A/N - This was found in one of my notebooks, having been mostly written in 2016 (during the Summer Euro tournament)... A nice fluffy piece of Harmony that I wrote which I never got to upload before. This was one of the few fluffy pieces I wrote when I wasn't getting drunk during the football, or wallowing in my self pity. If anyone wants to adopt this, feel free, I'm not stopping you... Just make sure you credit me. Contains text from Goblet of Fire

A whole crowd of merpeople was floating in front of the houses that lined what looked like a mer-version of a village square. A choir of merpeople was singing in the middle, calling the champions toward them, and behind them rose a crude sort of statue; a gigantic merperson formed from a boulder. Four people were bound tightly to the tail of the stone merperson.

Ron was tied between Hermione and Cho Chang. There was also a girl who looked no older than eight, whose clouds of silvery hair made Harry feel sure that she was Fleur Delacour's sister. All four of them appeared to be in a very deep sleep. Their heads were lolling onto their shoulders, and fine streams of bubbles kept issuing from their mouths.

Seeing Hermione bound to the stone merperson, Harry realised that she was what he would miss the most, not Ron, not his Firebolt and not the photo album of his parents. Hermione.

'If I hadn't been daft enough to see now what I should have realised ages ago, I could have took her to the Ball.' he thought, swimming up to where she was. 'She stood up for me when Ron abandoned me. She helped me save Sirius from getting executed. I...I took her for granted and I shouldn't have.'

As he reached Hermione, he could feel several pairs of strong grey hands seizing him. Half a dozen mermen were pulling him away from Hermione, shaking their green-haired heads, and laughing.

"You take your own hostage," one of them said to him. "Leave the others..."

"No way!" said Harry furiously, but only two large bubbles came out.

"Your task is to retrieve your own friend...leave the others..."

"She's my friend. I love her." Harry yelled, gesturing toward Hermione, an enormous silver bubble emerging soundlessly from his lips. "And I don't want her to die."

Harry struggled to fight off the mermen, but they laughed harder than ever, holding him back. Suddenly a bright light came from was confused. Had he done accidental magic? He knew none of the other champions were around.

He could see the mermen swimming away from him, and he knew that he had only one chance. He ignored Ron as he concentrated getting Hermione out of her binds, his realisation that he loved her helping him. Grabbing the knife from its holder, he cut the seaweed that was tied around her, and then kissed her on the cheeks.

'Whatever happens Hermione, I...I love you.'

Swimming back up to the shore, Hermione in his one arm whilst he used the other for propulsion, he saw a shark-man heading in the opposite direction. He appeared to have transfigured himself — but badly!

Eventually the two broke water, and Hermione started coughing.

"Hermione. Are you alright?" Harry asked, a look of concern on his face.

When she confirmed to him that she was feeling better, they swam towards a boat that was in the lake. As they got in, Harry took Hermiones hands and looked at her.

"Harry," Hermione asked, seeing he was looking a bit down. "What's up? Wheres Ron?"

Harry looked at Hermione and, knowing that he was not too good with emotions, started stuttering. "I...I...I could only take one hostage back with me," he said, looking downwards. "So I took you."

Hermione loosened her hands from Harry's gentle hold and, with her fingers, lifting his head to look at her.

"Me...an ugly know it all bookworm? I thought Ron was your best friend?"

Harry looked at her, his eyes watering, "Ron may be my best friend. But he is not the thing I would miss the most. You are."

Hermione was shocked. Harry had effectively told her that he had feelings for her.

"Since...since when?" she asked him, reaching for his hand.

"I...I realised that I loved you when you were in the lake, but I realised I should...I should have asked you to the Yule Ball. You were the only one who believed in me after the names of the Champions were drawn out. You were the only one who helped me save Sirius. I...I just can't imagine-"

Hermione had placed a finger on his mouth. "Shush," she said, looking at the boy she had realised ages ago she had feelings for. "You had the whole world on your shoulders. Its understandable."

Leaning forward, she kissed him. As Harry started to return the kiss, he could hear cheering from the lakeside. Coming apart, they looked towards the shore, where Cedric Diggory had returned to the lakeside with Cho Chang.

Harry looked at Hermione and smiled. "I don't care about winning, as long as I've got you."

Hope you enjoyed that.
