Why is that question suddenly?"
"Because something is always trying to capture us, eat us, step on us..." She suddenly gasped, making her two companions walk towards her. "Or worse..." There was a small painting of a human family with the dog covered in paint with the words "Human Scum" above it.
"Sometimes you see things like that around here." Benson said. "You better ignore him." He said and continued to look through the pharmacy.
"Look, Kipo, I know that you are worried about your people and your father..." Dipper starts as he continues looking at the things left on the shelves. "But we have to remain calm and analyze the clues, there was no sign of anyone in their den, the Mega-Monkey confirmed that everyone escaped, the message on the billboard..." He then looks directly at her. "Let's find out where they are. So, for now, don't worry."
She smiled a little, becoming calmer when she heard the scientist. "Huh? Guys look!" She knelt down and saw something on the pile.
"Wow..." Benson knelt beside her. "This is... uh... treasure... all right." He said laughing nervously.
"This is." She ignored what he said and bent down to pick it up. "It's the perfect gift for Wolf."
"Mission Accomplished." Kipo said while everyone left the pharmacy. "Just before expected. Where now?"
"There's something I want to show you..." Benson said, pulling out his backpack and opening it, pulling out a metal can. "It's my gift, for you."
"Canned cheese?" Kipo was confused, as was Dipper, as he leaned over to read the label. "Made with twelve percent real fuss. What is it made of?" She wondered before changing her mind. "You know what, it doesn't matter. I love it."
Benson laughed at that. "Haha, oh look at your face. Tha-that's not it ..." He advanced. "The real gift is much better, come on."
...
Elsewhere, Wolf was looking around the city with Mandu and Dave. Even if she wasn't happy to be with the two Mutes, or for all that birthday history, she was still willing to try. Since Kipo was her first real friend, along with Dipper, despite the latter she has some suspicions about her real origin.
"Aha! Yes!" Dave took the car cover. "See what I found!" He showed it to the young survivor.
"Boom! Nailed! It could be a hat, it could be a frisbee, Kipo loves fashion, hell Kipo loves fun. Frisbee?"
"Frisbee?" She had never heard of one before, nor did she and the insect know what he was holding.
"Yes! Check it out!" He played like a Frisbee that Mandu tried to catch him, but she missed. Instead, he broke a glass with a loud noise. Then, a noise was heard in the distance, putting Wolf on alert, preparing to fight. Fortunately, he was not around.
"The next time you ring the dinner bell, I'm done with you, Mute!" She said firmly. "From now on... This..." She used the bottom end of her team to draw a circle around her. "This is a mute-free zone." Despite being a mute, Mandu sat down, looking furiously at the insect.
"Oh yes?" Dave took this as a challenge from the girl. "Well, this is a wolf-free zone. No wolf is allowed around here..." When he bent to draw a circle, he made a wrong turn and fell on his back painfully.
"I can live with that." Wolf didn't care and continued walking with Mandu beside her. The insect rose to its feet and continued to follow them.
"What kind of gift are we looking for, anyway?" Dave asked.
"I will know when I see." She answered.
"Oh! Going with your gut, I like that. That's how I interpret it."
...
The other trio was walking down a narrow alley. "Benson, where are you taking us?" Dipper questioned walking behind Kipo while the friend in question was leading, leading the way.
"Hey, trust me..." He looked at them. "This will be cool." They entered a small clearing that clearly showed that it was some kind of suburban apartment area with a few crooked railings and plants everywhere, as was already the custom in the city.
"Oh wow... it's so..." She stopped when she saw the words Human Surrender sprayed on a nearby wall. "Festive..."
"Sometimes on the surface, it's more than you see on the surface." Benson said, grabbing Kipo's hand safely, holding the cheese can in the other. He then moved on and knelt, shaking the can and spraying the contents into a small, rotating tower.
Dipper and Kipo were completely confused by what Bneson was doing. "They should be here anytime." Suddenly, they heard the sound of an engine running, making them look to see a speeding van turning over and screaming, stopping. Despite having rust, it seemed that the vehicle was still working, generating a stare on the part of Dipper "It is the first functional vehicle I have seen so far." he thinks, with the lights on and everything, there was also a fake mouse tail attached to the end.
The driver's side door opened slightly and a hand reached the city, taking a finger from what Benson sprayed onto the floor. When the door closed, the van's side door opened on its own.
"You are expecting a carriage, birthday girl." Benson motioned for her to enter. She did just that, followed by Benson, the two stared at Dipper who was standing with contemplative eyes. "You are not coming." taking the adult out of his trance and finally getting him in.
After putting on the seat belts, they were out. The interior was a little messy and there were a few small stains on the windows, which probably covered what damaged what the glass held. There were also different types of cheese hanging inside.
The driver was also a mute-mouse. He had black and white spotted fur with pink ears, nose, hands, feet and tail, he wore a lime green vest and a baseball hat, including a pair of shades. After they started to leave, there was silence and Kipo was a little nervous.
"So..." Kipo spoke, breaking the silence. "Our friend here isn't going to tell me, because that should be a surprise, but. Where are you taking us?" The driver made a sharp turn, making Kipo bump into Dipper who didn't even move with the impact, he seemed very calm with the situation.
Kipo then started to panic when he saw that they were approaching a brick wall.
"A wall! Wall!" She screamed in fear and closed her eyes, placing her hand and putting her hands in front of her face, like a protective instinct for a possible accident. However, there was no collision, instead, the driver blew the horn and the wall opened in two, the car spun in a sudden stop, the wall then closed just behind them.
The rat driver took off his sunglasses, revealing his magneto-colored eyes.
"Bonjuer you and Je m'appelle Amy." The mouse greeted him, revealing that it was her. "This is French, my name is Amy." The front part of the panel opened, revealing another mouse, only that it had black fur with colored eyes corresponding to its companion and also wore the same uniform as Amy.
"Holla! And Yen arboretum venitos. I'm Brad." The black rat greeted closing the dashboard before he was leaving the hood of the van, while Amy got out of the driver's side and opened the side door. next to Brad.
"Welcome to the Land of Rats!" Amy said, pointing to the new location, in front of the group there was nothing more than an amusement park! There were lights, vendors, different sidewalks, and there were even fire jobs going off!
There was no way for Dipper to widen his children any more in pure shock. Never would he expect there to be a functional park in this world. It was possible that Kipo shared the same astonishment, only that she was more excited.
"See, I told you it was good." Benson said walking beside them.
"This is not good..." Kipo said before hugging him. "Benson, thank you very much! Thank you, thank you, thank you!"
"Hehe, don't worry. Happy birthday." He said he was free of his embrace and approached Dipper. "Can I speak to you for a minute in private?"
The scientist nodded, they moved a good distance away from Kipo, who looked around happily.
"Benson, I need to tell you something before ..." Dipper starts but is soon interrupted.
"The rats made this place a safe area. So, we'll be fine." He says before the adult asks.
"Okay, so what is it?"
"I was trying to show this place to Kipo for a while now, with you and wolf always together I thought that would make things difficult."
"Why exactly?" Dipper asks confused. "Why? You guys seem to be against fun, no offense."
"No taking, but you're right, I'm just accepting this because it's Kipo's birthday."
"Great, let's try to take this opportunity and relax a little. Here, nobody is going to attack us for being human." Benson reassures himself.
Dipper sighs "Very well, you two are going to have fun."
Benson gives him a confused look. Realizing this, the centrist explains himself. "You two seem to be in a similar age range, it's more than natural that you should show her the place."
"But and you?" Benson asks.
"I'm going to walk around the place, we have our meeting place, I'll be fine, don't worry." This did not seem to convince Benson.
"I just have ... a few issues to resolve." He finally responds.
Seeing that trying to convince him would be a losing battle, Benson sighs and nods in confirmation.
…
Wolf and his two fellow mutes were still on the hunt ... for a presence for Kipo, they met at the clothing store, looking for something the purple-skinned girl might like. Mandu was on the lookout and noticed one of Scarlemagne's two-headed flamingos flying through the air.
With fear and concern, she ran to Wolf, who was looking through his clothes.
"Aha!" She takes out a small medallion. "This is perfect!" Mandu came to her trying to tell the young survivor the worrying news. But since she couldn't speak, Wolf didn't understand, and he just didn't seem to care about the mute. "Not a pig now. I'm busy." The dressing room curtain opened, revealing Dave.
"What did you get?" The very bug questioned.
"It's uh ... an apple!" Wolf started to spin it in the air. "Saw?" But the necklace breaks. "This was not the right gift anyway." She threw the rope away.
"Well, I found the greatest gift ever." Dave said, encouraging Wolf's interest, He pulls the curtain and then re shows up revealing that he was wearing a studded leather jacket. "I mean, we still need to look for Kipo ..."
"That's it!" Wolf was excited to see him. "It's like the one she liked in Cactus Town! It's perfect!" Dave went to the mirror to check on him, giving the entertainer that he wanted to keep the jacket. "We have to give it to her." Wolf says angrily in his voice.
"Who made you jacket chief?" Dave asked.
"Okay... As long as you found it, you can use it... But then I'm going to get you out, one way or the other..."
"Only as long as you don't enter the Free Zone of Wolf." Dave mumbled while Mandu was pulling on the end of the girl's cloak trying to warn her, but she didn't understand the mute pig.
"What happened?" Wolf asked, already bored. "Is every Mute so annoying?"
"Hey! I am offended by this!" Dave exclaimed when a crack was heard and it became his form of combat, tearing his jacket to pieces in the process. "Oops..." He realized he had screwed up.
"You are really useless! Mute..." Wolf said before leaving in anger.
"You know what I think... I think this girl doesn't really like Mutes. Because I'm full of utilities." Dave commented.
…
Dipper couldn't lie to himself, he had created a feeling of protection with those kids… and mutes, even though he knew it was against one of the rules that he and his Grunkle had imposed under dimensional travel: Don't interfere with the dimension you are in - it was so simple, but Dipper's awareness couldn't just let him abandon Kipo when she needed support the most.
It didn't help that the girl reminded her of Mabel, her twin sister that the last summer she spent at gravity falls, when the two were still teenagers; they both put off a fight and practically severed ties altogether.
Of course, Dipper did not want this, he wanted his sister and them to continue getting along and for her to understand her dreams and reasons for doing what he did, but as she seemed to be against him living his dream, it would be better if they both depart.
The young scientist had considered this some kind of addiction problem that he had, although he thought he overcame it during his training with Ford, but still he could not escape this feeling of something missing, an important piece in his adventures.
Kipo had filled this space perfectly, she was excited, she saw the good in things and others, someone who fights for what she believes in, and she was also smart, Grunckle Ford would definitely like to meet her and possibly her father.
Another thing that bothered him was lying to the group, but with what he could just say he was from another dimension and came to this with a mission, they would think he was crazy, despite having already realized that Wolf suspected about his origins.
Lost in his thoughts Dipper had not realized that he had distanced himself from the park, it is as if he automatically headed for his destination, the outdoor torn by wolf.
He finally got out of his trance when he heard a loud sound, he runs and hides behind a car, the night was very well lit by the moon, and in front of him he saw a huge hummingbird wearing a jacket as if you were a motorcycle gang, he had a belt that went over his shoulder, in that belt there were capsules with a liquid inside.
The creature seemed to be so immersed in his thoughts when Dipper a few seconds ago, so much so that he seemed to have noticed the human, the hummingbird was talking to himself "Find the burrow girl and live calm and without worries for the rest of your life, easy!"
"So they put a price on Kipo's head, that was to be expected..." The scientist thinks, he looks around looking for signs of another member of the Mute group, no sign of anyone else.
The scientist observes the mute while talking to himself "With these nectar bombs ..." the mute says, handling one of the capsules. "...they didn't even know what hit them!"
Dipper could only sigh with the tute of the mute "He looks like a cartoon villain ..." The scientist takes advantage of how distracted the mutant bird was, he picks up a stone and throws it towards the shop in ruins just behind him, a sound metal and something falling echoes from inside the store, which scares the hummingbird.
The mute turns and walks slowly into the store, Dipper walks around the car, and grabs a piece of pipe on the floor, when mute finally enters the store, the scientist steps forward and attacks him from behind, a blow to the back of the head of the bird that makes him fall.
Dipper quickly grabs it so that his body prevents it from falling so suddenly, the scientist then slowly places it on the ground and searches the bird's body.
In addition to the bombs, there was nothing more interesting. He drags the bird and places it in a corner of the room; he throws some of the broken objects from the store over the body, hiding it.
Only then did he realize he was in a music store, "This is perfect ..." He looks for something to give the group's birthdays, the instruments were destroyed or too worn out for use.
Searching the place further, he finds two perfect objects to give as a gift.
…
"We need to find another gift..." Wolf says in complete defeat, after all, the perfect gift had been destroyed by an idiot mute.
"We can always go back to the hub cap," suggested Dave. "I will consider counting, Kipo is both of us."
"What was the name of that store where you found it?"
"I don't know, something breaks. Oh!" He remembered the name. "Parts Etc. Check your mind, sharp."
"Clear!"
They made their way back and Wolf noticed something on the sign, two T's were missing and spelled a different word.
"P... A... R... S... E... C. Parsec..." Wolf realized that this was what Kipo's father wanted her to find. "Dave, you're a gen..." She broke off before saying the word, she took a look at the insect. "Uh, I mean, great job mut ... Well, good job. Dave, job."
"I didn't follow a word of it." He said shaking his head.
"We finished looking! We already found Kipo's gift!" She then realizes that someone in the group was missing. "Where's Mandu?" The pig was scarred standing right next to a car and dashed right underneath it. From above, she noticed that there were two of Scarlemagne's nobles in the air, riding the two-headed flamingos.
As Dave prepares to fly, he lets out a cry of pain and changes into his older form.
"It's like realizing that its uses make you not useful." Wolf said frustratedly, before dragging the insect in its old form to hide inside the store.
"Uh ... did you see anything down here?" An orangutan wearing makeup asked.
"Do you doubt my eyes?" Her companion, a Tarsier asked as they removed her mask from holding in front of her face, revealing her two huge eyes.
From inside, she could hear the conversation between the two primates. "It must be my imagination," said the tassier. "Do you want to move on?"
"Yes, this place is dead anyway." The orangutan said before they left for air, allowing them to leave their hiding place.
"Who is he calling dead? I'm alive," says old Dave.
Wolf heads to the store again and calls. "Hello? Kipo's father? Are you here?" She screamed, but got no answer as Dave bumped into a mop. As he was having an illusory moment, Wolf noticed something standing out. It was the letter T on the outside of the sign and they were crossed out like an X. With the utmost interest, she pushed it away and an envelope with a purple symbol was revealed.
"What is it?" Dave asked walking over to her. "Where are we, too?"
"It's a ram's head." Lobo replies, after hearing Kipo talking about the stars so much, he couldn't help but recognize. "This is Kipo's birth sign, Aries." Turning it over, she opened it and read what appeared to be a message: "Kipo, this will help you find the second clover. Love dad."
"Someone drew spaghetti on the back." The old insect pointed, turning it to see the back of the letter, there was written the numbers 3262 as on the plate, as well as other symbols that were probably other clues.
"It's a map, Grandpa. A map for the second roundabout. Which means... the people at Kipo have a second hole."
"Oh my God! This is the perfect gift. I bet she'll be very happy. She'll finally be able to go back underground with her mole people and forget that we ever existed." Dave said. "I will always remember her." One of his antennae fell, making her sigh and she looked back at the map, hearing the insect's words left her conflicted.
...
Dipper meets Wolf, Dave and Mandu on the way back to their meeting place, the surviving girl had a look of confusion and mild annoyance about it.
"Shouldn't you be with Kipo and Benson?" Before the scientist had a chance to answer, she asked one more question, this time in a more angry tone. "And what is that? Did you steal from the Humming Bombers?!"
"So this is the name of this group?" He answers the girl with another question, she frowns even more at the adult.
"Okay, calm down. I ran into one of them, I tricked him and attacked from behind..." He then points to the bombs stuck in the cyst. "And I took the opportunity to point this out, if necessary. Don't worry, I took precautions not to be followed." That didn't seem to convince the smaller girl, but she didn't say anything else for the rest of the walk.
...
After they regrouped on the plate, Benson went to look after Dave, who had transformed into his baby form. As for Kipo, she explained to Dipper and Wolf about the attack that happened in the park, and about her confronting one of Scarlemagne's soldiers.
"I saw those Flamingo pilots." said Wolf. "Maybe that's why Scarlemagne is after his people. I think he wants to make them more of those noble strangers."
This netted Dipper's raised eyebrow, who spoke. "I also clashed, it was with a Humming Bomber, and he said something about a reward for anyone who captures you Kipo." This made the girl a little more scared. Dipper then continued. "Now we know why he is targeting human beings. This Scarlemagne wants to enslave human beings and use them as entertainment for him."
"Even my father?" Kipo asked sadly.
"Now we have even more reasons to find your people, preferably before the scarlemagne itself." Dipper said, with the rest of the group agreeing.
Kipo shook his head to calm himself. "Okay! Present time!" His mood shifted. "This should be our anniversary." She reaches into her pocket and they both have their hands behind their backs.
Wolf suddenly cringed when he saw how Kipo was touching her. But then she received her gift, it was a pink flower hair clip. "Because, I notice that whenever you fight, your hair stays in your eyes." Said Kipo.
"Yeah..." Wolf didn't expect her to notice the problem and solve the problem. "Useful. Thank you."
"Your turn, twin birthday!" Kipo said anxiously.
"Uh..." She takes her present, which was left from the jacket that Dave tore.
"Aah... It's the jacket, I like it." She slides the sleeve on her right arm. "I love it. Thank you." It starts to flex a little bit.
"I have something for you too." Dipper entered the conversation, pulling two boxes from his coat and handing it to the two girls.
Wolf looked confused. "What am I supposed to do with a box?" Dipper had forgotten that she had never celebrated a birthday in her life. "Is in the box."
Kipo let Wolf open his gift first, it was brass knuckles, much to the group's amazement. "I hope I don't have to explain what that is, either."
"No." says wolf punching the air. "I like it. Thank you" She simply tells the scientist to nod in response.
Kipo gasped in surprise as he opened hers. "Dipper, where did you get these gifts?" She speaks looking at hers; it was a personalized palette, purple with black details, making it look like the face of a jaguar.
"I found them both present during my walk, I passed by some destroyed stores and there they were, too convenient if you ask me." He says, changing the facts a little.
Kipo hugs Dipper in response, he takes advantage of the situation to apologize. "I'm sorry to have left you in the park, if I knew what would happen ..."
"No need to apologize." She says reassuring her friend.
"Sweet!" Benson walking towards the rest of the group, while holding Dave, who was now a child again. "A trash or trash man ..."
"... It's another fashion statement for girls!" Kipo ends the sentence.
"I don't know about the three of you, but I'm ready to break that track again." She walks up the stairs. "Actually, I feel like walking. It's nice to know that it's always deadly on the surface." She said before going down while the others were walking down the stairs.
Lobo was the last to join them and brought the letter that Kipo's father had left for her. She was very conflicted now and didn't know if she wanted to show it to him or not. With a sigh, she knelt down to pick up her weapon. As he did so, the young survivor heard an angry snort.
It was Mandu looking at her. The pig might not speak, but his gaze said everything, she wanted to know why Wolf didn't give Kipo the map and why she was hiding it from her friend.
"What are you looking at?" With a grunt, she descended the stairs leaving Mandu angrily behind.
And here we are again, this chapter took a long time to be released for a particular reason: Online classes - which are consuming a lot of my time lately.
I don't think I need to explain much given the global situation regarding you know what (it looks like I'm talking about Voldemort), anyway, because of that I can't promise how often I will update the story. All I can confirm is: I will continue the story, that's for sure.
Another thing I have in mind is an idea for a new story, I'm still wondering whether or not to write, but I already have a project done, it's a crossover of Gravity Falls, Earthbound and Hunter x Hunter (the crossover category just let me select two of them, how do I select three?)
Anyway, rate the chapter, Follow/Fav if you want to follow the story and comment what you think of the chapter, also comment on my idea of crossover.
Until next time! Or not.
