First of all, Sorry to all my readers from my previous stories. I wrote those stories back when I was younger and looking back on them I half-assed them. This fanfic is something I've been planning on doing for a while but I hate writing duels. I'll probably turn this into a One-Shot and release an entire script detailing the plot lines of how I wanted this whole thing to go. I decided to post this today since I and Yugi share a birthday lol.
I plan on getting back into writing. I got two other stories in the work. One is an Attack on Titan 2 Novelization (I bought the two choose your own adventure novels so I could work the choices in the story better with the basic game plot). The next story being a Fate/EXTRA x Fate/Grand Order story
IMPOSSIBLE!
THIS IS IMPOSSIBLE!
The colossal dragon shouted in a thunderous roar. The surrounding buildings shook from its might. But the duelist in front of him continued to stand, unfazed by his action
WHY CAN'T I DEFEAT YOU ******?!
"Who knows, at any rate, have you considering stopping all this. It's not to la-"
SHUT IT!
The force of his yell pushed the duelist back a few feet. He frowned feeling disappointed.
ONCE MORE, WE'LL DUEL UNTIL I ANNIHILATE YOU!
The duelist sighed and begrudgingly prepared himself once more for the next round.
"Just a bit longer and they'll be ready." he thought.
He switched his decks out and readied his duel disk.
"Alright fine, I'll duel against you until my body gives up ****!"
"Ugh…"
The young man sitting in front of the train lazily woke up. He looked out the window at his right taking notice of his reflection. The image of a young boy with brown hair topped off by a red hat with goggles on top. He was clad in a red coat with a black undershirt, blue pants, and brown shoes.
~We have now arrived at Maiami City~
The announcement from the broke the boy out of his daze.
"Finally."
The young boy put on his backpack and carried his trunk as he made his way toward the exit doors. As he arrived at the terminal he was identified at the terminal.
"Let's see here…"
Name: Konami Kodo
Age: 14
Duel School Affiliation: None
He continued to read through my profile up to a certain point.
Duel Record…
The security guard took a glance at the young boy. He had a slight smile on his face as he looked back to him. "that's pretty impressive kid, 59 consecutive duels without a single lose, I'm guessing you're here to take part in the Maiami City Championship?"
The boy nodded his head in embarrassment "Yeah, I was invited to Maiami City by Nico Smiley to participate in the Championship."
"I see, at any rate, everything checks out. Let me be the first to welcome you into Maiami City. I hope you do great at the championships." the security guard extended out his hand to him.
In response to his positive attitude, Konami's smile widens as he shook his hand. Upon his exit from the station, he decided to walk aimlessly around the city. We was supposed to meet up with Nico at the station but he had arrived exactly three hours ahead of time and thus decided to sightsee a bit.
The landscape looked beautiful, the city itself gave off the feelings of peace and tranquility. Though he could spot one distinguished landmark that didn't quite mesh well with the rest of the scenery.
"If I remember correctly, that's…
Leo Corporation
A large tower which was both the headquarters of the Leo Corporation and the home to the Leo Duel School aka LDS, the world's most prestigious Duel School. LDS was home to many duelists who could specialize in either use Ritual, Fusion, Synchro, or XYZ summoning methods.
"Well, it's not like it matters much anyway." He mused. However, Konami quickly brushed the thought aside as he continued his walk through the city.
As Konami continued his aimless walk the streets of Maiami City. He continued silently admiring the sites of the city. As he reached the end of the sidewalk he mindless turned the corner-
*BUMP*
The collision knocked him down. "O-ow." he heard. As he got he noticed a young girl on the ground rubbing her forehead. She has blue eyes and dark pink hair. She had on a sleeveless light-blue and white shirt as well as a maroon skirt. Topped off with dark stockings, and pink sneakers.
Her face, somehow looked familiar?
"Sorry about that, are you alright?"
The boy extended her hand to the girl on the ground. She accepted.
"Y-yeah, I'm fine. It was my fault anyway."
As he helped her off the ground he couldn't help but feel like there was something nostalgic about this girl.
"Please excuse me I'm in an at the moment hurry!" The girl gave a quick bow as she ran off. I couldn't help but wonder what had her in such a hurry.
"Hmm…" If Konami had to guess he's been walking around the city for a bit longer than a half-hour. He'd said he have about an hour and a half left until he had to meet up with Nico Smiley.
Letting his interest get the better of him he decided to follow the young girl.
"I ended up at the harbor, huh." Following the pink-haired girl ended up putting me in an odd location. I was definitely gonna end up late when I meet up with Nico. Whatever I'll just apologize when I see him.
*sigh* I took a look around noticing nothing but warehouses
"Duel me!"
Oh a voice. Konami walked into the warehouse where the voice came from.
"Huh, Me duel against the likes of you?" said the blond-haired boy. There were other kids around him too all in the same uniform.
"Do you really think me, a top LDS student, would face off against a no-name duelist like yourself? I refuse."
"LDS?" I thought. "If he's a part of that school that means he should be a good duelist right."
"Ha, aren't you just scared of losing?" The pink-haired mouthed back.
"Huh, you want to repeat that do you really think-" He stopped talking for a moment as his eyes trailed off. "Who are you?"
All eyes in the room trailed looked back to my location.
Ah, I've been noticed me. Well it's not like I was hiding, I was just standing in front of the entrance after all.
"You're-" Seems the girl from before recognized me. "Why are you here?"
"By chance." Honestly it's because I followed you is what Konami would like to say but that sounded too creepy.
"Hoh, I see… I see… so you brought a stranger to come duel for you Hiragi Yuzu?"
So that's her name.
"NO! I didn't I honestly have no idea why this guy is here."
From there those two started to get into an argument about me. I didn't care to much about it though.
I took off my backpack, unzipping it and pulling out the duel disk strapping it to my arm.
*CLICK*
"Huh!" At the sound of my duel disk starting up everyone turned their eyes back to my direction.
"Wanna duel?" I asked.
"What's that!? Do you even know what you're asking, you no name!? I'm the great Sawatari Shingo, LDS's finest duelist!"
My eyes lit up for a moment. "That true?" I asked again this time looking at Yuzu.
"It's not, he's just some arrogant third-rate, no fourth-rate duelist." She responded, her statements antagonizing Sawatari further. "But that's not important at all, this is my duel. I don't need help from some guy I bumped into!"
Konami clapped his hands together and bowed his head slightly. "Sorry for interrupting! But since I'm here I thought this would be a nice way to kill some time."
Yuzu was shocked at that statement. She couldn't understand this guy. He came here to kill time? That's stupid he didn't half to come all the way here to waste time.
Konami turned back to face Sawatari.
"Well, we gonna duel or what, you're one of LDS finest duelists right? Then please show me the difference in our skills." Konami asked wholeheartedly.
"Hmph! Alright you no name I'll show you the difference between a great duelist such as myself and you."
[Duel]
Konami Kudo - LP: 4000
Shingo Sawatari - LP: 4000
"As the challenger, I'll take the first turn," Konami stated. "I activate Pot of Greed which allows me to draw two more cards. Next, I summon Double Coston (Dark/Zombie/Effect/ATK: 1700/ DEF: 1650) and place two cards face down.
Sawatari scoffed.
"Keke, that was a pretty disappointing opening move you had there. If that's all you're capable of then this duel is gonna be a walk in the for the great New Sawatari.
Konami didn't react. He just kept a stoic face with his perpetual smile.
"Then I'll be looking forward to your turn then Sawatari."
"Of course, I'll show you how a real pro duelist battles." Sawatari declared confidently. "It's my turn! Draw!"
Sawatari grinned.
"It seems that fortune has smiled upon me. Since my opponent has two face-down cards, I can Special Summon Escher the Frost Vassal (Water/Aqua/Effect/ATK: 800/DEF: 1000/ LV: 3) from my hand."
A warrior with ice armor appeared, sitting cross-legged.
"Now, I release Escher to Advance Summon Mobius, the Frost Monarch (Water/Aqua/Effect/ATK: 2400/DEF: 1000/LV: 6) in attack mode!"
Escher disappeared as a towering warrior with pure white armor took its place.
"Eh, so you use a Monarch deck Sawatari?"
"That's right now, now I'll show you the difference between you and a top duelist such as myself! I activate Mobius's effect!" Sawatari declared gleefully. "When this card is Advanced Summoned, I can destroy up to two Spell or Trap Cards on the field, which means that your face-downs are done for! Go, Mobius! Freeze Burst!"
"I activate my Trap Card Breakthrough Skill, I target Mobius, the Frost Monarch negating its effects until the end of the turn.
"Damn it. Then I'll activate I activate the Spell Card, Advance Carnival from my hand. If I Advanced Summoned this turn, this card allows me to Advance Summon once more! I release Mobius to bring forth Mobius, the Mega Monarch (Water/Aqua/Effect/ATK: 2800/DEF: 1000/LV: 8)!"
Mobius disappeared and was replaced with an evolved version of itself.
"Normally, I would need two tributes to summon Mobius, the Mega Monarch," Sawatari explained. "However, I can Advance Summon it by tributing one other Advanced Summoned Monster. And now, it's effect activates. When this monster is Tribute Summoned by using a Tribute Summoned monster, I can target up to 3 Spell or Trap Cards on the field, additional since A Water monster was used to tribute summon this card my opponent cannot activate the targeted cards in response to this monster's effect. Go, Blizzard Destruction."
"From my hand, I activate Effect Veiler. During my opponent's Main Phase I can send this card from my hand to Graveyard to negate the effect of 1 of your monsters. Naturally, the monster's effect I'm negating is your Mobius."
"Damn it. Negated again." Sawatari scowled observing the field. "It looks like that face down of your is pretty important for you to go through all that effort of protecting it. However, that won't stop me from attacking you."
"Go Mobius, destroy his Double Coston. Imperial Charge!"
At that moment Konami's smile widened.
"I activate my 2nd trap card Sakuretsu Armor. When my opponent's monster declares an attack, I target that attacking Monster and destroy it.
"What?!" Sawatari exclaimed. His monster overwhelmed by the effect the Konami's trap card. His field was now empty.
"A-ah." Sawatari gaped. His entire turn was laid to waste. The red-hatted duelist in front of him countered every one of his moves. "I-I place two cards face down and end my turn."
"Then it's my turn. Draw. I activate Cards of Sanctity, both of us draw until they have 6 cards in their hand.
"Eh!" Both Yuzu and Sawatari exclaimed the former not as excited as the latter.
Konami drew his card nonchalantly then turned to face Sawatari.
"What's the matter, hurry up, and draw your cards."
"Just hold on a minute! What are you doing letting him refuel his hand like that?"
"It's fine, It's fine. Just watch Yuzu. I'll end things this turn."
Yuzu was clearly irritated. Despite Konami having the field advantage at the moment, she was worried that Konami gave Sawatari the cards necessary to change the outcome of the duel.
"Hmph, getting a little cocky aren't you Red Hat? Well, it's too late for him to do anything about his mistake now Hiragi Yuzu." Sawatari drew 6 cards from his deck and gleamed.
"Perfect. My face downs are Mirror Force and The First Monarch and with this hand I can definitely turn this duel around on my next turn." Glancing at Konami "I'll definitely make you humiliating me last turn Red Hat."
"Next from my hand, I'll play the Spell Card Double Summon allowing me to conduct two Normal Summons this turn. Now I'll summon Goblindbergh (Earth/Warrior/Effect/ATK: 1400/DEF: 0/ LV: 4). When this card is normal summoned I can special summon one level 4 or lower monster from my hand Show your self Dragonpulse Magician (Earth/Spellcaster/Pendulum/ATK: 1800/DEF: 900/ LV: 4/SC: 1).
Goblindbergh is now switched to defense mode.
Next, I'll be making use of Double Coston effect allowing me to use it as two Tributes for the Advance Summon of a Dark monster. I release Double Coston to Advance Summon from my hand Odd-Eyes Dragon (Dark/Dragon/Effect/ATK: 2500/DEF: 2000/LV: 7)!"
"EHHHH!" Everyone in the warehouse exclaimed (sans Konami).
Needless to say, Sawatari's goons were shocked at the sudden appearance of Yuya's ace monster. Meanwhile, Yuzu was gazing at Konami with an astonished expression.
"But that monster is Yuya's card, just who are you?" Yuzu asked
"Odd-Eyes Dragon, don't tell me, you're in league with Sakaki Yuya!" Sawatari accused.
"Sakaki Yuya… I don't know who that is?" Konami paused. "Is he a friend of yours Sawatari?"
"Of course not that despicable cheat with his pendulums is no way a friend of mine."
"I see, but I wouldn't get shocked just yet. I'll be activating my Spell Card Heavy Storm!"
"Heavy Storm?"
"Yeah, this fantastic card destroys all spell and trap cards on the field," Konami replied
A typhoon materialized on the field and ripped Sawatari's cards to shreds revealing the trap cards Mirror Force and First Monarch.
"N-no way!"
"With that, you're wide open Sawatari, my Dragonpulse Magician and Odd-Eyes Dragon attack you directly." The magician and dragon with heteromorphic eyes fired twin-beam at Sawatari wiping out his life points.

Konami Kudo Wins
"Sawatari-san" his lackeys called out.
"It's my win, thanks for the duel." Konami cheerfully stated as he disengaged his duel disk
"D-damn, there's no way I lost, you must have cheated, yeah that's it." Sawatari ranted pointing his finger at Konami. Konami in return responded with a blank stare. His smile was gone.
"I didn't cheat Sawatari, that duel was the result of your desire to rush to victory. If you consider yourself a real duelist then accept your loss and improve from them."
"Ghh…uughh," Sawatari grumbled, Konami having nothing left to say walked away. He grabbed a hold of his trunk and left the warehouse.
"Wait a moment!" Konami stopped in his tracks. He turned back to face the voice that called out to him.
Yuzu Hiragi. From her exhausted expression, it seems that she chased me down.
"Hm… Need something?" responding with a curious look. Yuzu who was currently panting shot a glare at me.
"Did I do something wrong?" Konami thought
"Where did you get that card?!"
"What card?"
"Don't play dumb you know what I'm talking about."
"No, I don't think I do?."
She seemed to be getting madder. "Ah" I paused thinking back on it there was one card that everyone was surprised about, she's was probably referring to that card.
Grabbing my deck I pulled out a card and presented it to Yuzu. Odd-Eyes Dragon.
"Yes! This card where did you get it?"
"Odd-Eyes Dragon is a card that's been in my deck for a while."
"Really?" She asked with scrutinizing
"Yes," Konami responds in kind.
"Hm…"
"Ah, I need to hurry up leave. There are less than twenty minutes until my designated meet up with Nico Smiley and talking to Yuzu isn't helping me one bit." Konami thought
"Sorry Yuzu, but I really need to go if we meet up again we'll continue our talk."
"Huh, but I still have questions." But at that point, Konami was already running off with his backpack on hand and trunk in tow.
Pure exhaustion was the only thing Konami felt at the moment running continuously without stop until he reached the train station. It didn't help that he had to drag his trunk along with him but it's not like he had a choice.
In front of Konami was a skinny man who was wearing a pink, yellow, and black jacket and a ribbon tie. He had straight black hair and pink and orange glasses, he gave somewhat of a clown-like appearance.
"You're late Konami-kun! Didn't we agree to meet up at the station by 4:00 P.M. It's 4:30 P.M." Nico started the irritation in his voice clear.
"Sorry Mr. Smiley, I arrived here far earlier than the scheduled meet up time so I thought I'd be ok to do a little site seeing. Afterward, I got caught up in a duel with an LDS student."
"Eh! An LDS student!" He grabbed hold of my shoulders, "Students from LDS are some of the greatest in the nation."
"Really? That's news to me." He responded.
"So who did you duel?!"
"Sawatari Shingo."
"Oh!" Smiley-san excitement seemingly disappeared as he let go of my shoulders. "So you fought the mayor's son." Mr. Smiley pondered for a moment. "How was the duel then, is he any good?"
"He's below average, but he has potential. There's plenty of room for him to grow if he can take the right steps."
"Hm."
"But that's not important I here for the Miami City Championship, You and Okada-san set it up so I could come to this city to fight strong duelist right. So when's the Championship?!" Konami asked excitedly getting into Smiley's personal space.
"Calm down, calm down." Smiley pushed Konami away "I know about my deal with Okada and don't worry you'll definitely find strong duelist to compete within this city, but the championship doesn't start until two months from now."
"TWO MONTHS!" Konami dropped to his knees, "Konami-kun calm down. You'll most assuredly have more duels before the championship." Smiley said with a wry smile. "I plan on having duel a new rising star who can use the same unique summoning method as you?"
Konami paused, raising his face to met Smileys "Pendulum?"
"EXACTLY! This new kid beat my former Pro League Champion Strong Ishijima with his Pendulum Summoning, I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw it, afterward, it was when I learned about you Konami-kun."
"You're referring to when Okada-san sent you the recordings of my duels using pendulum summon right."
"YES, EXACTLY!" Mr. Smiley's tone growing with his increasing excitement on the topic. "What were the chances that there would be two kids who could use pendulum summoning." Mr. Smiley "That's when you're here before the championship, I'd like to record your debut duel against the kid who beat Strong Ishijima."
"Is that so?" Konami thought "So, who's the other kid I'm supposed to be dueling.?" Konami's eyes brighten with excitement.
"Sakaki Yuya"
"Ah!" Konami thought back to his duel in the warehouse with Sawatari and the aftermath encounter with Yuzu. Both of them bringing up the name Yuya. "So the cheat Sawatari was referring is the game guy who could use Pendulum summoning as me," he mumbled using his hand to cover his mouth
Smiley observing Konami's actions could sense his increasing anticipation, he had worked with many duelists before due to his profession but it was the first time he's meet a battle-hungry kid like this.
"Now then let's talk about all the details later. It's getting late and I have other appointments to get to. I'll lead you to your new temporary home while you're here." Cutting of the conversation Smiley exited the subway station with Konami following in suit.
Konami was lead into a one-floor apartment, with one bedroom. There was a poster on the living room wall of an Entertainment Duelist with a red suit and hat. It wasn't a poster that Konami owned, the previous recipient living here most likely left it. None the less Konami appreciated, the man in the poster had an excellent color scheme going for him.
After unpacking, Konami popped onto his bed face first. "Sakaki Yuya, We're looking forward to meeting you," he said to no one but himself and the cards in his hand
